Jeremy Clarkson Makes Light Of BBC Exit In New Amazon Advert

Jeremy Clarkson

Jeremy Clarkson might have found a new home on Amazon’s streaming service, but that doesn't mean he’s left his past with the BBC completely behind him. In the new advert for the Amazon Fire TV stick, the former ‘Top Gear’ host is shown making fun of his BBC sacking and of course, he’s isn't particularly subtle.

The advert shows Clarkson riding in on a segway as he promotes the new Fire TV Stick. "Back in the spring, as you probably remember, I suddenly became unbusy. And that was OK because I had one of these, an Amazon Fire TV stick,” Clarkson says.

Jeremy Clarkson To Face Argentinian Jail Over Licence Plate Controversy?

Jeremy Clarkson Richard Hammond James May

A court in Argentina is re-opening a criminal investigation against Jeremy Clarkson and ‘Top Gear’, with regard to the controversial Christmas special episode set in the South American state, with prosecutors seeking a three-year sentence for the former presenter.

Clarkson and his ‘Top Gear’ colleague Richard Hammond and James May sparked fury in the southern-most province of Tierra Del Fuego in October last year, when Clarkson drove the whole 1,400 mile trip in a red Porsche with the licence plate H982 FKL – taken to be a reference to the Falklands War between Argentina and Britain by irate locals and veterans of the conflict.

Chris Evans Has His New Top Gear Team

The Top Gear presenting line-up - it’s had more drama than the cobbles of Corrie and the square of Eastenders. Since Jeremy Clarkson had his contract ended with the BBC One show after a fracas with a producer, there’s been rumours (Jodie Kidd), possibilities (Jensen Button) and definite nos (Sue Perkins, who had to quit Twitter after the trolls told her they didn’t want to see her on the show).

Now Chris Evans, the one constant since the trio of Clarkson, May and Hammond left, has revealed that the newest line-up has been picked and there will be “announcements pending”.

Jeremy Clarkson Thought About Doing "Nothing At All" After 'Top Gear' Exit, Until Netflix Offer

Jeremy Clarkson Richard Hammond James May

Jeremy Clarkson has said he considered doing “nothing at all” after his axing from 'Top Gear' earlier this year, until Amazon Prime came to the rescue. Writing in his Sunday Times column, Clarkson also said he had no idea that his co-hosts James May and Richard Hammond would refuse to do the show without him.

Writing about his feelings in the days after his firing, Clarkson said, “I didn’t really know what I was going to do. A large part of me considering the appealing option of ‘nothing at all’. A smaller part thought I should change tack and do a programme about farming.”

Jeremy Clarkson 'Entered Rehab For Stress' After 'Top Gear' Axing

Jeremy Clarkson James May Richard Hammond

Jeremy Clarkson has revealed he was sent to rehab over the summer, following his sacking from ‘Top Gear’. The presenter said he was ordered to take a "complete break” by doctors, due to the stress of dealing with his exit from the BBC series. Clarkson left the show in March following a much publicised 'fracas' with producer, Oisin Tymon.

Writing in his Sunday Times column Clarkson said, 'Back in the summer it was decided by people with serious faces and stethoscopes that I needed a complete break. And they weren't talking about two weeks in the sun with a book, and a million cocktail parties every night. They were talking about a whole month in the Stone Age.’

Jeremy Clarkson Takes A Hammering On 'Have I Got News For You'

Jeremy Clarkson Ian Hislop

Jeremy Clarkson has made his first appearance on the BBC since he was sacked from ‘Top Gear’ nearly seven months ago, hosting the satirical panel show ‘Have I Got News From You’ – and, as you might have expected, he was roundly mocked by regulars Paul Merton and Ian Hislop.

The episode was filmed on Thursday and is due to air tonight (Friday October 2nd), and resembles the one-sided panning administered to ‘HIGNFY’s former permanent presenter Angus Deayton way back in 2002. It’s the first time that Clarkson has made any appearance on the Beeb’s television stations since the infamous “fracas” with one of ‘Top Gear’s producers back in March.

Upcoming Series Of 'TFI Friday' Will Definitely Be Chris Evans' Last, He Reveals

Chris Evans Jeremy Clarkson

‘TFI Friday’ may be returning to Channel 4 later this year after its successful comeback, but its presenter Chris Evans has revealed that after the planned crop of shows he is “not allowed” to present any further series because of his ‘Top Gear’ duties.

The off-the-wall ‘90s favourite returned for a one-off special to celebrate its twentieth anniversary in June this year and was well-received (except for Lewis Hamilton killing the momentum stone dead at the end), but Evans has conceded that his BBC duties must take priority after the planned 10-episode series of ‘TFI Friday’ finishes.

As the BBC prepares to relaunch ‘Top Gear’ bosses are said to be panicking that their new host Chris Evans isn’t internationally famous enough to keep the show’s global audience. ‘Top Gear’ has always been one of the Beeb’s biggest international money makers, but there is concern that Evans’ lack of notoriety might turn off international viewers.

Chris EvansChris Evans will be fronting the relaunched ‘Top Gear’ next year.

Could The New Clarkson, Hammond And May Amazon Show Be Called 'Gear Knobs'?

Jeremy Clarkson Richard Hammond James May

The new Amazon motoring show to be presented by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May might be getting a rather bizarre title. Legal documents unearthed in a new report suggest that the upcoming show might have the name ‘Gear Knobs’. Okaaaay…

A trademark application, filed two weeks before the former ‘Top Gear’ trio announced their new deal with Amazon’s Prime Instant Video service on July 30th, was discovered by BuzzFeed. This suggests that Clarkson and co. will not only be sticking with the kind of laddish humour that’s made them globally popular, but have also decided to annoy their former BBC employers in the process.

He may be following Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May out of the BBC to help with the trio’s new Amazon Prime show, but executive producer Andy Wilman has given his backing to ‘Top Gear’s new presenter Chris Evans.

While speaking to Broadcast magazine about the new show, Wilman was asked for his thoughts on what was going on back at the BBC with what remains of ‘Top Gear’. He said that he was satisfied with Evans’ appointment in June this year, as it demonstrated that the Beeb are serious about breathing new life into it, after he and Clarkson brought it back to the network in 2002.

Former ‘Top Gear’ hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May have finally decided where they’ll be making their new motoring show. The ex-BBC trio have signed up with Amazon’s streaming video service ‘Amazon Prime’, with the first commissioned series due in 2016.

Speculation has been rife as to where their new home would be, following their departure from the BBC Two show earlier in 2015 after Clarkson’s now-infamous ‘fracas’ in March when he assaulted one of the show’s producers. Netflix, Sky and ITV had all been touted as strong possibilities in the last few months, but the US giant appears to beaten all of them to their signatures.

'Top Gear' Cleared By Ofcom Over 'Pikey's Peak' Sign

Jeremy Clarkson

Ofcom has cleared BBC motoring series ‘Top Gear’ of breaching broadcasting codes after they received complains following an episode in which presenter Jeremy Clarkson held up a sign saying ‘Pikey’s Peak’. The complaint was made by The Traveller Movement who claimed the word ‘pikey’ was an ‘offensive and derogatory term for Gypsies and Travellers’.

However the regulator found that the reference was more likely to be interpreted by viewers as a comment about Richard Hammond and his Vauxhall Nova car rather than insulting the Gypsie or Traveller community.
