We knew Jay Leno couldn't stay away from our screens for too long. After bowing out from the 'Tonight Show 'in February, the former late night host has just announced his next project, a series on CNBC which has been tentatively titled ‘Jay Leno's Garage’.

The primetime series is based on Leno’s Emmy-winning web series, in which the comedian indulges in his favourite subject, all things cars. The show is reportedly going to explore everything you could want to know about motors, from which make good investments to the inner workings of the collectors market.

"This show will be about anything that rolls, explodes and makes noise," Leno said in a statement. "We hope to highlight the passion and the stories behind the men and women who made the automobile the greatest invention of the 20th century.”

Leno had hosted a one-hour special in August for CNBC titled 'Jay Leno's Garage: The Ultimate Car Week'. The programme was his first hosting gig since his ‘Tonight Show’ departure.

In a statement CNBC President Mark Hoffman said of the series, "Jay will add tremendous star power and exceptional content to CNBC's primetime at the perfect time. CNBC at night has real momentum and Jay's personality, tremendous fan base and his passion for the subject will contribute mightily to our burgeoning primetime. We're really excited Jay will continue his storied career with the NBC family and with us at CNBC.”
