Johnny Depp Talks About Donald Trump Assassination At Glastonbury

Johnny Depp Donald Trump Glastonbury Festival

Johnny Depp seemed to threaten the American president Donald Trump with assassination during a brief appearance at Glastonbury Festival.

The 54 year old actor appeared in person to introduce a screening of his 2004 film The Libertine on Thursday (June 22nd), and asked the assembled crowd: “Can you bring Trump here?”

When the people booed him in response, Depp told them: “You misunderstand completely. When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?”

Johnny Depp E-mails Show He Was In Debt In 2009

Johnny Depp

New leaked e-mails show that Johnny Depp was more than £3 million in debt approximately eight years ago, despite being one of the world’s best-paid actors at the time.

The 54 year old Pirates of the Caribbean star is currently suing his former business managers for about £22 million, alleging that they mishandled his earnings for the best part of two decades. They, in turn, are refuting Depp’s claims and say that his financial mishaps are down to his lavish spending.

However, a new e-mail thread dating from December 2009, revealed in court documents obtained by Deadline that were filed in a Los Angeles court on Monday (June 19th), show that the managers were warning Depp about his spending eight years ago.

Brenton Thwaites Enjoyed Johnny Depp's Irreverent Approach

Brenton Thwaites Johnny Depp

After growing up with the franchise, 27-year-old Australian actor Brenton Thwaites is the latest new cast member joining the Pirates of the Caribbean gang. In Dead Men Tell No Tales, he plays the son of Will and Elizabeth (Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley). So to prepare for the role, he rewatched all four movies.

"I remember seeing the first one when I was a teenager," Thwaites says. "And I've been a fan of the franchise ever since, so it's good to be a part of one! I think it's popular because of the freedom. It's a fantasy to just get a boat and sail out into the ocean. Pirates don't have rules."

Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Review

Weak

Subtitled Salazar's Revenge in the UK, this fifth film in the long-running series never quite gets its sea legs. With a waterlogged script and a startlingly murky production design, this is the first movie in the franchise that lacks a sense of swashbuckling merriment. It's lively enough to keep the audience watching, but it never quite makes any sense because any sensible details are lost amid the chaotic action sequences.

It opens with Henry (Brenton Thwaites), son of franchise veterans Will and Elizabeth (Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley in cameos), who is on a quest to free his father from his watery imprisonment. For this he needs Poseidon's trident, which only Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) can find with his magical compass. Except that Jack has swapped the compass to buy some whiskey. Then Will meets the feisty Carina (Kaya Scodelario), who's star-reading skills will come in handy. But the vengeful Salazar (Javier Bardem) is also after the compass and the trident, hoping to reverse his own ghostly curse. And as things heat up, Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) dives into the pursuit as well.

What follows is a series of set-pieces in which these various factions scuffle for control of people and artefacts that can lead them in their quests for power. They all talk incessantly about the elaborately complex mythology, but it never makes any sense why each person knows only fragments of the lore. And it's also not easy to hear what they're shouting amid the general chaos of yet another epically choreographed fight scene. Thankfully, the actors are hammy enough to stand out from the sea of digital effects that fill the screen.

Lawsuit Suggests "Jealous" Johnny Depp Removed Amber Heard From Film Over Sex Scenes

Johnny Depp Amber Heard

A new lawsuit has claimed that an “extremely jealous” Johnny Depp ordered his ex-wife Amber Heard to pull out of a film because of her prospective involvement in sex scenes.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star’s name has been dragged into a contractual dispute between the producers of the stalled film London Fields, who are suing Heard for $10 million for failing to act in or promote the movie. Heard, in turn, is counter-suing the producers over accusations that she was the victim of sexploitation, with her sex scenes being shot with a body double instead.

The rather sensational claims come as part of an ‘answer’ filing made the film’s chief producer, Christopher Hanley, replying to Heard’s counterclaims.

Script Writer Claims Johnny Depp "Set Aside" His 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' Script Idea Because It Contained A Female Villain

Johnny Depp

A screenwriter for the lucrative Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise has claimed that his script idea for the forthcoming fifth instalment Dead Men Tell No Tales was rejected by the movie’s star Johnny Depp, on the basis that it featured a female villain.

Writer Terry Rossio, who has credits on all five of the Pirates of the Caribbean films, has written on his personal blog this weekend that he believes his proposal for Dead Men Tell No Tales – which is known as Salazar’s Revenge outside of the U.S. – was “set aside” by the Disney studio because Depp wasn’t happy with the idea of a female villain, because of a previous film he had worked on called Dark Shadows.

Johnny Depp Hits Back At Financial Irresponsibility Claims From Former Management Group

Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp has fired back at his former management team after they claimed that the Hollywood megastar is himself responsible for being reportedly $40 million in debt, responding to a lawsuit the star had filed alleging fraud and negligence in managing his fortune.

The argument centres on a lawsuit that Depp, 53, filed back in January this year for $25 million, claiming that The Management Group handled his affairs so badly that he was approximately $40 million in debt, alleging that they failed to file his taxes in timely fashion and took out high-interest loans on his behalf.

Pirates Of The Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales (Salazar's Revenge) - Featurette and Trailer

It seems Captain Jack Sparrow has been sailing the seas as a pirate for many, many years, and in that time he's made a lot of enemies. As a young trouble-maker, he damned a pirate-hating adversary and his crew to a seabound immortality - and now Captain Salazar has returned to exact his revenge. Panic is afoot when it becomes clear that Captain Salazar has escaped his eternal torment at the bottom of the Devil's Triangle, and as much as Jack loves an adventure almost as much as he loves rum, this time he could truly be out of his depth. It will take more than his trusty compass to help him this time, but thankfully he has the help of a new headstrong maiden named Carina Smyth who happens to be a skilled astronomer, plus the return of his old friend Will Turner. Together they must uncover the Trident of Poseidon before Salazar does, and send the enemy back to their watery graves.

Forget Davy Jones' Locker and the Fountain of Youth, Captain Jack Sparrow is on an all new quest as he embarks on the hunt for the fabled trident of Poseidon. It may sound like he's set his sights far too high this time, but he's never failed the crew of the Black Pearl yet - and he really could do with a windfall right about now. To make matters worse, Capitan Salazar is back from the Devil's Triangle with his ghostly crew, and the trident is his only hope of stopping them. This time he's got the help of his old friend Will Turner, who is apparently free of his binding contract with The Flying Dutchman.

Awards season is nearly upon us, with the film industry gearing up for its annual round of back-slapping and palm-greasing, as well as honouring the most significant works that Hollywood and beyond has had to offer over the past 12 months.

However, there are a number of box office regulars and well-known faces that have never won the most prestigious prize Hollywood awards – the Best Actor or Actress Oscar. Here are half a dozen big stars who have featured in many hit movies who have, surprisingly, never collected a gong.

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them Review

Good

It's been five years since the last Harry Potter movie, and J.K. Rowling has been busy. Not only has she shepherded her two-part sequel play to the West End, but she has also written the screenplay for this spin-off prequel, which is set some 70 years before Harry was born. The American setting puts a fresh slant on her elaborately imagined wizarding world, and the film has enough lively humour to keep things entertaining, but the movie itself is thin and derivative, never quite engaging the audience with its magic.

In this alternate reality, 1926 America has forbidden all magical creatures out of fear of terrorist attacks taking place around the world. Then an expert in these beasts, the cheeky nerd Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) arrives in New York with a suitcase full of them. He's on some sort of mission, which is immediately interrupted by three escaped critters, drawing in hapless wannabe baker Jacob (Dan Fogler) and witch detective Tina (Katherine Waterston). Joined by Tina's breathy sister Queenie (Alison Sudol), this rag-tag team is trying to recapture Newt's escaped creatures when they run afoul of aggressive wizard enforcer Graves (Colin Farrell), who's working for American's magical President (Carmen Ejogo). But there's something more seriously nefarious going on in the city.

It makes for an interesting addition, that no doubt came from the success the franchise had with Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones playing Sparrow's father Captain Edward Teague. Johnny Depp Enjoyed The Madness Of Alice Through The Looking Glass

Johnny Depp

With the media busy conjecturing about the end of Johnny Depp's brief marriage to Amber Heard, the actor would clearly rather be talking about his latest movie, the sequel Alice Through the Looking Glass. "Doing this film was a real treat," he says. "I'm not a big movie watcher of myself. You always think there's something more you could do, or something different. So coming back, I had the opportunity to do that and give a more interesting performance. It was lovely to explore this story of Alice and Hatter."

Johnny Depp once again stars as Mad Hatter

In this film, Depp's Hatter is at a very low point, wasting away in his grief and regret. "Hatter has gone noticeably further down the road of insanity," Depp says. "If you are crazy or have some sort of mental dilemma, but you're not aware of it, it's great. If you're aware that you're crazy, it'll eat you alive! So this time, there are so many things Hatter has to question. It's taking the Mad Hatter and making him even more mad, more confused, more lost, more paranoid."

Johnny Depp

Alice Is Playing For Time In Wonderland Sequel 'Alice Through The Looking Glass' [Trailer + Pictures]

Mia Wasikowska Johnny Depp

Alice is back in Wonderland and this time things aren't as wonderful as they once were. Tim Burton has ceded the role of director to James Bobin for the intense sequel 'Alice Through the Looking Glass', that once again differs largely from the Lewis Carroll original.

Johnny Depp and Mia Wasikowska in Alice Through The Looking GlassAlice must return to Wonderland to rescue the Hatter

The defeat of the Jabberwocky should've brought peace to the world, but a new evil has arisen that this young woman may not be able to fight. Now getting on with her life, though still thought of as an oddity amongst her peers, Alice is revisited by Absolem in his butterfly form. He urges her to return to Wonderland to rescue the Mad Hatter and his friends from certain death in the face of a new foe.

Alice Through The Looking Glass - Teaser Trailer

Alice once again returns to Wonderland and meets a lot of familiar faces. This time her biggest enemy is Time, quite literally. As the Blue Caterpillar reminds her, 'You've been gone too long, Alice there are matters that might benefit from your attention. Friends cannot be neglected.' Instead of falling down a rabbit hole, this time Alice gains entry to wonderland through a large mirror which takes her to a topsy-turvy universe which could only be associated with Wonderland. There appear to be a few differences between the book and the new film; whilst Lewis Carol's original version of the book was based six months after the original tale, the inclusion of Time might mean that Linda Woolverton's version make time travel much quicker in Wonderland. Again, Carol used many chess analogies in the book, at the moment its unknown how much this will play a part in the movie. The majority of the lead cast from Tim Burton's 2010 version of Alice in Wonderland including Johnny Depp as Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen and Anne Hathaway as the White Queen. Alice Through The Looking Glass was directed by James Bobbin who previously worked on the 2011 Muppets film and Muppets Most Wanted.

Why Doesn't Johnny Depp Want To Win An Oscar?

Winning an Oscar would normally be the highlight of any professional actor’s career, but not for Johnny Depp! The Black Mass actor, who has won plaudits for his portrayal of the Boston-based mobster ‘Whitey’ Bulger, has said that he never wants to win at the Oscars.

Depp has been nominated three times for Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Academy Awards – in 2003 for Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, in 2004 for Finding Neverland, and in 2007 for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street – but has never won. In conversation with BBC Radio 1’s Newsbeat, he said: “I don't want to win one of those things ever, you know.”

Edward Scissorhands - Clips

Edward Scissorhands is no ordinary boy, as his name may tell. Created by a genius inventor who passed away before his subject was completed, he seems doomed to a life of solitude in a dilapidated castle. That is until the local Avon lady named Peg Boggs calls round and willingly takes the poor boy under her wing. Integrating him into civilised society isn't easy, however. While many neighbours are deeply accepting and impressed by his ability to cut hair and trim hedges, others see him as a danger with his bladed fingers that could easily cause some damage. Peg's daughter Kim is a little uneasy, despite how immediately taken Edward is of her, and her friends recognise this weakness and aim to exploit it to their advantage. Predictably, Edward's mistakes get him into a lot of trouble and he soon finds that the novelty of his presence is wearing thin.
