American Idol XIII Finalists PartyJennifer Lopez to produce and star in the new cop drama series "Shades of Blue"

The new television series "Shades of Blue" is produced by Jennifer Lopez and her American Idol co-star Ryan Seacrest. This is the first time Seacrest has ventured into producing television drama shows.

"The script is so powerful and ambitious - we can't wait to see Jennifer take on this remarkable role," stated Seacrest. NBC has also expressed their excitement about welcoming Jennifer Lopez on board.

"Whether its producing, acting, singing or any of her other many entrepreneurial activities, Jennifer is an extraordinary talent and life force, and we're delighted to be in business with her and Adi Hasak on this sophisticated show," blurbs NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke.

The TV drama "Shades of Blue" is about the character Harlee Mccord (Lopez) who is a single mom turned dirty cop. Eventually she is recruited by the FBI's anti-corruption task force to work undercover with them in order to redeem herself.

The script for the show is currently being written by the screen writer of the thriller movie "3 Days to Kill."

American Idol returned for their 13th season last month where Lopez currently works once again as a judge. The multi-talented entertainer has also starred on the big and small screen in many films including "Selena." However, this will be Lopez's first television drama acting role.
