The Face/Off director was presented with the prestigious Samurai Award, which celebrates those who have made outstanding contributions to the art of filmmaking.

However, Woo insisted he was not worthy of the title, which has previously been bestowed upon fellow directors Takashi Kitano and Tim Burton.

He said, "I have made a lot of films, but it hardly qualifies as making a special contribution. I'm just a hard-working filmmaker. I'm very thankful to receive this award and also very surprised."
