The daughter of the late Joan Rivers has settled a medical malpractice lawsuit against the New York City clinic blamed for her mother’s death in 2014, for a sum reported to be eight figures.

Melissa Rivers filed the suit against Yorkville Endoscopy in January 2015, after her mother lost consciousness during a routine throat operation at the clinic in August 2014. She was rushed to hospital and placed on life support, but didn’t regain consciousness before passing away a week later at the age of 81.

A source told gossip site TMZ that the figure reached in the settlement was in eight figures, but the precise amount was not disclosed.

Since Her Death It has been three months since the sudden and tragic death of iconic comedienne Joan Rivers, and on Wednesday (Dec 10th), her daughter Melissa finally commented on her passing for the first time during an emotional speech.

It seems that Kathy Griffin may have finally decided to sign on as the new host of E!’s ‘Fashion Police’. TMZ are reporting that the flame haired comedian has now been confirmed as the show’s new host, replacing the late Joan Rivers.

On Friday (September 19th) fans of Joan Rivers were left puzzled after the late comedian appeared to post an endorsement for Apple’s new iPhone 6 on her Facebook page.

Accompanied by a picture of an iPhone 4, the post read, "This badass is being replaced by an iPhone 6 (not the fat one). I got this one in 2010 and after 4 years, my only complaint is that apps are now designed for bigger screens, and the battery is getting tired. Never had a case for it, since it was most beautiful on its own. Great achievement in design. Great product. #apple #iphone #tech.”

The inquest into the death of legendary comedienne Joan Rivers has uncovered the suspicion of improper procedures and unethical behaviour. It has been alleged that the hospital in which she was taken ill a week before her death allowed an unlicensed doctor to perform an unauthorised medical procedure on the 81-year-old star, CNN reported.

An improperly authorised medical procedure was performed on Joan Rivers, according to allegations.

Even though the doctor in question was Rivers’ personal ear-throat-nose physician, a biopsy that he performed on her vocal cords, presumably to discover the origin of the throat complaint that had led her to be there in the first place, was done so without Rivers’ prior consent.

It has been five days since Joan Rivers was hospitalized and put on life support after going into cardiac and respiratory arrest after she stopped breathing during a minor throat procedure, and her daughter Melissa, has given an update on her current status.

Rivers still remains on life support

"On behalf of my mother and our family, we are extremely grateful for all the love and support we've received," Melissa said. "At this time she does remain on life support. I know my mother would be overwhelmed by the continued outpouring of kindness and I want to thank everyone for keeping us in their prayers."

We've been so shocked by Joan Rivers' increasingly outlandish antics over the past few years (and well before) that few of us were surprised when she did something as mild as storm off set in a recent interview with CNN.

Joan Rivers stormed off set last week in a segment which aired on Saturday (5th July).

The 81-year-old comedian was promoting her new autobiography Diary of a Mad Diva on the news channel when she took umbrage with presenter Fredricka Whitfield in a segment which aired on Saturday (5th July). Rivers believed Whitfield was attacking her and being deliberately "negative".

Will Kim Kardashian ever forgive Joan Rivers for her comments about North West? It appears not, if supposed events at the NBC Upfronts are anything to go by!

People are once again outraged at something Joan Rivers said – what else is new? The 80-year-old comedienne tried to make a joke about the lack of space in her Malibu pad – except for some reason she decided it would be appropriate to make it at the expense of Ariel Castro’s victims. According to Rivers, the three women who were held against their will for a decade and repeatedly raped and abused, “had more space” and “got to live rent-free for more than a decade”. The shock comedienne made the original  inflammatory comment during her appearance on the Today show on Tuesday.

Then on Wednesday, speaking to TMZ, she dove even deeper into the controversy. “They got to live rent free for more than a decade,” a defiant 80-year-old Rivers told TMZ on Wednesday.

Joan Rivers has slammed Lena Dunham for being overweight in a new interview on The Howard Stern Show. The 80 year-old television personality heavily criticised the Girls writer and actress' stance on body image, namely that she doesn't feel the need to conform to the more Hollywood ideals of female body shape. Comedian Rivers is known for her tendency for incendiary comments but in her radio interview with Stern she drove home her distaste for Dunham's image despite the host's attempt to defend the 27 year-old star.

"Oh, every woman gives a s**t," Rivers retorted, adding "That's wrong. You are sending a message out saying 'It's okay. Stay fat. Get diabetes. Everybody die. Lose your fingers.'" As much as it pains us to say it because we frankly prefer to think of Jennifer Lawrence as a magical, peace-bringing unicorn, the actress’ so-called “feud” with Joan Rivers continues. It continues on Rivers’ part anyway. A month after she and Lawrence had it out over the commedienne’s show Fashion Police, which essentially consists of her scrutinizing famous people’s hair, makeup, outfits and bodies for an hour every week, Rivers has issued another scathing comment, directed at the 23-year-old actress.

Apparently there's still at least one person left, who is not a fan of Lawrence.

Apparently in response to Lawrence’s recent statements on fat shaming in the media, Rivers said for the New York Post: “I love that she's telling everyone how wrong it is to worry about retouching and body image, and meanwhile, she has been touched up more than a choir boy at the Vatican. Look at her posters.”

Despite her Twitter apology, Peaches Geldof is still in hot water for tweeting the names of two mothers, whose babies were involved in abuse by disgraced rock star Ian Watkins. The daughter of Bob Geldof apologized and explained that she had assumed the names were already public knowledge, however she is still under investigation, according to the Daily Mail. The concern was that her tweets could expose the two children, who were granted lifelong anonymity by a court order, after their mothers had allowed Watkins to abuse them.

Peaches apologised profusely for the comment, but these are some tweets that may come back to haunt her.

While information on the case mostly ends here (save for the few tweets by the socialite herself), this isn’t the first time that social media has gotten the better out of a celebrity. Luckily, most of the time some Twitter TMI is only likely to provide some fodder for the gossip websites, rather than have real-world consequences. Cosmo Allegretti, the puppeteer who made his name on the children's show Captain Kangaroo, died on July 26. The sad news was confirmed by his friend, attorney John Munzel, who made the announcement on Wednesday 7 August.

Bill Cosby hosted a segment of Captain Kangaroo, the show Allegretti worked on.

The puppeteer died of emphysema, at the age of 86.

Those of you watching E! News this week you may have been surprised to see reporter Giuliana Rancic appear on screen completely naked during Thursday (June 13) night's episode. For those of you still wondering just why she appeared on screen without any closes on, it wasn't because some divine intervention or drunken charade, but instead was part of an 'assignment' given to her by E!'s leading lady Joan Rivers.

Rivers was celebrating her 80th birthday this week and to keep the festivities going even while she was at work, the octogenarian was given full control over E! News for one week. On Thursday she decided to give the E! Fashion Police star an extra special responsibility, making her read out a segment on the news in her birthday suit. She stood alongside co-host Jason Kennedy (who didn't seem to mind her new wardrobe) and fulfilled her duties as though she was clothed, whilst Kennedy watched on (in a suit).

Joan Rivers may be nearing 80 and is probably made predominately of plastic now, but that still hasn't stopped her from regularly speaking her mind in a bid to knock people down a peg or two. Her latest victim is the Grammy-winning Brit singer Adele, who Rivers claimed during a chat with HuffPost Live needs to lay off the fatty food.

Kelly Osbourne is doing fine after her seizure on Thursday.

But her episode, which happened before a live studio audience, while Kelly was recording an episode of E!’s Fashion police, gave everyone around her quite the scare. Apparently, Kelly turned to her co-host Melissa Rivers and said: “I don’t feel good,” before falling to the ground and seizing. She was then rushed to a local hospital, where she remained for a while. According to Miss Osbourne herself, this is the first time she’s suffered a seizure, but what’s more worrying is that the doctors are still unable to tell what it was that caused the episode, according to TMZ. There have been no following seizures and friends Melissa and Joan Rivers, who went to see Kelly in the hospital, report that she’s “doing fine”.

Kelly Osbourne has been hospitalised after suddenly collapsing into a seizure on the set of her fashion diss show 'Fashion Police'.

The TV star was filming at the E! building on Wilshire Blvd in LA alongside her co-star Melissa Rivers before she suddenly stopped and told her, 'I don't feel good.' She then keeled over and started having violent convulsions before seemingly a member of the audience came up to administer first aid. It wasn't long before the star seemed to come round from the ordeal but she was still subsequently taken to an ambulance on a stretcher with a white sheet covering her body so as not to give away who she was. One person held up another sheet in an attempt to screen the commotion from view. According to TMZ who obtained pictures on the ambulance's arrival, Kelly has never before suffered any kind of seizure. Her co-star Joan Rivers told the publication that after seeing her, she seemed 'fine' and Kelly herself has Tweeted her fans to reassure them of her condition.

'Thank U all 4 UR beautiful well wishes yes I did have a seizure they are just trying to figure out why?' She wrote on her Twitter page accompanied by a photo of her heavily tattooed forearm being hooked up to a drip. Us Weekly have reported that they've been told she is 'awake, alert and in stable condition' but no other information has yet been uncovered.

Joan Rivers is really taking the heat off Seth MacFarlane following his performance at the Oscars on Sunday night (February 24, 2013), dubbed "sexiest, racist, anti-Semitic and stale," by the Los Angeles News.

Anyway, the Family Guy man can breathe a long sigh of relief after Joan Rivers went off on a cruel tirade at British star Adele during an appearance on the Late Show With David Letterman this week. Of course, Rivers has made a career from her close-to-the-bone putdowns, though the self-appointed fashion critic appeared to go one step too far in New York.

Oddly, Rivers began by saying meeting Adele was one of the highlights of her Oscars night, with Letterman agreeing she was a "lovely woman." However, things began to turn ugly when the comedienne spread out her arms and puffed out her cheeks - inferring Adele was a little on the heavy side...for no apparent reason. The audience groaned in response, a few heckled, and Letterman looked irritated and annoyed. Rivers pressed on: "Oh no, she's thin. Can we just talk to each other here? What is her song, 'Rolling in the Deep?' She should add 'fried chicken." More was to come, with Rivers revealing how Adele had apparently confided in her about singing. "She was saying, 'My throat, my throat! I don't know if I can swallow!' and I said, 'Oh yeah, you can swallow."

Joan Rivers summoned her rangers on the micro blogging site, posting "Attention Joan Rangers! It's Spirit Day, so go purple with @glaadand stand up against bullying. Henry Wrinkler also got involved, and posted a picture of himself sporting a purple shirt, with the caption: I'm wearing purple with @glaad for # SPIRIT DAY..NO ONE should be bullied for WHO THEY ARE!!!pic.twitter.com/AEA9poDl". It's surprising how much a 140 character tweet can change things, but given the viral nature of twitter, and the sheer amount of people following their favourite celebs, they sure do make a difference.

The messy details of Melissa Rivers' recent split with partner Jason Zimmerman were revealed in the latest episode of 'Joan and Melissa: Joan Knows Best?' on Tuesday (February 21st 2012).

Comedienne Joan Rivers' daughter had been in a relationship with sporting coach Zimmerman since 2008, but she was left shaken up on discovering that he had been looking for sex elsewhere on advertisement site Craigslist. The recent instalment of the Rivers' reality show saw Melissa confronting Zimmerman, with whom she had lived with alongside her son Cooper for approximately two years, over the phone after hurling a computer from her balcony.

God, whoever did him should be ashamed - or maybe he left it too long so it's much more obvious."
