RIP - James Gandolfini

Sleep Well, Tony: James Gandolfini, the actor who took dramatic television performances to a new level as Tony Soprano in The Sopranos, died this week aged 51. Gandolfini won three Emmy Awards for the long-running HBO series and will be sadly missed in both the film and television world.

North, East, South, West: So Kim Kardashian and Kanye didn’t call their kid Kaidence. Phew. You can all breathe a massive sigh of relief now - but make sure you’re sitting down for this one. The girl’s name is North.

World War WHAT!? How has World War Z taken an opening $60 million at the North American box office alone? The project was in disarray just months ago, though it seems Brad Pitt has battled back to achieve one of the success stories of the year. Well done chap.

 Paula Deen - celebrity chef

Dee-reogatory Slurs: Oh what a week it’s been for Paula Deen, the celebrity chef who admitted using racial slurs during a deposition for a lawsuit. She’s losing contracts by the day, including a valuable partnership with The Food Network.

Bullocks! Oops, Sandra Bullock appears to have lost out on the part of Miss Hannigan in Will Smith’s Annie to fellow Hollywood star Cameron Diaz. The blonde bombshell has signed on for Smith and Jay-Z’s ambitious project despite Bullock previous holding talks with producers. Us? We think it could be a genius bit of casting.

Gwyneth Shares All: The internet was left rubbing its all-seeing eyes this week after Gwyneth Paltrow turned up in the trailer for comedy Thanks For Sharing wearing only lingerie! The American actress, married to Coldplay’s Chris Martin, plays the wife of a man who suffers from sex addiction.

 Justin Bieber with minder

Justin Sane! Justin Bieber allegedly kicked and punched a photographer outside a Southern Californian shopping center last year, this according to the paparazzo who is suing him. Sure, Justin has been a nuisance in recent months, though we smell a rat with this one.

Oprah WIN-Frey: Yep, Oprah has certainly won big, again. The former Queen of daytime television has returned to the top of Forbes’ annual Celebrity 100 ranking of the most powerful celebrities after two years in second place. She now leads the likes of Lady Gaga, Madonna and Taylor Swift.

Video of the Week: This week’s hottest footage is perhaps our most star-studded to date. It features Tom Cruise and Johnny Depp (complete with new hair) at Jerry Bruckheimer’s induction on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Anyone willing to guess how much cash they have between them?
