Jeremy Clarkson took to Twitter to agree with another user that he is “fed up” of the deluge of media speculation around his future, ever since he was sacked from BBC’s ‘Top Gear’ after his notorious “fracas” with producer Oisin Tymon.

Twitter user Sienna Sapphire seemingly wondered out loud: “Anyone else sick of hearing about Jeremy Clarkson? Nothing particularly against him, but why is his every move / word still in the news?” She was probably a bit surprised to find that, this morning, Clarkson had replied “I do like me but even I'm fed up with it.”

Elsewhere, Clarkson responded to another user and dropped a big hint that we hadn’t seen the last of him and his colleagues, James May and Richard Hammond, on television screens.

Ross Best, one of Clarkson’s online followers, wrote: “My eldest who has autism loved Top Gear and was upset when it ended. He has watched all your episodes from 1st to last.” Late on Wednesday night, Clarkson replied: “Oh it wasn't the last, you can be sure of that.”

It’s already widely known that there’s a race on between broadcasters to secure Clarkson and the team’s signatures, chiefly between ITV, Sky and streaming service Netflix. In an interview with BBC Radio 2’s Chris Evans last week, the former presenter said that he had received a number of offers after the BBC had allowed his existing contract to run out.

The only thing that Clarkson, Hammond and May won’t be allowed to take with them to wherever they eventually end up will be the ‘Top Gear’ name itself. The BBC plans to revamp the new show with an entirely new set of presenters and format, after producer Andy Wilman also followed May and Hammond out of the door last month.

The BBC is no closer to announcing a presenter, but pop star and former guest on the show Will Young has put his name forward for the job after expressing his love of cars. In a new interview with The Sun, he said: “I’ve just bought an old Mini and a Golf. And Audis, Jaguars… I love them. People don’t expect a gay man to like rugby, sports, kick-boxing and enjoy cars, but I do. I even stop and talk to lads in service stations about their cars.”
