Jamie Dornan has revealed that he has a long-running dissatisfaction with his physique, despite having been a Calvin Klein model and now working on the lead role in the upcoming erotic drama, Fifty Shades of Grey.

Known for his oiled underwear adverts with Eva Mendes, breakthrough role in TV drama The Fall, and small part in 2006's Marie Antoinette, Dornan landed his first lead role in a movie after being cast as the BDSM-loving businessman Christian Grey in Sam Taylor-Johnson's 2015 adaptation of EL James' adult fiction series.

Remarkably, the actor is rather self-deprecating and has revealed that he doesn't quite see what all the fuss over his buff physique is about. "I don't like my physique. Who does? I was a skinny guy growing up, and I still feel like that same skinny kid," the Irish star admitted.

"I'd been auditioning for parts for years," the 32 year-old said of landing the 50 Shades lead, via Interview Magazine "I never got any better at it. I'm crap at auditions. I know there are people who can walk into those rooms and make those lines sing on the page and get the job immediately. I wasn't one of them."

The actor continued, laughing "I'm still not one of them. Even after I got my first acting job, thanks to Sofia [Coppola], I still went a while without working. If you ever wonder why some actors end up taking shit jobs, it's because they have to pay the mortgage-or because they just want to work."

He also discussed his acting technique and said that he is an advocate of the less-is-more approach. "I don't want to be showy," he said. "I'm not interested in seeing that, and I don't want to do it." "I've played a lot of broken people. Maybe the silences are about the different kinds of vulnerability in all of them."

Fifty Shades of Grey will be released in February 2015.
