Jason Statham thinks he'd make a ''decent'' James Bond.

The 47-year-old Hollywood star has revealed he'd love the opportunity to appear as the secret agent in the iconic franchise, but said his version would be markedly different to that portrayed by Daniel Craig.

He said: ''Could I do it? Abso-f***ing-lutely. Would I do it? Abso-f***ing-lutely. Is Daniel Craig a great Bond? Abso-f***ing-lutely.

''Yeah, I'd make a decent Bond. But it'd be very, very different if I did it.''

By contrast, Jason - who's been dating model-turned-actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley since 2010 - has no ambition to play the role of a Bond villain.

He told the Guardian newspaper: ''I don't know if I wanna to do that. That's not my thing. I'd rather play the other guy.''

Meanwhile, Jason admitted his career is on a peak at the moment - following the success of 'Furious 7' and the release of new action comedy movie 'Spy' - but he doesn't think it will last forever, admitting the industry is ''unpredictable''.

He said: ''It's a good spot. But it's very unpredictable. It's inevitable what goes up must come down.''
