There’s only one thing the Country music fraternity loves as much as the actual genre itself, and that’s hosting awards shows in honor of it. The CMT nominations have just been announced, the third big event of the calendar year in Nashville, alongside the Academy of Country Awards and Country Music Association Awards – presumably there’s plenty of others too, in a convoluted award-based hierarchy that resembles something akin to the various governing bodies of professional boxing. But with more singing and less hitting people.

Anyway, all the usual faces that you’d expect to be included in the nomination lists are there. Taylor Swift is up for two nominations – video of the year and female video of the year – while other big names up for some gongs include Carrie Underwood – up for the same categories as Swift – and Miranda Lambert ,who is up for a whopping four awards. Four!

Lambert can boast a share of the claim to be the most nominated artist at this year’s CMTs, joining more hardcore country icons Luke Bryan and Eric Church in being up for a potential quartet of awards. Jason Aldean will be hoping to put recent marriage woes behind him by taking one of his three nominations. The country star recently split up with his wife of 11 years Jessica Ussery after being caught kissing American Idol alumni Brittany Kerr. Check out the full list of nominees here. The event takes place on June 5th.
