It’s a psychedelic trip back to the 70s where we check out some awesome sideburns!
We’ve been anticipating this one for a while, but finally the first trailer for Paul Thomas Anderson’s Inherent Vice has made its way online and it doesn't disappoint. Starring Joaquin Phoenix, the movie marks the first time that elusive author Thomas Pynchon’s has allowed his work to be adapted for film.
Joaquin Phoenix stars in Inherent Vice
Set in the 1970s, Phoenix stars as Larry “Doc” Sportello a drug fuelled private investigator with a soft spot for his ex-girlfriend. When his ex decides to turn up out of nowhere one day, Doc becomes unwittingly embroiled in the disappearance of her latest boyfriend, a billionaire land developer.

Alongside Phoenix, the cast of Inherent Vice features a host of big names including Reese Witherspoon, Benicio Del Toro, Owen Wilson and musician Joanna Newsom. Josh Brolin also stars as Sportello’s rival on the LAPD.
Last year Brolin described the atmosphere on the Inherent Vice set as “just absolute fucking chaos every day”, saying it was “great, 'cause you feel like you've done something. But, you know, we'll see how it turns out.”
Aside from being the first of Pynchon’s novels he's allowed to be adapted for the big screen, there has also been talk of the reclusive author making a surprise cameo. When asked by the New York Times wether we should look out for the man himself, Anderson said he was "staying out of it", while neither confirming or denying the rumours.
