Jeremy Irons is in final negotiations to join the cast of 'Beautiful Creatures'.

The 63-year-old actor will join a star studded ensemble including Viola Davis, Emma Thompson, Emmy Rossum and Thomas Mann in the supernatural thriller which tells the story of teenagers Ethan (Jack O'Connell) and Lena (Alice Englert) who uncover dark secrets about their families and the town they live in.

The film will be based on The New York Times bestseller 'Beautiful Creatures' by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl.

Jeremy is being lined up for the part of Macon Ravenwood, Lena's mysterious uncle in the movie while Academy Award nominated Viola will play Amma, a seer who watches after Ethan and his father when the boy's mother dies.

Production company Alcon has snapped up the rights to the three novels in the series with hopes to turn the movies into a successful franchise.

Richard LaGravenese will direct the movie while Erwin Stoff is set to produce along with Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson.

The movie begins filming in April in New Orleans.
