Jon Gosselin, the former star of reality show Jon & Kate Plus 8, has discussed his relationship with his ex-wife Kate Gosselin in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. Jon Gosselin first rose to fame when his wife gave birth to sextuplets in 2004 (they already had twins) and their family life was covered in a series of reality programmes, including Jon & Kate Plus 8. The show focussed on Jon and his then wife, Kate, as they brought up their eight children.

The couple announced they were divorcing in 2009 after appearing together on five seasons of their reality show together. Kate Gosselin continued with the reality show which altered its title to Kate Plus 8. Although her former husband made the occasional appearance on the show, it seems their relationship has further deteriorated and they have no physical contact. Jon provided details of their frosty contact which consists of "text and email." He also declared "I don't have a relationship with Kate", emphasising "There is no relationship." According to Jon, his ex-wife is not even present when he collects their eight kids; as a "nanny comes out and I exchange the kids at her [Kate's] gate or at the bus stop."

Kate has primary custody of their eight children, despite Jon's frequent attempts to alter this in court. His last attempt was in 2010, when TMZ reported Jon's plan to take his former wife to court. Other reports, also in TMZ, suggest Gosselin was paying around $22 000 in child support every month. In this latest interview with ET, it seems Gosselin is unable to provide this as he is currently in a low paying job. Specifically, Jon is waiting tables at the Black Dog restaurant in Beckersville, Pennsylvania. However, Jon felt he should mention his contribution, stating he and his ex-wife "both support [their children] financially because she takes care of school and all that stuff, but I take care of the exact same things she takes care of, I buy their groceries. They have their own groceries at my house, their own bedrooms, their own stuff. It's doubled."

Jon is evidently struggling to keep his story straight as the last anyone heard of his living situation was that he was residing in a cabin in the woods, without access to the internet or TV. In the interview, Gosselin suggests his life as a reality star was considerably less profitable than it would appear. He maintained that he was not struggling money wise, despite stating that it was "impossible" for him to find a job. He further attempted to seemingly bluff, saying those who worked in hospitality jobs are not capable of "making ends meet."

Despite his current financial predicament, Gosselin seems content with his life, claiming "I've hit rock bottom like 20 times, and then I just bounce back and go somewhere else."
