Jason Segel has been expressing his delight at his involvement in the 'The Muppets', the 31 year-old actor and writer taking at the red carpet premiere of the latest film, enthusing "I never dreamed that I would be writing and starring in a Muppet movie. Everyone just seems so happy - that was my goal."
The movie went on general release on November 23rd 2011 and features a slew of star-studded cameos including Emily Blunt, Mickey Rooney, Ricky Gervais, Mila Kunis, Jack Black, Katy Perry, Whoopi Goldberg, Wanda Sykes and 2012 Oscars host Billy Crystal. It is the first Muppets film to be produced by Disney since the successful 'Muppets Treasure Island' was released in 1996, starring a young Kevin Bishop as Jim Hawkins in an adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's 'Treasure Island'. The plot sees the Muppet's Theatre under threat from a rich tycoon, played by Chris Cooper, after oil is discovered beneath it.
Speaking at the premiere, Segel said "Everyone's having an amazing time and that's what the Muppets are all about," Segel continued. "More than anything, it's about walking away with a smile and I think we've achieved that." The actor has been a long-term fan of The Muppets and is even an amateur puppeteer.
