Jenna Bush Hager, the daughter of former President George W. Bush, has welcomed her second daughter with her husband, Henry Hager. Jenna gave birth to the healthy baby girl, named Poppy Louise Hager, on Thursday (13th August).

The baby has been named after Jenna’s grandfather, President George .H.W. Bush Sr. who was nicked Poppy as a child.

33-year-old Jenna confirmed the news to Today on Friday (14th August). She also shared an adorable picture of herself, holding her new-born baby, and her husband on Instagram. 

‘Welcome to the WORLD Poppy Louise Hager--named after my darling Gamps who went by Poppy during his childhood. We are in LOVE,’ Jenna captioned the picture. 

Henry also issued a short statement in which he described how “thrilled” his family were with the new addition.

"We are proud to name her after a man we so adore," Henry told Today. “We are thrilled.”

Jenna, who works as a journalist and is a correspondent for Today, has been married to Henry since 2008. The couple met during her father’s 2004 presidential campaign and became engaged in 2007. Their first child was born in April 2013, a baby girl named Margaret Laura Hager (known as Mila). According to USA Today, Mila is named after both of her grandmothers. 

Mila helped her mother publically announce she was expecting another child. Mila was filmed explained how her mother had her “baby sissy” in her tummy. 

This is the second grandchild for former President Bush and his wife, Laura Bush. They also announced the arrival of Poppy in a separate statement.

"Laura and I are overjoyed to meet our second grandchild today. Poppy Louise Hager entered the world yesterday in New York City, but we consider her an honorary Texan,” Bush said.
