Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy tests out new songs by playing them through with his 11-year-old drummer son before any of his bandmates hear them. Songwriter Tweedy likes to run through his latest compositions with talented percussionist Spencer. Tweedy tells website PitchforkMedia.com, "He's a very, very naturally gifted musician... And I don't feel like I really have that much to do with it. It's something that has come much more natural to him. "It's been a part of his environment his whole life, like with (now-closed Chicago club owned by Tweedy's wife) Lounge Ax - he's spent a lot of time watching bands like The Jesus Lizard sound check. It's pretty gratifying. "He's really good to jam with. I get to play a lot of songs with him before the band hears them and you can play with him like you're playing with an adult. So it's pretty crazy."
