One of Katy Perry's dreams came true Monday night (December 30) in Las Vegas when one of her idols, Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks, dedicated a song to her. According to MTV, the singer has long been a fan of Nicks, and has talked about her love for the singer, previously telling ABC she "sees straight through my soul."

Jim Pusey's Top 10 Albums Of 2013

It's been a year of truly brilliant sounds even if there may have been a few disappointments along the way. Take hip hop, for example: unlike 2012's records by Kendrick Lamar and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, there was nothing that really demanded your attention. Yes, Kanye's album 'Yeezus' was technically brilliant, but it's a record I'm still struggling to digest properly. Similarly, Jay-Z's 'Magna Carta, Holy Grail' (which, in my opinion, is as good as West's effort) was less immediate than the likes of 'Blueprint 3', which means it's got somewhat lost in the public consciousness.

Both those records had an interesting release as well, materialising on shelves seemingly from nowhere. They're not the only ones either; My Bloody Valentine's 'mbv' appeared online out of the blue in February after a gestation period of 20 years. Equally, Mazzy Star, Boards of Canada, Nine Inch Nails and David Bowie made unexpected and impressive returns following long hiatuses. There were also some great reissues and live records; Rilo Kiley's 'Rkives' acted as the epitaph the band deserved, Bob Dylan repainted his self-portrait with the 'Bootleg Series' and revealed songs well worth revisiting, Steve Albini finally got to share his vision for Nirvana's 'In Utero', The Velvet Underground's 'White Light, White Heat' finally got the deluxe treatment it deserved following Lou Reed's sudden death and Neil Young presented what could well be his best live album to date with the 'Cellar Door' addition to his archives series.

John Mayer Slips F-Bomb In First Katy Perry Interview Promoting 'Who You Love' [Video]

John Mayer Katy Perry

John Mayer and Katy Perry have appeared or the first time together on television being interviewed as a couple. The pop stars gave a first TV interview to promote their new duet single, 'Who You Love,' on ABC's Good Morning America. The pair have dated on and off since 2012 but are clearly now comfortable enough alongside each other to be seen and interviewed together but also record a song together.

Yesterday morning (17th Dec.) they appeared on the GMA couch, laughing and discussing the new song as well as their relationship. Speaking about the pitfalls of working with his girlfriend Perry, Mayer said: "I come in the studio and she plays stuff... And then I'll hear a melody, cause she'll be writing something, I'll hear a melody and I'll be like, 'Don't! Don't!' She was f**king..."

John Mayer - Wembley Arena, 26th October 2013 Live Review

There are very few artists who can fill an arena but make every audience member feel like they're at a small intimate venue; John Mayer is one of them. Playing his last European show in support of two albums released in quick succession, Mayer was keen to put into context his new trajectory in a live setting. Following recent throat surgery it's clear that his voice hasn't suffered, although as you'd expect he prefers his guitar to do the talking. While 2012's Born and Raised and this year's Paradise Valley have mined a rich vein of laid back country tinged seventies rock, in a stadium setting they explode into life.

John Mayer - Wembley Arena Live Review

An absence of stage theatrics let the songs take the spotlight throughout, with only a simple video backdrop. For much of the show this displayed a slow moving landscape of the aforementioned Paradise Valley in Montana. Surprisingly John Mayer kept individual songs concise with very little need for extended jams and solos, but when he did display his impressive skills across a fretboard it highlighted how tight and well rehearsed his band is. In particular Aaron Sterling's drums which were a highlight throughout. Indeed Mayer made a point of giving Sterling credit as a drum solo introduced 'Vultures' late in the main set.

Mayer seemed genuinely humbled by the reception he received at Wembley, a week after his gig at the O2. He described the evening as the "best kept secret" in the country. But despite his cult status in the UK, he was able to engage the audience in singalongs throughout and showed a real determination to deliver a special performance. Unlike recent shows he kept early material to a minimum with only one song ('No Such Thing') from his first two records. However he extended his usual set to play for two and a half hours, allowing for some surprises along the way. At the top of the show 'Queen of California' and 'Wildfire' demonstrated how well suited his new material is to an arena setting, with beefed up instrumentation to boot. Indeed Mayer encouraged the audience to get up out of their seats for the duration. The first six songs were culled from across his back catalogue, before the mood changed slightly when he decided to get a little chatty.

Katy Perry Describes 'Prism' As Evolution From 'Toddler State'

Katy Perry Russell Brand John Mayer

Katy Perry has certainly done a lot of growing up since the release of her number one album Teenage Dream - and the stark realities she's faced are clear in Prism.

The 'Roar' hitmaker has explained that several of the songs on her new album are '100% autobiographical' and admitted to USA Today that she 'was a ball of vulnerability' while writing the tracks.

Most of the emotion came out of her devastating divorce from her husband of 14 months Russell Brand, which led to her experiencing often suicidal feelings in which she addresses in the track 'And By the Grace of God'. Her song 'Ghost' is another tune directly referring to a text that Brand said asking for a divorce. Her not so straightforward relationship with singer John Mayer also contributed to some of the pain in 'Prism', but it hasn't all been doom and gloom.

Kings Of Leon Rock Global Citizen 2013 In The Name Of Ending Worldwide Poverty

Kings Of Leon Alicia Keys Stevie Wonder John Mayer

The Global Citizen festival is now in full swing after a roaring start last night (Saturday, September 28,) courtesy of Kings Of Leon. The band played to an enthusiastic crowd of some 60,000 people, with the gig being dedicated to ending world poverty. The band kicked off the charity concert with their latest single Supersoaker, a bright, uptempo guitar track perfect for the occasion.

Kings of Leon, V Festival
It was a solid festival set from the Kings, featuring a lot of fan favorites.

They soon dialed it back, however, with an earlier hit – The Bucket. Things got even more electrifying when the band had gotten warmed up and powered straight through Don’t Matter and a nice mix of old and new power anthems like Family Tree, Beautiful War and that classic Sex on Fire got turned into a crowd pleasing sing-along. KoL ended the set with another fan favorite – Use Somebody, before clearing the stage for John Mayer, followed by Alicia Keys and Stevie Wonder. It was a solid, if ever so slightly predictable set from the band, however many reviewers noted that the Kings sounded surer than they have in previous years.

John Mayer - Paradise Valley Album Review

John Mayer's second studio album in fifteen months, as the title Paradise Valley suggests, is a more contented affair than much of his previous work. Picking up the baton from 2012's Born  and Raised, Mayer continues to explore the seventies infused country rock of his previous record. But rather than simply repeating himself, he broadens his horizons by re-introducing more familiar blues elements, and some surprising guest vocalists. The resulting collection of songs may lack some of the attention grabbing guitar playing that Mayer is capable of, but ultimately, it's perhaps his most satisfying album to date.

John Mayer - Paradise Valley Album Review

While Paradise Valley continues to mine a nostalgic streak, Mayer seems at peace with his past demons. It's a very grown up record, a feat that seems to elude some artists. As 'Dear Marie' demonstrates Mayer's able to look back with a new sense of perspective: "Remember me, I'm the boy you used to love when we were fifteen Now I wonder what you think when you see me on a magazine?" He goes on to reach the conclusion: "I've got my dream, but you've got family." Despite a sense of regret, there's no bitterness, Mayer seems genuinely happy with his place in life and is eager to learn from past mistakes.

That sentiment shines through on the hazy blues anthem 'Wildfire'. It's all handclaps and catchy guitars, as Mayer tells an unnamed lover: "You can rest your head on my shoulder if you want to get older with me. Because a little bit of summer makes a lot of history." Certainly by the end of Paradise Valley Mayer is firmly looking to the future, rather than the past. That's made abundantly clear on penultimate track 'Badge and Gun' with the lines: "The lock is on the cellar door, I can't remember what it's for. I ain't been down those stairs in oh so long." Even the most headline grabbing moment on Paradise Valley, 'Paper Doll', seems relatively restrained. Speculation remains as to whether the song is a direct response to Taylor Swift, but despite some keenly observed lyrics, it seems Mayer's not overly inclined to linger on his celebrity status.

"Own The Throne": Katy Perry Launches New Fragrance, 'Killer Queen,' As She Plays Groupie To John Mayer

Katy Perry has launched her third perfume 'Killer Queen,' sold in a sceptre-shaped bottle in a royal shade of red. The supposedly regal scent, priced from £23.50, is marketed as "lethally gorgeous" with Perry herself parading about in ermine in the opulent promo video.

Using the slogan "Own The Throne," the ad shows Katy as an 18th century Queen, clad in powdered wig and being dressed in corsetry and framed skirts by bustling servants. After becoming exasperated with all the attention and tight undergarments, Queen Katy whips out a knife, cuts off her skirts and lets lose her hair before storming the throne room.

It's Luke Bryan's 'Party' And He Can Stay Atop The Charts If He Wants To!

Luke Bryan John Mayer Jimmy Buffett Earl Sweatshirt

Luke Bryan has remained at the top of the US Billboard Charts for the second week with his new album 'Crash My Party', narrowly beating John Mayer's new release 'Paradise Valley'.

The country star may have suffered a dramatic 70% decline in sales from the first week by only selling 159,000 copies this week as opposed to last week's 528,000, but John Mayer still needed to be up 144,000 to have had a chance at the top spot this week. 'Crash My Party' is the fourth studio album from Luke and his first to top the US, the US Country and the Canada charts, his previous album 'Tailgates & Tanlines' only scraping the top spot on the Country chart.

John Mayer is a little more used to success, his 2012 album 'Born and Raised' hitting number one across the world and even securing a spot at number 4 on the UK charts - an unlikely place to be for an American country record. A possible hindrance for 'Paradise Valley''s success could be that his performance of new single 'Wildfire' on 'The Late Show with David Letterman' wound up not being aired due to CBS' own problems with Time Warner Cable.

Harry Styles On Taylor Swift, Relationships & His Perfect Woman

Harry Styles Taylor Swift John Mayer One Direction

Heartbreak is the most common theme in pop songs, especially when the lyrics are addressed to another famous ex. Harry Styles, the One Direction heartthrob, has said in an interview he expects his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift to write songs about him. His pop group were interviewed by Us Weekly and Styles said "it would be hypocritical for me to say she couldn't do it because everybody writes songs based on personal experience." He, rather sensibly, accepts that in dating someone equally famous he is open to lyrical attacks. The 19-year-old also stated "I can't say I'd have dated someone less famous to avoid it."

However, there's still hope for the legions of One Direction fans who are not in the public eye. He claimed he considers dating everyone in the same was as "you like people for who they are, so I couldn't say I want to date someone less famous because of the hassle. You like who you like." Styles discussed what sort of girl he'd like to find. So if you have any of the following qualities, you may well be in for a chance: "someone with a cute laugh and a good smile"; "someone you can have fun with"; who enjoys "trying new things and going out new places."

Katy Perry Hints At Further Musical Evolution In Second 'Roar' Clip [Video]

Katy Perry John Mayer

As she continues to ready us all for her long-awaited third album, Prism, Katy Perry has put together another video that seems to indicate that the singer is moving away from her bubblegum pop style of old, and will be branching out to a darker, more sophisticated sound. In her second clip, titled 'The Third Coming,' Katy attends the burial of her old candy-covered image, a day after releasing a video of her setting fire to a blue wig. Does this mean the end of her cleavage is coming? We dearly hope not.

Katy Perry
Perry promises her album will be more 'mature'

The videos and the golden trucks are the only indicators we've had to tell us about her new album, which is set for a October 22 release, but the singer has made numerous efforts to indicate that she won't just be making another Teenage Dream. She has said in recent interviews that her sound on the album is more mature than her past releases, but then again Perry's ideas of what 'mature' music sounds like may differ dramatically to what others think. One thing we do know for certain; John Mayer won't be appearing on the album.

Katy Perry Is Simply "Friends" With Robert Pattinson And Has No Wish To "Disrespect" Kristen Stewart

Katy Perry has set the record straight when it comes to her relationship with Robert Pattinson. It seems highly unlikely, judging from her recent interview with Elle magazine, that the 'Part of Me' singer is having a liaison with the Twilight star.

Katy Perry

She felt it was particularly important to emphasis the amicability of her friendship with Kristen Stewart, Pattinson's former co-star and ex-girlfriend. After rumours circulated relating to Perry's alleged involvement with Pattinson, Perry text Stewart to clear up any misunderstanding. In the Elle interview, she said "I sent her a text message saying: 'I know you've seen all this stuff but you know I would never disrespect you. I'm not that person.'" She went on to verify that she was "just trying to be a friend to him" and commented on the unfair assumptions the media made simply because she happened to be female and comforting her friend.

Katy Perry Breaks Silence On Relationship With Russell Brand Including His ‘Divorce Text’

Katy Perry Russell Brand John Mayer

Katy Perry, in an interview with US Vogue, has revealed some of the details surrounding her mysterious divorce from comedian Russell Brand. The ‘Pieces of Me’ singer claimed the marriage began to disintegrate as they were apart frequently with Brand becoming “very controlling” when Perry toured. Further difficulties arouse when Brand, on his comedy tour, would use Perry as material. Perry said this was made apparent when she “had come to surprise him at one of his shows”, not being aware she was in the audience at the time.

The marriage fell into a similar pattern of most celebrity unions where Perry claims “when I met him he wanted an equal, and I think a lot of times strong men do want an equal”. Unfortunately for Perry, Brand’s ideal did not meet his expectations in reality.

Perry described her former husband as a “very smart” “magical man” when she first met him. Perry claims that she was deeply in love with her husband when they married in December 2009.

Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul has married his long-time girlfriend Lauren Parsekian at a ceremony at Cottage Pavilion at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu on Sunday (May 26, 2013), according to Us Weekly. The couple were photographed embracing under a pretty swish looking ivy-draped archway, over at People.com.

Parsekian, the co-CEO of Finding Kind Productions, wore a strapless corseted Armsale gown with pearls, while husband Aaron wore a Burberry tuxedo and custom bow tie. The wedding was a 1920s carnival inspired affair, with a Ferris wheel, swing ride and photo booth, while  blues musician John Mayer played live. Renowned magician David Blaine performed tricks for guests under a traditional red-and-white striped tent.  "Well that was the most magical night of my life," said Parsekian in an Instagram post from the evening. "A day will never go by without me reminding you how special you are. Thanks for last night my pretty little bird," Paul captioned a picture on the photo-sharing site.

The pair first met at the Coachella music festival, with Paul proposing during a Parisian vacation on New Year's Eve 2012. He stars as meth dealer Jesse Pinkman alongside Bryan Cranston in AMC's Breaking Bad. It returns on August 11, 2013 for the final season.

It was a blues infused weekend at Eric Clapton's fourth tri-annual Crossroads Guitar Festival on April 12th - 13th 2013 at Madison Square Garden, New York with guests ranging from the legends, to the more modern performers of the genre. 68-year-old Clapton, who remains to be the only three-time inductee in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, was seen enjoying a jam session with the King of blues BB King, 87, while John Mayer teamed with country star Keith Urban to show that there was little to sneer at with modern blues-pop. 'The Blues Brothers' star Dan Aykroyd, also made an appearance in a pair of Ray-Bans and a suit reminiscent of the 1980 movie, as well as Texan guitarist Gary Clark Jr. with his band and 76-year-old former Muddy Waters member Buddy Guy.

After Three Years (And Katy Perry) John Mayer Announces 44-Date Tour

John Mayer Katy Perry Taylor Swift

Following relationships with Taylor Swift and Katy Perry, John Mayer has been tabloid fodder for the past couple of years, though it seems the blues musician is finally ready to get back to doing what he does best. Mayer returns to the road for a sprawling 44 date tour across North and South America this summer.

There is more to Mayer's live absence than a couple of female pop-stars however, he has undergone two rounds of surgery to repair a granuloma in his throat and was, at one stage, told he may never sing again. "For me to get back onstage and play again, it's just like, 'Oh right, this is what I'm able to do. This is what I've been able to do while I was watching a whole bunch of Westerns every night and making rice bowls with chicken,'" Mayer told Rolling Stone of his return, "It's been very fun to uncover it and rediscover it again."

Mayer recently played a short set at a benefit concert in Montana and will play a couple of smaller warm-up shows in Alabama and New Orleans before taking off on his full tour. Dates include a huge show at Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl on October 5.

John Mayer And Katy Perry Hire Out Cinema For Valentine's Day!

John Mayer Katy Perry

John Mayer’s a sly old dog, this we know but, after this evidence, you can’t deny he knows how to treat whichever lady he seems to be with at the time to a darn fine Valentine’s Day. The last few days have seen a couple of tales creep up regarding how celebs spent their February 14th, with Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon’s horse-drawn carriage ride around Central Park among the highlights, but Mayer’s definitely up there with this one: he hired out an entire cinema for him and current girlfriend Katy Perry.

This hasn’t been officially confirmed by either party, but TMZ report that there were no other visitors spotted entering or leaving the Visa Theater in East Hollywood during the time that the couple were there – which was roughly two hours according to their source. Curiously though, the only film that was being shown was the fifth Die Hard installment, A Good Day To Die Hard, surely not the sort of Valentine’s Day fare that Perry and Mayer would be into? Then again, given that they’d managed to book out the entire cinema, who’s to say that they wouldn’t also ensure that they had the choice of what film they were going to watch?

Perry was spotted leaving with a DVD, so maybe they took that and demanded to watch it in there? Though you do wonder if that was the case why they’d bother going to all that effort. But then perhaps that’s why we’re depressingly single and John Mayer isn’t…

Katy Perry Ring NOT An Engagement Ring, Despite Rumors

Katy Perry John Mayer

That Katy Perry ring? Sorry folks, it’s not an engagement ring, as it happens. When Katy Perry was spotted sporting a ring, after a romantic Valentine’s dinner with her dubious beau John Mayer, rumours instantly sparked that the ‘Piece Of Me’ singer had gotten engaged again. Perry was previously married to British comedian Russell Brand, though their marriage was short-lived.

People magazine have managed to get an answer to the big question of whether or not Perry and Mayer are indeed engaged and it’s pretty dull news, we’re afraid: they are not engaged, a source told the magazine. So, it looks as though Mayer purchased the unusual ring for his girlfriend and… she just happened to slip it on her ring finger. Perhaps that finger had been feeling a little light since she separated from ex husband Russell.

Mayer had reportedly hand-picked the unusual red ruby heart-shaped design for Katy. It was designed by Daniel Gibbings, a Santa Barbara-based jeweller and designer though it looks as though it was merely a heartfelt Valentine’s gesture and nothing more serious, at this stage. A rep for Gibbings to People that the ring isn’t a traditional engagement style ring – though it could always be used for that purpose, if that’s what the customer wanted. “[Gibbings] uses a lot of texture. The style of his engagement rings are not the usual Neil Lane looking ring. They are definitely more trendy or boho,” said the rep.

Katy Perry, Grammys Dress 2013Katy Perry's Grammys Dress Caused Quite A Stir

It's safe to say Katy Perry stole the entire show at the Grammy awards on Sunday evening (February 10, 2013) in a mint green Gucci dress that featured a rather revealing keyhole cut-out. It quickly caused excitement on Twitter, with fans of the star lauding her daring choice of dress. It wasn't just her followers who noticed either, with various amusing photographs of celebrities in awe of Perry's, ugh, assets, circulating online today.

Elton John, of all people, was caught out cheekily eyeing up Perry's dress, while television star Ellen Degeneres made a joke of the elephant in the room, staring intently at Perry's chest as her girlfriend Portia De Rossi looked on. "I was inspired by Priscilla Presley in the Seventies... Married to Elvis Presley, of course," Perry told Ryan Seacrest of her Grammys dress. Seacrest himself joked that he had luckily had plenty of practice at staying focused when at eye level. One man who did manage to keep his eyes on the ball was Perry's boyfriend John Mayer, who was photographed staring straight into Katy's eyes when the pair were snapped taking their seats. The 35-year-old blues guitarist admitted that he's been thinking about marrying Perry, 28, sometime in the future. When asked whether a wedding would be a possibility, Mayer said, "Of course. I mean, I'm still the kid from Connecticut. That's what you do," according to the Daily Mail.

John Mayer's roster of ex-girlfriends is quite a list, and having admitted "I was a jerk" to most of them, it's a wonder he's managed to get so many A-List ladies onto his arm.

He's been linked to Friends star Jennifer Aniston, and singers Jessica Simpson and Taylor Swift. Speaking to CBS Sunday Morning (an interview that will air on February 10th) he spoke with regret about how he treated them. He famously referred to Simpson as "sexual napalm" and was far too open about his and Aniston's break-up in an issue of Playboy, as DigitalSpy recall.

"It's very liberating when you finally realise it's impossible to make everyone like you," he says. "I wanted everybody to like me. I thought I was one shuck and jive away in every direction."

John Mayer And Katy Perry Restore Our Faith In Celebrity Romance

After 2013 hit with a storm of high-profile breakups and divorces (Rupert Sanders, Justin Bieber and does anyone even remember when Taylor Swift and Harry Styles were a thing?) it’s comforting to see a celebrity romance that is still going strong – namely, Katy Perry and John Mayer.

On Friday, the pair slipped out for a hike in the Hollywood Hills in Fryman Canyon. The two looked relaxed and casual and, after grabbing a quick lunch at Sunset Towers, they took to the scenic hills for some quality time together. The perfect way to spend a lazy Friday, right? The sightings of John and Katy together have become a regular thing recently, ever since the two attended a Rolling Stones anniversary gig in each other’s company last month and both of the high-profile celebs have been gushing about the thriving relationship of late.

Most recently, Mayer gave an interview with Rolling Stone, in which he talked about his ladylove and how he was able to overcome his struggle with granuloma to return to performing onstage. We don't want to jinx it, but, with a brand new relationship and a renewed career, what could go wrong for Mayer? Looks like it’s all on the up and up for this couple.
