James Brown's kids are set to release grisly new books about the Godfather of Soul covering his reputation as an abusive husband and reports suggesting the singer was murdered.

The soul man's daughter, Yamma Brown, offers chilling details of her father's domestic abuse in her book Cold Sweat, while his son Daryl insists his dad's death was not natural in Inside the Godfather.

Yamma, who also opens up about her own abusive marriage in her memoir, recalls one violent row between her father and mother when she was five, writing, "My mother was dressed in her blue and white robe. Her legs were splayed wide open and my father was straddling her, pummeling her with clenched fists. Doosh. Thud. Doosh. Thud. Blood spurted from my mother's face. She started thrashing around, kicking her legs, holding up her arms to ward off the punches and trying to break free, trying to save herself."

Meanwhile, in an extract from Daryl's book, he states, "My father was murdered... I just have a gut feeling that he was killed", and and goes on to suggest members of Brown's were responsible.

Brown's son also alleges that his sister Yamma's abusive husband Darren Lumar's murder in 2008 was tied to his father's. He also believes his brother Teddy's car accident death in 1973 was actually a planned murder, insisting his sibling was shot before crashing his car.
