Jason Orange decided to leave Take That because he didn't like the pressures of fame.
Jason Orange quit Take That to escape fame.
The 44-year-old singer left the band because he no longer wanted to feel ''violated'' by the industry and even grew his beard and hair in the hope of going unrecognised in public after the group reformed in 2006.
A fan, who once asked him for a picture when they spotted him in Manchester, told The Sun newspaper: ''He was the grumpiest person in there. We asked him for a quick picture and he said, 'No, this industry makes me feel violated.'
''He had a small entourage of young ladies with him. We were extremely polite in asking but he point blank said 'No'. My friend said she had spent money seeing him in concert but he just walked off.''
Jason, who was the only member of the group not to embark on a solo career when they broke up in 1996, is now keen to travel the world and appears to be in a better mental place after he decided to quit his career.
A source explained: ''Jason hated being in it first time around. He genuinely likes going off travelling the world with a backpack, being anonymous and fancies himself as a thinker. He feels he's got his life back. He can now kick on and do what he wants to do.''
The group will now continue as a trio.
