It's perhaps fitting that James Gandolfini eschewed his gangster typecast in favour of a warm, good-humoured teddy bear of a man in his last ever film, Enough Said: it marks the end of an era.

James Gandolfini's Last Film Has Premiered In New York.

Known for his role as mob boss Tony Soprano in the long-running HBO drama The Sopranos, Gandolfini died this June of a heart attack whilst holidaying with his family in Rome, aged 51 which came as a massive, heart-breaking shock for his fans. The just-released Enough Said marks the actor's last ever filming.

The movie stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Eva, a divorced, single mother who's dreading the impending departure of her daughter to college. At a party, she meets Albert, played by James Gandolfini, who is a lovely man with a good sense of humour but a bad relationship with his ex-wife. Eva and Albert's relationship develops but masseuse Eva discovers that her new client is none other than Albert's ex-wife, Marianne (Catherine Keener).

Directed by Nicole Holofcener (Please Give, Friends With Money), in a funny, endearing way, the movie explores the formation of new romantic relationships in older characters with plenty of strings attached and life complications to get in the way.

Speaking at the recent New York premiere, Louis-Dreyfus spoke of Gandolfini's versatility of an actor: "This is how great an actor Jim [Gandolfini] was," she said in response to the prompt that we're used to seeing the late star playing tougher characters. "He was no Tony Soprano. This guy was thoughtful, generous, sweet, self-effacing guy - like the character he plays in the film[...]I wish he was with me on this carpet at this very second." she added.

In addition to the Enough Said actors present at the red carpet event, Gandolfini's Sopranos co-stars were also there to share James' last cinematic outing. Tony Sirico, who played Paulie in the show, spoke extensively of his close friend and talented colleague: "He's our pal and we're coming to pay our respects. He might be dead, technically, but he's still there with me. I got his pictures all over my wall. And I got a lot of years working behind him.," he said via BBC News.

"Jimmy had a lot of colours. He was a great actor. He could play a tough guy, a softie," Sirico added. "He played a coward in a film and that had to be a tough... but he did it. He's wonderful." Edie Falco, who played Tony's wife in The Sopranos, is due to play tribute to James at the Emmy Awards.
