The first episode of 'The Grand Tour' will be available on Amazon Prime from November 18th.
The much-anticipated new motoring show from Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May finally has a release date. The first episode of ‘The Grand Tour’ will be made available on Amazon Prime from November 18th.
The new show’s maiden episode will be 70 minutes in length, and will partly be filmed in California next month, with one section of the episode already shot in Johannesburg in South Africa.
New episodes of ‘The Grand Tour’ will then be released every Friday for 12 weeks. Revealing the launch date, Amazon has uploaded a 30-second teaser trailer to YouTube.
Jeremy Clarkson in London in 2016
Meanwhile, British newspaper The Sun has reported on Friday (September 16th) that Hollywood A-listers Matt Damon and Charlize Theron have been tapped to be the first guest stars for the new series. If true, it’s sure to be another cruel blow for the BBC’s re-vamped ‘Top Gear’, which was ridiculed earlier this summer for its string of minor guest stars while Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc were presenting it.
A source told the paper: “All the early signs suggest ‘The Grand Tour’ will have a much bigger pulling power than Top Gear. Matt and Charlize are just two of the names involved. More big stars will follow. ‘Top Gear’s influence and power has clearly waned without Jeremy at the helm.”

Clarkson, Hammond and May have signed up to make 12 shows per year for three years. Speaking at the Edinburgh Television Festival in August, producer Andy Wilman revealed that everything had been filmed in 4K resolution, but dismissed reports that each episode had a budget of £4.5 million.
Jay Marine, Vice President of Amazon Prime Video EU, said in a separate statement this week: “Customers have been desperate to find out when they can watch their favourite team back on screen, so we are very excited to announce the launch date of one of the most globally anticipated shows of 2016.”
