In some sad news, Glee star Jane Lynch and her wife, Dr Lara Embry have announced their pending divorce. The couple met at a fundraiser in 2009 and got married less than a year later, in 2010. The actress spoke to People magazine regarding her and Embry’s decision. She said: "Lara and I have decided to end our marriage. This has been a difficult decision for us as we care very deeply about one another. We ask for privacy as we deal with this family matter."

Neither woman has made any further comments on the split and it looks like they intend to keep everything behind closed doors. The couple got married three years ago at a private ceremony, attended by just 19 of the couple’s friends. The wedding was held in Sunderland, Massachusetts, one of the few states in the USA, which recognises same sex marriage. Embry has one daughter, Haden, with whom Lynch has developed a close relationship over the years.

"My greatest pleasure is Haden, my stepdaughter," Lynch told PEOPLE at The Moms Mamarazzi event in New York City last March. "I am surprised how much love you feel and how you would do anything for your children."

At least Lynch has a number of other engagements to occupy her mind during the divorce. The actress is currently starring in Annie: The Musical on Broadway and is still acting in Glee, which has been renewed for its fifth and sixth season.
