The late night talk show host, who has hosted ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ since 2003 on ABC, will emcee the 90th Academy Awards telecast for the second consecutive year on March 4th next year. Matt Damon "Bumped" By Jimmy Kimmel In United Airlines Skit

Matt Damon Jimmy Kimmel

Matt Damon and Jimmy Kimmel put aside their light-hearted ‘feud’ for a hilarious segment skewering United Airlines for its recent passenger-bumping PR disaster on the latter’s late night chat show this week.

The two have been engaged in fictitious feud with each other for eight years, largely revolving around how Damon never gets invited as guest to ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!” However, they joined forces for the sake of capitalising on the great social media talking point of the last fortnight – the United Airlines scandal in which a passenger was dragged off a United airplane by airport police because he had been bumped from the internal flight.

The world of comedy is in mourning after Don Rickles, one of the true giants of the art form, passed away this week at the age of 90 from kidney failure.

The highly influential comedian, renowned for his lightning-quick wit and observational comedic insults, died on Thursday (April 6th) at his home in Los Angeles, his publicist told The Hollywood Reporter.

Jimmy Kimmel Announces Trump-Free Tuesday - And It's Unsurprisingly Refreshing

Jimmy Kimmel Donald Trump

It's no wonder that Jimmy Kimmel is thinking about retirement from the talk show business, what with Donald Trump's various antics inciting an endless stream of must-be-addressed issues since his election. Thus, he decided to take a well-earned break with 'Trump-Free Tuesday' this week.

Jimmy KimmelJimmy Kimmel declares Trump-Free Tuesday

Yesterday (February 28th 2017) the talk show host decided to disregard the President's Congress address on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' and declared it an official 'Trump-Free Tuesday'. We don't blame him. If we had to write monologues all the time about the crazy things Trump says, we'd get tired of it too.

Oscars Host Jimmy Kimmel Under Fire For "Mocking" Mahershala Ali's Name

Jimmy Kimmel Academy Of Motion Pictures And Sciences Mahershala Ali

While the La La Land / Moonlight confusion inevitably stole the headlines at last night’s Oscars ceremony, the telecast’s host Jimmy Kimmel has come under fire for ‘mocking’ actor Mahershala Ali’s name and ‘devaluing’ his Best Supporting Actor win.

When the first Oscar of the evening went to the 43 year old American actor for his role in Moonlight, making him the first ever Muslim to win an academy award, Ali took the time to pay a heartfelt tribute to his wife Amatus, who had given birth to their first daughter just a few days previously.

“I just want to thank [my wife] for just being such a soldier through this process and for carrying me through it all,” the star said.

Jimmy Kimmel Is Seriously Considering Hanging Up His Talk Show Hat

Jimmy Kimmel is contemplating retirement following the expiration of his 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' contract in 2019. Because of his perfectionist tendencies, he ends up making a lot of work for himself on the ABC show, and he could really do with some time out.

'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' has been on the air for 14 years, and the self-confessed 'control freak' host has claimed to spend up to 70 hours a week working on each episode; from writing monologues to researching his guests for interviews. So it's no wonder he's considering not renewing his contract in the Fall of 2019.

How Jimmy Kimmel's Daughter Reacted To The Halloween Candy Prank

Jimmy Kimmel

Jimmy Kimmel continued his reign of terror on Trick-or-Treaters with the sixth annual Halloween candy prank. This year, however, was the first time he got to do the prank himself on his 2-year-old daughter Jane. Needless to say, it didn't go as well as he'd hoped.

Every year on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live', we get to see videos of parents pulling the 'Halloween candy prank'; the ultimate in mean tricks to play on your children. Basically, your kid goes Trick-or-Treating, picks up a huge collection of candy from the neighbours, you send them off to bed when they get home and they wake up excited to indulge in the previous nights sugary pleasures. Only... you tell them that you ate all their candy.

Well, the Charlie Sheen/Ashton Kutcher story is just getting awkward at this point. The Kimye Wedding Rumours Continue: Versailles Ceremony Out, Lady Gaga In!

Kimye West
Kimye were in Paris recently, with wedding bells on both their minds

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are planning the most lavish ceremony they can conjure for their impending nuptials. Aquaman and his hobbit fiancé are masters of grandeur and without a doubt, their wedding ceremony will be off the scale and the kind of wedding ceremony us mere peons could only dream of attending. What we can do though is go through all the gritty details that have emerged so far and try to image what the spectacle might be like.

The twosome had initially planned to rent out the grandiose Palace of Versailles, on the outskirts of the French capital, Paris, for their wedding. Hoping to star in the most important event to take place in the impressive French palace since October 1919 (in their mind), these plans have since been scuppered by the pair, as Kim revealed last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. Having been spotted perusing the grounds of the palace during a recent trip to Paris for Couture Week, which had been followed before by online rumours, the reality starlet said that she and Kanye will not be holding their wedding ceremony in the baroque Château de Versailles after all, as she said that she and her hubby were only at Versailles out of interest, having never visited the building before.

However, despite the family encouraging Khloe to see fertility specialists, the 33-year-old was unwilling to become pregnant, a factor Kardashian attributes to her sister's belief that timing was not right. She described how Khloe "was not showing up to these doctors' appointments behind our back on purpose and doing everything on purpose," deliberately not to get pregnant. Kardashian added, by way of explanation, "She knew that it wasn't right. She knew that she wasn't ready."

Press Intrusion? Wake Up Kanye West, You're Marrying Kim Kardashian

Kanye West Kim Kardashian Jimmy Kimmel

Kanye West's feud with Jimmy Kimmel came to a head on the host's ABC Live show on Wednesday (October 9, 2013), though it sort of fizzled out with a couple of indignant Kanye soundbytes.

We don't need to go through this again. Anticipation had built for the pair's meeting after Kimmel's now infamous mocking of Kanye's now infamous interview with Radio 1's Zane Lowe.

In the end, Kimmel admitted that he'd only watched a little of West's interview - in which he called himself a fashion designer above a musician and dubbed himself the biggest star on the planet - before filming the sketch. "I think some people read into it differently - that we were positioning you as a child, which was not the case," Kimmel explained in front of a blank staring Kanye.

Kanye West and Jimmy Kimmel offered everyone a lesson in conflict resolution, when the rapper/fashion designer/tabloid headline generator accepted Kimmel’s invitation to an interview. Then the two sat down, apologized, saw each other’s point of view and reconciled. And that’s how it’s done, folks.

Kanye West, Jimmy Kimmel Live
Kanye West used his appearance to appeal for a return to common decency.

The full interview is available on JKL’s youtube channel, separated between six videos, but suffice it to say that a lot of below-the-surface issues came up during the interview. If you’re still not caught up on the celebrity feud du jour, the feud started after Kimmel spoofed a recent interview that West did with BBC Radio, or rather, the most outrageous bits. The talk show host had kids read out some of Kanye’s statement and, admittedly, the bit was pretty funny. Then West erupted into a Twitter rant against the talk show host and boom – brand new celebrity feud.

Kanye West Clears The Air With Jimmy Kimmel During 'Live' Appearance

Kanye West Jimmy Kimmel

Kanye West's interview with BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe sparked much conversation, and plenty more criticism of the rapper than he would have hoped for. Eager to poke fun of the self-appointed number one rock and roll star in the world, Jimmy Kimmel aired a seemingly harmless sketch in which Kanye's more outlandish comments were recreated by children, something that really didn't sit well with Kanye. Following a much-publicised online feud, the two were able to clear the air and explain themselves in an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, which aired on ABC last night; Wednesday, 9 October.

Kanye West & Jimmy Kimmel To Go Head To Head On 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'

Kanye West Jimmy Kimmel

It all started with spoof, a harmless spoof that was always seemed as though it was coming because the subject was so laughably absurd. When Kanye West was interviewed by BBC Radio 1 last month, his egotistic boasts were so odd it seemed as though the rapper had wrote himself into a South Park episode, and America's comics must have been battling it out between themselves to see who got to parody the interview first.

Kanye WestJimmy Kimmel
Kanye and Kimmel starred in one of the strangest feuds in a while

His claims of being the biggest rock star in the world and inventing black leather jogging bottoms were always going to draw parodies, and when Jimmy Kimmel came along with his own take on the interview there were laughs to be had by all, except for Kanye that is. We don't really need to fill you in on all of the details, basically Kanye went off the chain on Twitter, mis-using Spongebob memes, swearing up a storm and even bringing Kimmel's ex into things (he wrote; "SARAH SILVERMAN IS A THOUSAND TIMES FUNNIER THAN YOU AND THE WHOLE WORLD KNOWS IT!!!"), as it seemed that Kanye had made a mountain out of a mole hill for a change. When you're in a hole, stop digging. It's a simple enough concept: when you've done something ridiculous and made yourself a laughing stock, just keep quiet and take the consequences. StePhest Colbchella Kicks Off With Stephen Colbert Skating Into Our Hearts To The Sound Of 'Get Lucky'

Stephen Colbert Daft Punk Hugh Laurie Jeff Bridges Matt Damon Jimmy Kimmel Jon Stewart Bryan Cranston

Stephen Colbert’s political satire might be top notch, but his dance skills are not to be overestimated. Last night, the Colbert Report host strapped on a pair of roller skates and boogied down to the sound of 'Get Lucky' – the Daft Punk/Pharrell Williams hit that’s become the inescapable soundtrack to this summer. The, um, energetic performance served as the kickoff for Colbert’s summer series of concerts or “StePhest Colbchella ‘013” – it’s what the cool kids call it.

Who knew Colbert posessed such hidden talents?

But, of course, the host dancing all by himself would have been a bit sad, so instead he brought in some friends – Hugh Laurie, Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and even Colbert’s former colleague, Jon Stewart – still on leave from The Daily Show – joined in with some tight moves. Colbert’s moves turned out to be too much for the Colbert Report studio, so the shenanigans infiltrated the America’s Got Talent stage and even an interview with Bryan Cranston and the rest of the Breaking Bad cast – at which point Cranston simply joined in for an amazing 70s themed dance routine. We couldn’t do it justice. Just watch the video:

TV host Jimmy Kimmel must have had the shock of his life to find two ladies in veils and white dresses were in attendance at his wedding, narrowly mistaking his fiancé Molly McNearney for mischievous guest and Precious actress Gabourey Sidibe, according to Yahoo! OMG. Kimmel and his girlfriend of two years MollyMcNearney married in a romantic Californian ceremony, packed with A-list guests, including Matt Damon, his wife Luciana, Emily Blunt, Jennifer Garner, Ben Affleck, Ellen Degeneres, Portia DeRossi, Kristen Bell, Dax Shepard, Stanley Tucci and John Krasinski who all turned up the exclusive Ojai event.

Kimmel and McNearney hadn't planned on another bride turning up to their nuptials but this didn't stop Gabourey Sidibe, clad in white veil and bridal train, from making an entrance to remember when she stepped out of her black limo with a girlfriend as her 'bridesmaid' to help her with the flowing white gown. The Jimmy Kimmel Live host and his new wife Molly - the head writer on his show - showed their sense of humour, welcoming their prankster guest with laughter as both clearly enjoyed the stunt. So as not to hog the limelight from beautiful bride Molly, Sidibe changed into a tight red dress and flat white shoes after the surprise had rippled through the wedding party.

Halle Berry married Olivier Martinez this weekend, according to reports in E! The ceremony appears to have taken place at the Chateau des Conde in Vallery, France. Photographs of guests arriving at the ceremony and the couple in their wedding car are likely signs the couple did finally tie the knot. Berry is a stickler for details and promised the wedding would only be "very small", as she said in an interview with InStyle magazine.

Ben Affleck Is Guy’S Choice Awards’ ‘Guy Of The Year’

Ben Affleck Clint Eastwood Brad Pitt George Clooney Mickey Rourke Matt Damon Jennifer Aniston Jessica Alba Snoop Dogg Vince Vaughn Jimmy Kimmel Henry Cavill Burt Reynolds Jeff Bridges Jake Gyllenhaal Jennifer Garner

Ben Affleck was awarded with the Spike’s Tv ‘Guy of the Year Award’ on Saturday (aired last night). The ceremony took place in Culver City, California. Affleck was presented his antler shaped (nicknamed ‘mantler’) award by fellow Oscar winning actor and director, Clint Eastwood. This is one of many awards; Affleck has received this year including an Oscar for his film Argo.

The Awards were first held in 2007 and previous winners have included Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Mickey Rourke, Maek Wahlberg and Matt Damon. As you’d expect, the awards are hardly female friendly (there is an award named the ‘holy grail of hot’) yet many turned out for the event including Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Alba.

The awards are hardly on par with the Oscars or a Golden Globes – there was a category in 2012 for ‘Hottest Zo(o)e(y)’. The nominations for this particular award were somewhat limited. However, the award’s lack of prestige did not prevent Affleck celebrating backstage with Snoop Dogg, Vince Vaughn and Jimmy Kimmel.

Muse Set To Turn World War Z Premiere Into Full-Blown Concert

Muse Brad Pitt Jimmy Kimmel

The premiere of the long-awaited end of the world action-drama World War Z is due to take place in London next Sunday (June 2), but this wont be your average movie premiere though, as rocker Muse are set to turn the shindig into a full-blown concert for the expected 15,000 spectators.

The Brad Pitt-staring zombie epic, in which Pitt stars as a former UN investigator attempting to save the world from a strange pandemic that threatens to wipe out the human race, will premiere in London’s Leicester Square next week before movie to Horse Guards Parade Ground in St James' Park for Muse's performance. Paramount Pictures' President of Motion Picture Music Randy Spendlove (great name) also revealed that the studio are planning to fly US chat-show host Jimmy Kimmel to the U.K. to host the whole thing, which will be filmed and made available to the public.

Why Muse you may be asking; well the British band feature heavily in the movie's soundtrack, with the track 'Isolated System' being used a various points throughout the movie. Spendlove told Billboard, "It made the movie feel and sound really cool. After we layered in the music, we reached out to their management in the US and the UK to see how we could reach beyond the movie. We wanted it to be bigger than that."

She was joined by 2013 Grammy and BRIT artist Frank Ocean who has dominated the R&B industry with his spectacular debut album 'Channel Orange' and his rather inspiring love life confessions. Jimmy Kimmel Tricks Coachella-Goers Into Gushing Over Fake Bands [Video]

Jimmy Kimmel Two Door Cinema Club

Ok, so there's plenty of serious music fans at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, though there's also those who have no idea who they're watching, where they are, or why they're there. You've seen them wandering around - they chose their festival outfit about 6 months ago. Anyway, Jimmy Kimmel skewered plenty of fake music fans at this year's festival by getting them to gush about bands that, err, don't actually exist. "Music fans in general love knowing about bands that no one else has ever heard of," Jimmy Kimmel said as he introduced a Coachella edition of his 'Lie Witness News.'

Sending his cameras into the maelstrom, Kimmel caught one guy saying of the completely fictitious Obesity Epidemic, "I just like their whole style. Their whole genre is great. They are very innovative, and they're new." Other fake bands included Get The.Out Of My Pool and our personal favourite The Chelsea Clintons. "I think they just give off that energy, like you can just tell they're doing it from a good place," said one reveller of the band.

The reporter was keen to push, Doctor Shlmo and the GI Clinic, which one gig-goer said she was "really excited to see them live.." and Shorty Jizzle and the Plumbercrucks were described as "unique for sure". Two Door Cinema Club were the only real band used in the segment, though one music 'fan' said he'd enjoyed their album 'DJ Cornmeal'. Doh!

Harrison Ford Accused Chewbacca Of Sleeping With His Wife On Jimmy Kimmel Live

Harrison Ford Jimmy Kimmel

Harrison Ford called Chewbacca a “sack of sh*t” and accused him of sleeping his wife, during an humorous skit on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show. During the interview, Kimmel attempted to ask Harrison Ford about the forthcoming Star Wars movie, keen, no doubt to talk about the recent news that he would be reprising his iconic role as Han Solo in JJ Abrams forthcoming Star Wars instalment.

Ford tells Kimmel that he’d rather not discuss anything Star Wars, which throws a rather awkward spanner in the works as he hands over to members of the audience, who have come prepared with questions for Harrison… all of them dressed as Star Wars characters. Suddenly under pressure to ask Harrison a question that ISN’T about Star Wars, the best they can muster up is “do you like being in films” and “are you hungry.” Then a man dressed as Chewbacca stands and makes angry Chewbacca noises.

What ensues is an angry exchange between Harrison Ford and Chewbacca, to whom he says “you’re so full of sh*t” before turning to Kimmel and demanding to know “how’d he get in here? Did you set this up?” He then accuses Chewbacca of having slept with his wife, before storming out of the studio to a roar of laughter. The new Star Wars movie is expected to be released in 2015; Harrison should probably expect a whole bunch more questions about it between now and then.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! Oscars Shows See Much-Anticipated Movie The Movie 2V Trailer

Jimmy Kimmel Rachel Weisz Gerard Butler

It’s become the case that as sure as night follows day, so the Jimmy Kimmel Live Show will run a bang up program post-Oscars awards show.

The show followed the immediate aftermath of the 2013 Oscars, which saw the likes of Argo and Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lawrence, Ang Li and Bradley Cooper walk off with the main honors, and Kimmel was once again quick to mock the Hollywood film industry with a show brimming with satire. MTV reports that Kimmel opened with a lively monologue which saw him throw barbs at E!’s Ryan Seacrest, saying that he “took home the award for Best Animated Short” as well as poke fun at John Travolta, who’d struggled to pronounce film name Les Miserables at the event itself.

Then there was the sequel to Movie the Movie, the fake movie trailer that has since gone on to become a Youtube favorite after its debut at last year’s Oscar post-show. The sequel was called Move the Movie V2 and switched between a multiple of genres and featured the likes of Rachel Weisz and Armie Hammer which most notably mocked The Twilight Saga. A zombie apocalypse meanwhile takes care of the likes of Jude Law, whilst Gerard Butler also appears for a cameo. Yet inspite of the undoubted hi-jinks, there was something lacking in Kimmel’s show last night, and it wasn’t his fault – more over it just seemed that the material he had to work with, the Oscars themselves, was a little dull this year.

Newest Star On The Walk Of Fame Belongs To Jimmy Kimmel

Jimmy Kimmel Matt Damon

After a celebrity gets a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, there isn’t much left to prove, is there? Still, we hope Jimmy Kimmel keeps working and entertaining, because, even after taking up the same slot as late night heavyweights Leno and Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel Live keeps delivering top notch entertainment. After Matt Damon “hijacked” the show on Thursday evening, on Friday, Kimmel accepted the honor alongside his parents, his wife and former JKL intern Carson Daly.

Jimmy Kimmel's Late Night Success Story - Ratings Beat Letterman

Jimmy Kimmel

Jimmy Kimmel's chat show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, used to air at midnight, but in a bid to compete with the other late night chat shows of his calibre, the station decided to move him forward a little. The new time seems to have worked, because he beat The Late Show with David Letterman, being bested only by The Tonight Show, reports CinemaBlend.

They say that Kimmel brought in a massive 3.1 million viewers, while Letterman managed to get just shy of 3 million, with 2.9. Jay Leno's The Tonight Show, however scored 3.3million. However, while Kimmel may be celebrating now, this is the first show of the new time slot which may garner some viewers of novelty, plus, he had a very special guest on the show: Jennifer Aniston. Ever since Friends and her marriage with Brad Pitt she has always been hot property when it comes to talk shows and magazines, so undoubtedly some of those 3 million people will have tuned in just to see her promote her latest movie Wanderlust.

Only time can tell, however, and Kimmel has a lot of celeb friends that will be willing to help him out in times of need. He's a seasoned veteran of talk-show hosting anyway, so even if 3 million occurs only on a good night, his average days wont be too far behind.

A Smashing Start: Jennifer Aniston Takes Sledgehammer To Jimmy Kimmel's Desk

Jennifer Aniston Jimmy Kimmel Justin Theroux

Jennifer Aniston made sure that Jimmy Kimmel had a smashing start to his show, when it debuted at the new timeslot of 11:35pm (shifted from 12:05 to ramp up the competition with Jay Leno).

Aniston, apparently mistakenly believing that she was appearing on the last show of the old time slot, rather than the first show of the new time slot, smashed up Kimmel’s desk with a sledgehammer, wearing protective goggles and ear defenders.

Staggering across the stage area in heels and a peplum dress, Aniston feigned surprise when Kimmel explained that she had, in fact, smashed up his new desk before the two of them joked, in some kind of tail-chasing-mock-ironic manner about what a ridiculous situation that was and why none of the show’s staff had stopped Aniston from entering the stage with a sledgehammer.

Confirmed: Jimmy Kimmel Really Doesn't Like Jay Leno

Jimmy Kimmel Jay Leno David Letterman

Jimmy Kimmel, whose show is moving to a new 11.35pm time slot, targets rival Jay Leno in a new interview with Rolling Stone magazine. The pair have history: beginning in 1992 when Leno won the Tonight Show job over David Letterman. As a huge fan of the latter host, Kimmel felt the job was stolen away from his hero.

Kimmel explains that years later, Leno courted him with weekly phone calls. He needed the younger host to give up his midnight time slot in order to make his own show happen. In recent years, the Live! host has taken numerous swipes at Leno, including saying "F*** him" during an interview with Bill Carter. In the new "marijuana-enhanced" interview with Rolling Stone, Kimmel said, "Leno hasn't been a good stand-up in 20 years. As a comedian, you can't not have disdain for what he's done. He totally sold out. He was a master chef who opened a Burger King." Leno still performs a stand-up routine at the L.A.-area Comedy and Magic Club every Sunday.

The pair's rivalry is about to intensify more-so, with Kimmel moving to the 11.35pm time slot to join Leno and his hero Letterman. It begins on Tuesday (January 8, 2013) with guests Jennifer Aniston and No Doubt.

Kimmel Slams Leno In Pot-Fuelled Rolling Stone Interview

Jimmy Kimmel Jay Leno David Letterman

Just a few days before his show moves to the coveted 11:35pm ET slot, it has come to light that Jimmy Kimmel slammed Leno in a Rolling Stone interview, the Daily Mail reports. In the interview, during which Kimmel is reportedly smoking blunts with the magazine’s reporter, he gives Jay Leno a hell of a verbal pasting.

“Leno hasn’t been a good stand-up in 20 years,” says Kimmel, who continues “as a comedian, you can’t not have disdain for what he’s done. He totally sold out." Kimmel’s show will go head to head with Jay Leno once it moves time slots but Kimmel reckons’ Leno’s days are pretty much numbered. “Jay Leno is not going to be able to stay in television forever and obviously, Jimmy Fallon is doing a great job, so it makes sense people would talk like this.”

When he was done laying into his rival, though, Kimmel showed his positive side and had nothing but praise for his other talk show rival, David Letterman. Speaking of his childhood idol, he said “If I beat David Letterman in the ratings, does that mean I’m better than Letterman? No f***ing way.” He continued “People are going to compare me and him for years to come — we’re being positioned as the Leno and Letterman of the next round,' Kimmel reportedly said. 'I like it because he’s a very worthy competitor.”

ABC To Move Jimmy Kimmel Live To Premium Time Slot

Jimmy Kimmel David Letterman Jay Leno

A battle of the giants is approaching – networks, hosts and late-night shows will be fighting it out for ratings this January, as the Jimmy Kimmel Live show on ABC moves to a later time slot.

The switch to 11.35 might not seem like a big deal to most – after all it’s only 25 minutes later than Kimmel’s original slot, but it’s a move long prepped for by ABC and long dreaded by rival networks NBC and CBS. The new time slot puts Kimmel in direct competition for ratings with household names Jay Leno and David Letterman and this means a lot to the JKL host.

“I know moving from midnight to 11:35 might not sound like a big deal — it’s only 25 minutes — but it’s probably the most important 25 minutes of my life, since the first 14 times I had sex,” Kimmel told his audience in August, on the day ABC announced the change. The network has been grooming Kimmel for the promotion throughout last year, and it’ll be very interesting to see where the show goes from here. Meanwhile, Jay and David have reacted in very different ways to the news. While Letterman has given his blessing to the new competitor, Leno will be moving his show ahead by one minute, starting at 11.34. A whole minute ahead of the new rival. Somehow, we feel that that might not cut it in the fight for ratings.

Mike Tyson Fights Back From Critical Mauling To Take Musical On Tour

Mike Tyson Jimmy Kimmel

One of the most controversial stars of the past three decades in the ring, boxer Mike Tyson is taking his Broadway show Mike Tyson: Undisputed Champion on the road in the new year for a 10-week tour.

Tyson raised eyebrows when initially announcing the show, and has since suffered somewhat of a critical mauling over it. The plot centers on the time when Tyson was convicted of rape and sentenced to prison for three years in 1992, a crime he still contests that he did not commit. The show will commence its tour on February 12, 2013 in Indianapolis and will hit 36 cities across the USA, reports The New York Times. Tyson needs all the good press he can get for the jaunt, and revealed the tour on The Jimmy Kimmel Show, adding in an anecdote about a visit from Florence Henderson whilst he was in prison.

Tyson was apparently in solitary confinement at the time and said to Kimmel “What was I going to say when Mrs. Brady came to visit?” before staggering around the stage imitating what it was like to walk in shackles. Making his boxing debut in the 1980's, Tyson became the youngest World Heavyweight Champion in history in 1986 when aged just 20 he knocked out Trevor Berbick for the WBC belt. However, he never re-captured his 80's magic and spent much of the next two decades fading in form, although he was never far away from controversy out of the ring.

Jimmy Kimmel On Interviewing David Letterman

Jimmy Kimmel David Letterman

Take one emerging talk show host, and make them interview one of the genre's all time legends, and what do you get? A nervous, emerging talk show host. Jimmy Kimmel says interviewing David Letterman is "a big deal" for him.

"It's been some welcome," he laughed, when Access Hollywood interviewed on moving his show to Brooklyn. "We were, of course, disappointed that we had to cancel our first show, and then trying to do the show in the middle of all this craziness has been difficult, but I don't know -- it brings people together to, I guess, stand in line outside Trader Joe's trying to get hummus," Jimmy joked. "Tonight David Letterman is on the show and the band Vampire Weekend... I'm nervous about it because I've been watching David Letterman religiously since I was about 13 years old," Jimmy said. "When I was a kid, my birthday cake said, 'Late Night with David Letterman' on it, my license plate on my car said, 'Late Night,' so it's a big deal for me."

We're not surprised: this would be like Kendrick Lamar interviewing 2 Pac; David Beckham interviewing Pele, or Daniel Radcliff interviewing any other professional actor capable of acting. It's a big deal. You can catch the two talk show hosts... talking, 12/11c tonight (Wednesday, October 31) on ABC.

Letterman And Jimmy Fallon Film Shows Despite Hurricane Sandy - "Frankenstorm"

David Letterman Jimmy Fallon Jimmy Kimmel

David Letterman and Jimmy Fallon may be taking the phrase 'the show much go on' a little too seriously, as both chat show hosts continued to tape their shows despite numerous warnings in light of Hurricane Sandy or Frankenstorm as it's become known.

It was all a little bit weird. Lettermen ran through some rejected nicknames for the storm, which would have been a hilarious bit on his normal show, but given the lack of live studio audience, and the fact his usual graphics guy was absent - meaning someone held up scrappy bits of paper on camera - it wasn't quite the slick show we've come to expect. At least Fallon started his show off with an acknowledgment that it was to be somewhat abnormal, kicking things off from a rain-soaked Rockefeller Plaza. Jimmy Kimmel decided to play it safe. The Hollywood reporter quotes a statement from his team, saying: "Due to stupid Hurricane Sandy and in the interest of the safety of our studio audience, Jimmy Kimmel Live! will not broadcast tonight from the Harvey Theatre at Brooklyn Academy of Music. We are hopeful to be back on the air tomorrow night with Howard Stern,Tracy Morgan and Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings." Kimmel did go ahead with his Tuesday show (30th Oct. 2012).

This won't come as comforting news to many New Yorkers, many of which won't have the power to even watch the show (some reports suggest that power will be out for two weeks). Here at Contact Music we'd like to wish everyone on the East Coast the best of luck in getting through the stormy weather.

The Show Must Go On? David Letterman Props Up Entertainment Industry During Hurricane Sandy

David Letterman Jimmy Fallon Jimmy Kimmel Stephen Colbert Jon Stewart The XX Cat Power Grimes Rufus Wainwright The National Keira Knightley Russell Crowe Will Smith

The mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg has been making sure that the city's residents were fully prepared for Hurricane Sandy, which hit New York last night. And whilst the majority of New York citizens paid heed, TV presenter David Letterman decided to pay heed instead to that age-old motto from the world of entertainment. "the show must go on!"

According to MTV, Letterman wasn't going to let a minor detail like the biggest storms to ever hit the USA stop him from filming one of his late night chat shows. He did, however, film the episode of The Late Show With David Letterman without the presence of his usual live audience. He may have been prepared to brave the elements to get the show filmed but he wasn't about to let the general public endanger themselves in the process. The same applied to Jimmy Fallon's show, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.

Other shows weren't so lucky. Jimmy Kimmel was forced to cancel one of his tapings in Brooklyn, announcing on Twitter "Though it pains us to do it, JKL from Brooklyn tonight is cancelled. I'm disappointed too, but we want you to be safe." Over at Comedy Central, however, the laughter stopped for the night. Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart both cancelled the filming for their shows.

"Where's The Love Axl?" Slash's Wife Disappointed By Axl Rose's Jimmy Kimmel Interview

Axl Rose Slash Jimmy Kimmel Guns N Roses

In distinct contrast to his normal behaviour Axl Rose was a) on time and b) giving an interview, with Jimmy Kimmel. The GUNS N' ROSES front man hasn't given a live TV interview for 20 years, but now that he has a 12 date residency at The Joint at Hard Rock in Las Vegas is more than happy to do a little promo in aid of the performances.

Perla Hudson, the wife of ex-Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash, was disappointed by the interview and quipped about it in an interview with Us Weekly. She, like many other fans, was probably hoping for a more in-depth and revealing interview, rather than the brief and amusing chat with Kimmel that ultimately barely scratched the surface of Axl's interesting life and even more interesting psyche. "I was waiting for something enlightening and all I got was promotion for a show and his evident affinity for a chili burger," Hudson said.  "Where is the love Axl? And I stayed up for this? Sex, drugs and chili dogs. Long live Axl Rose. And a Halloween tree." Fixating on his weight, she said he has "evidently [had] way too many Tommy's chili burgers!" We can't disagree, he really is looking like a bit of a porker these days, in contrast to his high cheek boned and chiselled days of the early 90s.

Ah well, Axl turned 50 years old earlier this year, so gaining a few pounds is pretty much par for the course in middle age. In the interview he also expressed apathetic support for Obama, but that despite 'leaning' towards the Democrats, he won't be voting. A little odd given that his residency is titled "An Appetite For Democracy". Apathy, political contradictions and piling on the pounds, let's put it all down to creative licence. He's Axl Rose, he can do what he likes. The Guns N' Roses residency will begin on Wednesday 31st October 2012, with 11 futher days until November 24th of the same year.

First TV Interview In 20 Years Sees Axl Rose Back President Obama

Axl Rose Jimmy Kimmel Guns N Roses

The normally grumpy Axl Rose seemed pretty cheerful indeed as he appeared on the Jimmy Kimmel Live! show, and as well he might! After all, this was the first televised interview the notorious front man of ageing rock and rollers Guns N’ Roses had given in more than 20 years. Rose was surprisingly smooth in the role as guest, and even kept his cheerful demeanour when Kimmel likened him to Santa Claus. That must be some sized dressing they’d put up for him backstage.

That said, Kimmel largely avoided the long, long list of things he could’ve asked Rose, such as, y’know, his embittered relationship with his former guitarist Slash, or his decision to reject his Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction and then subsequently apologise for his no show, nor indeed what Guns N’ Roses were planning next. Kimmel might as well have just asked him “So, Axl, how are you?” and have that be that.

However, he did take the ribbing he got well, and in a moment that really did make him seem like Santa Claus, he puts Guns N’ Roses tickets under certain audience members seats, as well bringing along a burger truck and giving everyone gift certificates! Oh, and the title of this story? It’s because he told Kimmel that he “would lean Obama” in the upcoming election, though he quantified this by saying that he and most of California tend not to vote. So there you go then, Axl Rose: not quite as monstrous as we thought. See for yourself below (complete with amusing Halloween anecdote):
