The news has hit that there is a Dumb and Dumber sequel in the works. Fans of the original 1994 movie should hold on to their hats because it appears that Jim Carrey will be reprising his role as Lloyd Christmas in the ridiculously bad-taste comedy about two stupid friends who bumble their way through life with great big dopey smiles on their faces.

Carrey, who stars along with Jeff Daniels AKA Harry Dunne - also on board - has whipped his 11 million Twitter followers into an excited frenzy after he posted a snap of Lloyd's trademark chipped tooth with the caption "GESS HUUZ BAK BICHEZ?" Daniels replied to Carrey's tweet with "Lloyd? Is that you?!!! #DumbTo."

Jim Carrey Will Return As Goofball Lloyd Christmas Next Year.

Sure, there was the 2003 "prequel," Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd with Derek Richardson and Eric Christian Olsen portraying Harry and Lloyd through their high school mishaps but despite a few glimmers of the original, the movie was widely panned as a rotten tomato and it was agreed that Carrey and Daniels were key to the movie's success.

Although Carrey said that he'd dropped out of the movie mid-last year, it seem like he's now back on board and raring to go: "I'm ready," he said an an SXSW opening night premiere of his new comedy, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone. "There is a script. It's fun. Jeff and I are raring to go."

He May Look Like A Respectable Man Now, But Jeff Daniels' Return As Harry Is Sure To Make Us Laugh Until We Wet Ourselves.

Titled Dumb and Dumber To (yup, totally), the movie will be set two decades after the shenanigans of the first movie. Half of the movie's creators the Farrelly brothers, Bobby Farrelly revealed the sequel's storyline to Digital Spy: "I can tell you that there is no growth out of either one of them and it's 20 years later. The story revolves around the fact that one of them may have sired a child. They want to go and find the child because he's having a kidney problem and he wants to ask him for one of his kidneys."

If, like us, you're reeling at the use of the word sired, then focus on this: the sequel is reportedly budgeted around the $30 million mark which is twice the budget of the 1994 original. Despite its $14 million costs, Dumb and Dumber went on to take $247m worldwide.

Dumb and Dumber To is set to hit cinemas in 2014 to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the original movie. At least this time, we'll have chance to prepare our ears for 'the most annoying sound in the world'!
