Harrison Ford On The Mend But 'Star Wars: Episode VII' Delayed By Weeks

Harrison Ford Jj Abrams

Harrison Ford's broken leg could set back the production of Star Wars: Episode VII by up to two weeks, according to a new announcement made by Disney. The actor, who'll be reprising his role as Han Solo in the film, sustained the injury last month whilst filming for Jj Abrams' new sci-fi instalment.

The veteran movie star faces up to six weeks of rehabilitation to get him - quite literally - back on his feet after a piece of the movie set crushed his leg on the 12th June at England's Pinewood Studios.

Shooting has continued in Ford's absence with Star Wars bosses working around the missing character. Now shooting has had to be halted for two weeks by the studios although Episode VII is still "on track" to wrap in the fall and be released in December 2015, according to the AP.

No 'Star Wars Episode VII' News Means Kevin Smith Takes Centre Stage

Kevin Smith Star Wars Jj Abrams Harrison Ford

Star Wars Episode VII has done a pretty good job of churning out fairly newsworthy stuff since it was announced following Disney’s acquisition of LucasFilm and everything related to a galaxy far, far away.

Star Wars

Yes, ‘this person is starring as this thing,’ or ‘this old guy broke his leg doing this, or even ‘this man is in charge of another thing do to with this thing’ – they all happened and they were just about newsworthy. But with nothing that important taking place, it looks like we’ll have to talk about Kevin Smith, who took a photo of his own face while being around all the Star Wars things going on.

What You Need To Know About Rian Johnson's Star Wars Appointment

Star Wars Rian Johnson Jj Abrams

We don’t get many leftfield directorial appointments in the world of movies, so Rian Johnson’s Star Wars nod really is something to savour. Johnson will direct Star Wars Episode VIII, and word on the street is that he’ll be working Episode IX, too.

Rian Johnson Rian Johnson big pressure on his hands with two Star Wars movies to direct

The reaction to Disney and LucasFilm’s decision has been reasonably muted, which should be taken as a positive sign for Johnson. He has a short but impressive CV, including the highly celebrated Brick, his excellent work on the complex, intricate sci-fi thriller Looper and of course, three episodes of Breaking Bad – The Fly, Fifty-One and Ozymandias.

JJ Abrams Reacts To 'Star Wars VII' Millennium Falcon Leak...But Not How You’d Expect

Jj Abrams Carrie Fisher Mark Hamill Harrison Ford

With a movie as large and far-reaching as the new Star Wars, Episode VII, it was always going to be impossible to stop certain juicy details from leaking to the eager fanbase. Director Jj Abrams is notoriously secretive but even he has had to give in after a sneaky production team member shared several shots of the Millennium Falcon spaceship being built in some kind of hangar.

The director tweeted a photo of what appears to be the hologram chess board that appeared in the original Star Wars trilogy bearing a note that read "I wish people would stop leaking photos from Episode VII. And making ridiculous claims that the Millennium Falcon is in the movie. - JJ."

Basically, Abrams is making fun of all the people speculating over whether the Falcon will be featured in the movie by saying 'yes fools, of course one of the most famous spaceships of all time is going to be in my movie.'

Millennium Falcon Photos From 'Star Wars 7' Set Leak: Could It Be?

Jj Abrams Carrie Fisher Lupita Nyong'o Harrison Ford Mark Hamill Gwendoline Christie Peter Mayhew Domhnall Gleeson Adam Driver

We have been given our first look at the brand new Millennium Falcon that is being built for the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII, thanks to an alleged photo leak TMZ has published. The new shots, which are purported to feature full-size space vehicles from the sci-fi franchise, have strongly hinted that Han Solo's iconic spaceship and others will be included in Jj Abrams upcoming reboot.

If the photos are real, they are evidence that Abrams' team has decided to create full-size versions of the vehicles that George Lucas' movies only made in miniature model sizes. It will also indicate that Episode VII will use minimal CGI effects in favour of high spec props and spacecraft models. Eagle-eyed observers also spotted what looks like an X-Wing starfighter amongst the other unknown constructions.

The photos were evidently taken in some kind of cavernous hangar which fans are speculating could be England's Pinewood Studios, where much of the movie's filming will take place. Vast sets are shown being built out of wood and covered with ladders and scaffolding as Abrams' vision slowly takes form.

Is Roberto Orci The Right Choice To Direct 'Star Trek 3'?

Roberto Orci Jj Abrams

Roberto Orci is allegedly in discussions to direct ‘Star Trek 3.’ The job had originally been pegged to go to J.J. Abrams, although (unless you noticed) Abrams has got his hands full directing the upcoming ‘Star Wars Episode VII.’ Abrams had directed the first two 'Star Trek' movies from the rebooted franchise, 2009’s ‘Star Trek’ and 2013’s ‘Star Trek Into Darkness,’ but the lure of ‘Star Wars’ was apparently too much for him to stick around to direct a third movie.

Roberto Orci Star Trek 3 Roberto Orci is in discussions to direct 'Star Trek 3' since J.J. Abrams departure from the project

So, who is Roberto Orci? Does he have what it takes to take over from J.J. Abrams, and does he have the CV to back it up? The answer’s pretty much a straightforward ‘yes.’ Orci has also been involved with the previous two 'Star Trek' movies, working on both as an executive producer. So, it’s safe to say that he knows the project pretty well. It sounds like they’ve essentially chosen Abram’s right hand man to take his place.

Zac Efron And Lupita Nyong'o Still To Join 'Star Wars Episode VII' Cast?

Zac Efron Lupita Nyong'o Jj Abrams

Zac Efron and Lupita Nyong’o had both been heavily tipped to be joining the cast of Star Wars Episode VII. So, imagine our surprise when the cast was announced earlier this week but their names weren’t on the list!  Although Jj Abrams has announced a string of actors billed to appear in his upcoming movie, there are rumours that the casting announcement isn’t yet complete. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Abrams “has another substantial role to fill - and it’s a female part.” How much truth there is to this report is obviously debatable, but we do know that there’s been strong evidence suggesting both Nyong’o and Efron will be joining the cast.

Star Wars cast Is the Episode VII cast complete, or will there be a second announcement?

Nyong’o was reported to have met with director Abrams in March when they discussed the Oscar-winning actress playing one of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s offspring. Lupita is probably the hottest actress around at the moment, fresh off her Academy Award win for her performance in 12 Years a Slave. Although Lupita met with Abrams in March, she hasn’t been the only female actress rumoured to have landed a role in Episode VII. Newcomer Maisie Richardson-Sellers’ name has also cropped up a few times. It’s not too unlikely for a fairly unknown actress to be cast, since relatively unheard of Daisy Ridley was announced as a main cast member on Tuesday.

They are just two parts of a pretty wicked ensemble cast that also includes Joe Smith, Mackenzie Crook, Lili Taylor and Minka Kelly, but in spite of all the big names, Almost Human is still struggling to win everyone over with its first episode.
