Adele Dazeem: Will John Travolta Make His Second Oscars Flub?

John Travolta

It's strange how TV works. Though John Travolta made one of the biggest, most nonsensical flubs at last year's Oscars - announcing Frozen singer Idina Menzel as "Adele Dazeem" - the actor has been invited back to have another stab at presenting at Sunday's ceremony. Travolta's mishap sent Twitter into overdrive in 2014 and the producers are probably hoping for a few extra intrigued channel hoppers this time around.

Ten Of The Best Quentin Tarantino Movie Soundtrack Songs

Quentin Tarantino John Travolta Uma Thurman

Let's forget the controversy for a minute. In Django Unchained, Quentin Tarantino has managed to assemble another top draw soundtrack; established names like Ennio Morricone are including, as past and present soul and R&B stars like James Brown and Rick Ross, right up to modern contemporaries like John Legend - even Tupac makes an appearance. But how does it compare with some of the great sound tracks that the director has been known for over the past three decades; in fact, what are the best songs to appear in Tarantino films? We've had a bit of a think and have put together ten songs that we don't think any self-respecting fan of the man could leave out.

John Travolta Can't Stop Pilot Dishing About Alleged Relationship

John Travolta

You may not know this about John Travolta, but the actor is a certified airplane pilot and owns an aircraft company – a fact, which has only recently become relevant after a pilot, who worked for Travolta in the 80s, came forward with the claim that his relationship with Travolta went far beyond professional. Too much information? Feel free to read back and catch up. The pilot, Douglas Gotterba, has since been allowed by a California appeals court to share his story.

John Travolta
The details of Travolta's confidentiality agreement with Gotherba are sketchy.

According to Gotterba, via The Hollywood Reporter, he worked for Travolta for six years, between 1981 and 1987. In that time, the pilot claims to have started an intimate relationship with his employer, before entering into a confidentiality agreement (according to Travolta’s legal team.) The appeals court’s ruling opens up a possibility for 64-year-old Gotterba to dispute the terms of his termination, as well as the confidentiality agreement itself. It’s an avenue the pilot plans to pursue, according to the New York Daily News.

He’s not the first actor to don drag for a role, these other actors have all dressed up like the fairer sex for performances in the past.

'Bring Out The Gimp': Pulp Fiction's Masked Man Speaks

Quentin Tarantino John Travolta

It’s hard to believe it’s been 20 years since Quentin Tarantino unleashed Pulp Fiction at the Cannes Film Festival and took home the Palme d’Or. But on Friday night, stars Uma Thurman and John Travolta joined Tarantino in Cannes for a special anniversary screening of the film. But we’ve got to ask, where was The Gimp?

Fox Moves Into The Televised Musical Niche With "Grease Live" Set For 2015

John Travolta Olivia Newton-John Zac Efron

Earlier this year, NBC’s The Sound of Music Live!  TV musical starring Carrie Underwood received largely mixed reviews, but apparently it was good enough for Fox to give it a go as well. The network has ordered a three hour live broadcast of the classic musical to air sometime in 2015. Much like The Sound of Music, this live TV event will be based on the original Broadway musical, staged in 1971, as well as the 1978 film starrng John Travolta and Olivia Newton John. With $400 million in worldwide profits to date, Grease is by far the biggest grossing movie musical of all time.  The adapted version will feature a cast of young actors (naturally), but so far, no casting decisions have been made. The production partners will also be announced at a later date.

Zac Efron
Online speculation immediately attached Efron's name to the project.

"From Broadway to film, and across generations, Grease is one of the most beloved musical stories ever told -- and we can't wait to bring it to our air in a spectacular live event," Shana C. Waterman, senior vp event series at Fox, said for The Hollywood Reporter. "Its iconic characters and addictive songs make it the perfect fit for Fox, and we’re going to give it the kind of star power and production quality to make every Sandy, Danny, Rizzo and Kenickie out there want to get up and sing along."

Fox Is Bringing Back 'Grease!' But What Can We Expect From The Three Hour Live Show?

John Travolta

Musicals don't much bigger or well remembered than Grease, but for those of us who learned every single word sung by John Travolta and Olivia Newton John in the movie, there’s a mixture of anticipation and worry over Fox's latest announcement. The network revealed yesterday that they are airing a three hour live broadcast of Grease in 2015, bringing Sandy and Danny back for a whole new generation. So what exactly does Fox have in mind for Grease and who might be dawning a T-Birds jacket when the musical hits the small screen?

John Travolta and Olivia Newton JohnSandy and Danny as they are now, John Travolta and Olivia Newton John

Grease the musical started life in 1971 and was first performed in a theatre in Chicago. Written by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey the musical eventually moved to Broadway and was performed in London in 1973. Many future famous faces made an appearance in Grease’s early touring cast, including Patrick Swayze, Richard Gere (who stared in the London production) and John Travolta. Travolta would end up becoming the Danny Zucko we all remember after Grease landed on the big screen in 1978. Grease the movie would become the highest grossing musical of all time taking nearly $400 million at the worldwide box office.

Fox Orders 'Grease Live' 3-Hour Broadcast To Air In 2015

John Travolta Olivia Newton-John

Fox is diversifying its programming output by scheduling a live performance of the production Grease Live to be aired on its channel sometime next year. The decision to bring the hit musical to the small screen has been prompted by the runaway success of NBC's The Sound of Music, which drew 22 million viewers last December.

Grease Live will reportedly feature a "young ensemble cast" and will be based on the 1971 Broadway version of the story with the songs that the 1978 feature film helped lend worldwide success, such as 'Summer Nights' and 'You're The One That I Want.'

'Noah' And Five Other Movies That Sparked Religious Controversy

Russell Crowe Mel Gibson John Travolta

Darren Aronofsky’s Noah might have faced some religious controversy during its initial opening, but its ridden that wave right to the top of the US box office, becoming a certified sucess already. As Aronofsky surely knew, any movie featuring a religious theme or borrowing from the bible is almost certain to find itself in some kind of hot water, whether it causes protests or even ends up getting an outright ban. For some movies the ensuing publicity translates into box office sales, for others, a bit of controversy doesn't end up creating cash. Here are five other films with religious leanings that faced controversy long before Noah stormed the box office.

John Travolta's 'Adele Dazeem' Oscar Faux Pas Leads To 'Travoltify Your Name' Tool

John Travolta Ellen Degeneres Idina Menzel

Tom Cruise And John Travolta Attend Scientology Super-Cathedral Opening In Clearwater

Tom Cruise John Travolta Kelly Preston

Tom Cruise, John Travolta and Kelly Preston were three of around 6000 people in attendance to usher in a new era for Scientology, represented by the religion’s new ‘Flag Building’ in Clearwater, Florida. As the tallest building in the region, it will home to the new ‘Super Power’ program.

Perhaps the three most famous members of the cult religion watched as David Miscavige gave a speech, introducing the terrifying, 377,000-square-foot Flag Building to his dedicated followers. This is the first time members have a place to practice the 'Super Power' program, which was developed by founder L Ron Hubbard in the 1970s.

This wasn’t just a walk-in-affair; the scientologists knew that if it were a free-for-all, people would just stroll up, make fun of them and probably throw things, so security was tight. But instead of the 10,000 people predicted, around 6000 people turned up. Despite this, dedicated followers still weren’t allowed in.
