Jay-Z addresses race issues in the new video for his song 'Moonlight', named in honour of the triple Oscar winning movie of the same name. The track is from his number album '4:44' which he released earlier this year via Roc Nation.
The video centres on a subversive version of the sitcom 'Friends', with black actors playing Monica, Chandler, Rachel, Ross, Phoebe and Joey. Directed by 'Master of None' writer Alan Yang, it stars Issa Rae ('Insecure'), Tessa Thompson ('Creed'), Tiffany Haddish ('Girls Trip'), LilRel Howery ('Get Out'), Lakeith Stanfield ('Get Out') and Jerrod Carmichael ('The Carmichael Show').
After comedian Hannibal Buress slates the concept of the show, Carmichael walks off set and the song starts up. The video ends with infamous mistake made at the 2017 Academy Awards, where 'La La Land' was announced to have won Best Picture when it was actually 'Moonlight'.
Co-written by the likes of Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean, the song is the sixth to be released with a video from '4:44'.
