The Joey + Rory singer, who previously battled cervical cancer in 2014, decided to halt treatment last month (Oct15) after learning there was little more modern medicine could do for her aggressive condition, which had taken a turn for the worse just months after she underwent surgery for colorectal cancer in July (15).

On Monday (09Nov15), her husband and bandmate, Rory, offered fans an update on her illness, revealing she was hospitalised on Friday (06Nov15) and the couple is now preparing for her final days.

In a post on their blog, he wrote, "At 4 am on Friday morning we rushed Joey to the hospital in Muncie (Indiana). Her pain had become too much to bare. A few hours later the doctors told us that the pain was from the cancer tumors continuing to grow and become inflamed and we need to concentrate now on helping her be comfortable.

"Not the answer we hoped for... but the answer He (God) has given us."

Rory also shared a touching photo of Joey holding the couple's two-year-old daughter, Indiana, and added, "The last couple of mornings, I've brought Indiana up here to spend time with her mama. Both of their eyes light up the moment they see each other. It's been beautiful."

Rory continued, "Hospice is arranged and a hospital bed will be delivered later this morning. We'll have a play area on the carpet nearby - close enough for her to watch Indy play, and for Indy to turn and make sure her mama can see her."

Concluding the sad post, he wrote, "Joey is at peace with where she is and where she's going. So am I. An answer to prayer."
