Jason Aldean has offered up his prayers and support for the family and friends of a man struck by his tour bus on an Indiana highway. Albert Kennedy of Vincennes, Indiana was pronounced dead on the scene.

"With a heavy heart, I'm sad to say that a man passed away last night after stepping out in front of my bus in Indiana," Aldean said in an online statement.

Aldean had already wrapped up his tour, and was travelling to Illinois for a brief vacation, so was the only passenger on the bus at the time. The Knox County sheriff's department said that Kennedy "walked out into the middle of the roadway" and was struck by the bus.

He was walking in the northbound lane of Highway 41 North a 1:28 am when he was hit. He was pronounced dead on the scene by the coroner.

"In all the years I've been touring and all the miles we've driven, nothing prepares you for something like this to happen," Aldean said. "I'm praying for Albert Kennedy's family and friends today and ask that you do the same."

Aldean last hit the headlines when he filed for divorce from his wife Jessica Ussery six months after photos surfaced of Aldean kissing ‘American Idol’ star Brittany Kerr. He cited "irreconcilable differences".

On Friday, Aldean held his eighth annual Concert for the Cure in New Orleans, raising more than $575k for the Susan G. Komen breast-cancer advocacy organization. He would have performed in Dallas on Saturday had violent lightning storms not forced a postponement.
