Jesse is a Native New York singer songwriter. Born out of a hardcore punk and a rock 'n' roll background, he's played and toured since the age of 13. He has now recorded his first solo album "The Fine Art of Self-Destruction", produced by recording artist Ryan Adams. While recording the album, Ryan said "Jesse Malin's songs are so good they hurt my feelings." Jesse is a street-wise story teller whose characters and slice of life lyrics portray a world of unsung heroes, helpless romantics. Smashing Pumpkins/Hole bass player Melissa Auf der Maur, Contributed her airy, soulful back-up vocals on the album, whilst Adam Duritz of the Counting Crows is calling it "the best album anyone has made this year."

So all this information looks fantastic on paper but when it comes down to the grind stone and the album gets put in the CD player the music doesn't make any kind of outstanding impact. Ryan Adams has cloned a replica of himself in the form of Jesse Malin, the sound that has been created is something you would hear on a typical American film Score. The tracks on The Fine Art Of self Destruction are kept simple and make an easy listening album, and I can't deny that Jesse has come up with an album with some listener friendly tracks. If you enjoyed Ryan Adams last album you will love Jesse Malin's Debut.
