J.K. Rowling has released a short 1500 word story on Pottermore detailing the lives of Harry Potter and the rest of the Hogwarts gang 16 years after they defeated Lord Voldemort and the Death Eaters.

The story is written from the viewpoint of Daily Prophet reporter Rita Skeeter who continues to meddle and gossip monger. Harry, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger and Ginny Weasley are all attending the Quidditch World Cup Final in the Patagonian Desert where Skeeter is celebrity spotting. The four friends and now couples are still hugely popular and Skeeter reports how large crowds have turned out to see them.

Harry and Ginny are now married, as we discovered at the end of The Deathly Hallows Part 2, and have two children together, James and Albus. Harry has become a famous Auror, just as he always planned and is evidently suffering some injuries from his job with another scar adding to the famous lightning bolt. Ginny has become a sports reporter for the Daily Prophet and is reporting on the World Cup, much to Skeeter's irritation.

As for Ron and Hermione, we all knew the bushy haired and brainy Granger would soar to meteoric heights. She is Deputy Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement whilst Ron, after spending two years as an Auror, now helps his brother George run the joke emporium Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes. The pair have two children, Hugo and Rose, who are also at the Cup Final. 

Other characters who are mentioned include Neville Longbottom who is a Herbology teacher at Hogwarts and is married to Hannah (Abbot?); a happily married Luna Lovegood who has twin boys and remains as eccentric as ever; and the still-married Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour with a daughter, Victoire, who is still chasing after Teddy Lupin. 

Rowling's books have been hugely successful and enchanted an entire generation of children and adults alike. They were made into a popular film franchise starring Daniel Radcliffe as Harry, Rupert Grint as Ron and Emma Watson as Hermione.
