Jerry Springer used his position as mayor to meet his favourite musicians.

Long before the Tv presenter hosted his notorious U.S. talk show, Springer was a politician, serving as the mayor of Cincinnati, Ohio in 1977.

While he only held his position in office for one year, Springer took advantage of his power and honoured certain stars in the city just so he could meet them.

He tells talk show Big Morning Buzz Live, "When I was mayor of Cincinnati, I was in my early 30s. So I wanted to meet all of these rock stars that I really like. So the way that I would do it is that I would offer them a key to the city if they came to Cincinnati and did a concert.

"I gave one to Linda Ronstadt , Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Bob Dylan, The Eagles. Oh, it was great fun. I gave away so many keys that we ran out and later on I had to just give them the combination."
