When Tommy (Johnny Pacar), Jack (Shaun Sipos), meet for the wedding of their friends Dan (Bryan Dechart) and Skylar (Alexa PenaVega), it could not be a more perfect day. Then, steadily, things begin to go wrong - as is almost expected on any wedding day. Unfortunately for Dan and Skylar, their wedding happens to coincide with a series of catastrophes on a biblical level. As panic engulfs the streets and members of the wedding party are flung into the air like rag dolls, the survivors are faced with the reanimated bodies of those who's souls have left. Now, Tommy, Jack, Dan and Skylar have to survive the rapture after they are left behind.
In his second directorial role and first writing credit, Casey La Scala (executive producer of 'Donnie Darko') combines faithful biblical interpretation with modern horror for his portrayal of The Rapture. 'The Remaining' sees La Scala team up with writer/director Chris Dowling ('Produce: Where Hope Grows') to bring a horror movie that combines the found footage style of 'Paranormal Activity' and 'Cloverfield' with the more traditional manner of filmmaking. The film also stars Italia Ricci (Don Jon), John Pyper-Ferguson (Drive) and Liz E. Morgan in her film debut.
