The duo couldn't be happier to work alongside each other again.
When she first read the script for American Ultra, the thing that stood out for Kristen Stewart was the chance to work with Jesse Eisenberg. "Actors get sent these scripts from their agents," she says. "But this is a really, really original and strange script. And I jumped at working with Jesse. We really had a good time on Adventureland a couple years ago. And I've sort of declared we should definitely make a movie every five years. So just in keeping with that, I jumped on this one!"
The chemistry was already there for Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg
Stewart was excited because she wouldn't have to "fabricate a dynamic" with Eisenberg. "I think me and Jesse work in a really similar way," she says.

And Eisenberg was just as happy to work with her again. "I couldn't say enough about her. I remember when we were working together before, she was 18 or 17 or something, and after the first scene I just went over to the director and I said, 'She's really funny.' Like she's genuinely very funny."

In American Ultra, they play stoners who are on the verge of getting engaged when their life is derailed by action chaos. "It was such a mishmash of genres and such a strange tone I knew that I needed someone really intelligent to lead the way," Stewart says. "I knew that Jesse and I could do something funny and sweet, and kind of scary too."
Speaking of scary, Eisenberg went from American Ultra to filming his role as Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and photos have been released of him sporting the traditional bald head. That wasn't an issue for him. "You know, it's such an honour to be a part of the film," he says, embracing the challenge of bringing the character to life in a new way. "We were able to discuss things at length and figure out who this person is. It's an interesting role: a complicated, challenging person."

Less enjoyable was the deafening response he got when he turned up at San Diego Comic Con. "The screaming was terrifying," he admits. "That people are excited about it in that way is unheard of. And also thrilling."
