Jennifer Lawrence has just signed on the dotted line to star in upcoming movie, The Rosie Project, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The romantic 'dramedy' is currently in development over at Columbia Pictures, a division of Sony, the studio which produced Lawrence in American Hustle.

But while the film might have found its star in Lawrence it’s still looking for a director after The Lego Movie filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller had to leave when they took on the upcoming Star Wars Han Solo spin-off movie. The film is now said to be on a fast-track search for a new director.

The film will be an adaption of Graeme Simsion's book of the same name, which tells the story of a socially awkward genetics professor who devises a science-based survey to find the perfect mate. But the professor’s plans soon go awry when he meets Rosie Jarman a woman who posses all the qualities he shouldn't be after. So far there’s no word yet on which actor will star opposite Lawrence as the quirky professor.

The film’s script has already been penned by 500 Days of Summer writers Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber, who also adapted John Green’s The Fault In Our Stars last year. Producing will be the team of Matt Tolmach and Michael Costigan.

Lawrence will next be seen on the big screen in the final instalment of The Hunger Games franchise, Mockingjay — Part 2, which opens on November 20th. Lawrence is also scheduled to soon begin working on sci-fi love story Passengers with Jurassic World star Chris Pratt which is currently in pre-production at Sony.
