Jay Leno made a surprise appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ on Tuesday evening, tagging in for the host during his opening monologue. Leno retired as host of the ‘Tonight Show’ in February 2014, with Fallon then taking over and bringing the series back to New York.

During his opening monologue Fallon pretended to be injured and asked for someone to ‘tag in’ and take his place. Fallon’s call was then answered by none other than Jay Leno, who came complete with a ream of material based on the 2016 presidential race.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt showed he really can carry a tune on Friday’s edition of 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’, when he joined a barbershop quartet for a rendition of Rihanna’s ‘Bitch Better Have My Money’. The 34 year old actor became the latest star to join The Ragtime Gals, helping the group give a unique twist to Rihanna’s hit single.

Appearing on Fallon’s sofa, the actor was noticeably excited at the opportunity to perform with the show's quartet. “That was so much fun man,” the 34 year old said after his performance.

Children of the ‘90s, pay attention! Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell were temporarily reunited in a Jimmy Fallon sketch on ‘The Tonight Show’, almost 20 years since their Nickelodeon TV show first aired.

37 year old Mitchell, who was a guest on Fallon’s sofa on Wednesday night (September 23rd) and currently stars in Nick’s ‘Game Shakers’, reprised his classic role of Ed the cashier (now promoted to supervisor all these years later) from the Good Burger sketch from ‘All That’, while Thompson played another character, construction Lester Oakes, not his old character of Dexter Reed.

Donald Trump brought his presidential big to the ‘Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ on Friday evening, getting both silly and serious with the talk show host. During his appearance on the show Trump discussed his vision for America under The Donald, while also participating in a sketch with Fallon.

Donald Trump is the forerunner for the Republican Party nomination for the 2016 presidential election.

In the sketch Fallon donned a wig and a Trump-esque suit to play the only person who’s really qualified to interview Donald, his own reflection. As Trump, Fallon asked the Republican candidate, "How are you gonna create great jobs in this country?”

Stephen Colbert’s first episode as host of ‘The Late Show’ on CBS was a success in the ratings, according to Nielsen, drawing millions more than rival shows by Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel.

‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’, which has been anticipated for several months since David Letterman retired as host in May after 22 years in the job, got an average of 6.6 million viewers on Tuesday evening (September 8th).

This was more than double the ratings of its nearest competitor that night, with NBC’s ‘The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon’ securing 2.9 million viewers and ABC’s ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ with 1.8 million.

Just a month or so after One Direction set a new record for streaming on Spotify, Justin Bieber has bested that total with his new single ‘What Do You Mean?’

According to the streaming service, the single has notched up the highest first-week streaming total globally, with the song being played more than 21 million times in five days. This beat the total of 20 million achieved by 1D’s first Zayn-less track ‘Drag Me Down’, which was released at the end of July.

Justin Bieber has opened why he was moved to tears at the end of his recent VMAs performance, explaining that he genuinely didn’t expect the rapturous reception he got when he finished.

Bieber was talking to Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday evening (September 2nd), and was asked why he broke down crying when he finished, which was arguably the bigger talking point of the evening ahead of his actual performance. Fallon initially joked that his tears were down his private parts being squeezed by the harness that was attached to him during the show!

Jimmy Fallon will continue hosting The Tonight Show for at least six more years. Fallon has signed a contract with NBC which will see him on our screens until 2012. The news was announced at the Television Critics Association press tour by NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt on Thursday (13th August).

Kristen Stewart joined Jimmy Fallon for an awkward yet hilarious round of the game 'Word Blurt' on Tuesday’s edition of the 'Tonight Show'. The 25 year old actress was appearing on the late night talk show to promote her new movie, American Ultra when she got roped into playing the word association game with the host.

Jimmy Fallon showed that he’s fully recovered from the nasty accident in which he nearly lost his finger by joining U2 onstage at their Madison Square Garden gig last night.

Having been photographed without his cast on Wednesday, ‘The Tonight Show’ host was invited onstage for a surprise appearance at the rock supergroup’s New York gig that night (July 22nd). He joined in with the rendition of ‘Desire’ on harmonica and cracked a few jokes at his and the group’s expense.

Jimmy Fallon nearly lost his finger in an accident in his own home. The 40-year-old talk show host returned to host The Tonight Show on Monday (13th July), after taking a few weeks off to recover from his injury. His left hand was in a cast and he revealed how serious his injury was. Be prepared to cringe, it’s not a pretty story!

Jimmy Fallon has assured fans he’s doing well after he was admitted to a New York hospital on Friday to receive minor surgery on one of his hands. Although the comedian’s injury wasn’t too serious, it did cause NBC to cancel Friday’s taping of 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' and air a repeat episode instead.

Sharing a picture of his bandaged hand the talk show host tweeted, "Tweeting with one hand. Tripped and caught my fall (good thing)! Ring caught on side of table almost ripped my finger off (bad thing).” The 40 year old also added that he was feeling, “#drugged” and “#blessed” as he recovered, telling fans, “Thanks for good wishes everyone." LOL!”

Lena Dunham, everybody. The Girls creator guested on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon Friday night and it served as the perfect occasion to bring back... wait for it... LIP SYNC BATTLE. Oh yeah! The two battled against each other over eight minutes, with Fallon trying his lips at Charlene’s “I’ve Never Been to Me” and RUN-DMC’s “Run’s House” and Dunham taking on Calvin Harris’ “Outside” (feat. Ellie Goulding) and Queen’s “Fat Bottomed Girls.”

U2 caused a bit of a stir in New York this week by performing a secret gig in a subway station.

The Irish rock legends, much more accustomed to playing cavernous stadiums and arenas, dressed up as street musicians and made an impromptu busking performance at Grand Central station on Monday night. The set was filmed ahead of the group’s appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s ‘Tonight Show’ this Friday (May 8th).

Can we all agree that The Tonight Show is the funniest of the late night circuit? Everyone else can stop trying now, thank you. Last night (Thursday, April 16) saw the return of John Krasinski to Fallon’s studio and the actor paid (hilarious) tribute to N’Sync and Jimmy’s old pal Justin Timberlake.

Krasinski was good, but he was no match for Kendrick's cunning.

It was the lip sync battle of a century, with Krasinski absolutely killing it rocking out to the band’s 2000 hit Bye Bye Bye, as I’m sure we’ve all done at one point or another, probably after a couple tequilas.

The former WWE champ teamed up with rapper Common to take on Jimmy Fallon and John Legend on Thursday evening, demonstrating his miming skills to Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’.

Johnson performed Swfity’s modern pop classic, as well as donning the infamous John Travolta white suit for a rendition of the Bee Gee’s ‘Stayin’ Alive’. The 42 year old’s partner Common also performed Lionel Richie’s 'All Night Long' and 'I Want You Back' by The Jackson 5, helping to secure victory for the pair.

On Thursday night’s edition of ‘The Tonight Show’, host Jimmy Fallon unveiled what has got to be the creepiest of all the creepy duets. In the pre taped skit, Jimmy and five (yes five!) identical Jimmy Fallon waxworks give a hilarious, if yet totally disturbing rendition of the Beach Boy’s 1965 classic ‘Barbara Ann’.

The skit begins with Jimmy answering a call from his mom as The Beach Boy’s classic plays as his ringtone. "Hey Mom!" the host says. "They just dropped off my wax figures from Madame Tussauds. It's amazing. The details, everything, it looks just like me.”

You'd be forgiven for being a little confused by Will Ferrell’s appearance on last night’s edition of ‘The Tonight Show’, after all host Jimmy Fallon also seemed pretty perplexed by the comedian’s choice of costume. Ferrell appeared on Fallon's sofa dressed as Little Debbie's snack cakes mascot, Little Debbie and refused to break character during his interview, which was meant to be promoting new movie Get Hard.

The host challenged Xtina to a game of ‘Wheel of Musical Impressions’ while on his sofa, but Fallon probably wasn’t expecting his guest to be such an expert mimic.

Aguilera was first challenged to sing the "Folgers Coffee" jingle in the style of her Burlesque co-star Cher, which she managed perfectly. Then Fallon’s turn came, where he delivered a pretty impressive impression of David Bowie, if he were to sing ‘You're a Grand Old Flag’.

Fallon gets a decent amount of appreciation for his crazy outfit combination and startlingly long hair as he reminisces about his high school days, and goes into a scene set-up of Bayside High. However, a particularly prolonged applause went to Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Zack Morris) as he made an appearance complete with wavy blonde hair and looking almost indistinguishable from his younger self some 25 years ago, proceeding to reel off the lyrics from the famous theme tune.

Chris Pratt and Chris Evans may have been rivals in the weeks leading up to the Superbowl, but the two Marvel stars have proved their best when working together, after taking part in ‘The Tonight Show’s’ ‘Celebrity Photobomb’ segment.

Then if the Patriots lost, Evans would have to pay a visit to a Seattle children's hospital dressed as Captain America.

First dates are usually pretty awkward, but one way to make them a little worse is to not even tell one of the participants that they're meant to be one a date!
