Johnny Depp has been accused of some reckless spending by his former business managers, including paying $3 million to give friend Hunter S. Thompson an epic send-off.

Last month the actor sued The Management Group for fraud in a $25 million suit, but now his former business managers have hit back with a cross-complaint of their own.

Johnny DeppJohnny Depp reportedly spent $3 million on Hunter S. Thompson’s funeral

The complaint, filled on Tuesday and obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, states: “Depp lived an ultra-extravagant lifestyle that often knowingly cost Depp in excess of $2 million per month to maintain, which he simply could not afford.

"Depp, and Depp alone, is fully responsible for any financial turmoil he finds himself in today.” The complaint was filled by attorney Michael Kump, who is representing TMG’S Joel and Robert Mandel.

The complaint lists a number of examples of Depp’s extravagant spending, including $75 million spent on 14 residences, $18 million on a luxury yacht and $30,000 per month on wine.

"Depp also paid over $3 million to blast from a specially-made cannon the ashes of author Hunter Thompson over Aspen, Colorado," Kump adds. Thompson, who died in 2005, was played by Depp in 1998’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

The actor remained close friends with the writer until his death and said he was fulfilling his pal’s last wish with the cannon send-off. At the time, Thompson’s widow Anita Thompson explained, "He loved explosions.”

Depp himself added: "We had talked a couple of times about his last wishes to be shot out of a cannon of his own design. All I'm doing is trying to make sure his last wish comes true. I just want to send my pal out the way he wants to go out.”
