Franco And Hill Have A True Story To Tell

Jonah Hill James Franco

James Franco has a True Story to tell and he wants to tell it to Jonah Hill. That's the premise of Franco's latest film, based on, ironically, a true story, as he plays one of the FBI's most wanted men, Christian Longo, convicted of murdering his wife and three children.

True Story
Jonah Hill plays a journalist desperate to get a story out of James Franco's convicted killer

Hill plays disgraced journalist Michael Finkel, who was fired from the New York Times and whose name has been used by Longo to escape police custody.

True Story Trailer

In 2001, Michael Finkel (Jonah Hill) was fired from his job at the New York Times for creating fictitious characters and using them in an article he published. Not long afterwards, he discovered that Christian Longo (James Franco) had used his name as an alias while on the run after murdering his wife and three children. Finkel confronted Longo in jail, whereupon Longo began to explain what happened and who was really to blame for the murder. As Finkel began to go deeper and deeper into the case, he realised that while this posed a chance to be his comeback, it could also ruin his reputation and career. He desperately hope that he was preparing to publish the true story.

Sony Pictures Planning To Combine 'Jump Street' And 'Men In Black'

Jonah Hill

Sony Pictures are in early discussions to combine two of its biggest franchises: Jump Street and Men in Black. Leaked emails from the studio's chief Amy Pascal revealed that the follow-up to 22 Jump Street would have stars Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum interacting with the universe of the sci-fi comedy.

22 Jump Street22 Jump Street starring Jonah Hill [L] and Channing Tatum [R] was a massive hit for Sony

The e-mails appear to indicate that neither Will Smith nor Tommy Lee Jones would be involved in the project, but the Jump Street helmsman Phil Lord and Chris Miller are producing and may direct.

'23 Jump Street' Is Happening, With Jonah Hill And Channing Tatum

Jonah Hill Channing Tatum

After two movies that have grossed over $500 million on an overall budget of around $100 million, it's no surprise to report that Sony Pictures and Original Film are moving ahead with '23 Jump Street', with Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill returning as the leads. Rodney Rotham - one of the primary writers on the sequel - has been tasked with penning the third film.

It's unclear whether Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will be back to direct though Deadline confirms they are overseeing the script and will certainly be producers, at the very least. Should the duo want the directing job, it's theirs. Neal Moritz, Hill and Tatum are also on the producers list.

Sony Pictures Gives '23 Jump Street' The Green Light, Hires Writer For New Script

Jonah Hill

Earlier this summer the hilarious sequel '22 Jump Street' stormed into theatres all over the world and became an instant sensation, one of the most memorable parts about the comedy was the end credits scene which made fun of future sequels.

Well it looks like this wasn't just a joke as Sony and Original Film have started making plans for a third movie, obviously titled '23 Jump Street,' Deadline reports. The film studios have already rehired Rodney Rothman to pen the new script.

Does Anyone Still Care About Ghostbusters 3?

Bill Murray Harold Ramis Jonah Hill Ghostbusters

The Ghostbusters theme song is a ubiquitous facet of popular culture, instilled in the minds of multiple generations to whom the opening strains of Ray Parker Jr’s unmistakably 80’s smash-hit is as instantly recognisable as the theme from such definite works of mass entertainment as Top Gun or Baywatch. In fact, amongst the younger generation, the song is probably more recognisable and iconic than the films themselves as today’s youth remain largely unaware of the context surrounding Ghostbuster’s initial impact upon popular culture itself. With that in mind, is a new Ghostbuster’s film that will arrive over a quarter of a decade after its predecessor really an informed move on the part of the producers that are behind yet another re-boot of a classic Hollywood franchise?

How To Train Your Dragon 2 Review

Essential

Bigger and even richer than the terrific 2010 hit animation, this sequel is also quite possibly the best action-adventure movie of the year. Not only are its big set-pieces thrillingly rendered with first-rate special effects, but the characters are complex and involving. And the script effortlessly combines jagged wit, youthful exuberance, heart-stopping romance and even some rather bleak emotions.

Five years have passed since Hiccup (voiced by Jay Baruchel) discovered his ability to interact with dragons, specifically his inseparable pal Toothless, bringing a new era of dragon-related fun to the small Viking island of Berk. But now his father Stoick (Gerard Butler) is talking about passing on the mantel of chief to Hiccup, and he's not sure he's ready for that. He'd much rather be out zooming over the ocean exploring uncharted lands. Then on one of his trips he encounters a group of dragon hunters led by Eret (Kit Harington), who is helping the notorious villain Drago (Djimon Hounsou) build an army. But this leads Hiccup to an even more startling discovery: his mother Valka (Cate Blanchett) turns out to be alive and running a secret sanctuary for dragons. Can they team up to stop Drago?

It's a rare film that manages to work equally well in the quiet moments as in the massive spectacle, but writer-director Dean DeBlois never wobbles at all. Without ever manipulating the audience, he seamlessly shifts from tear-inducing happiness to soaringly thrilling battle action to agonising emotional pain. The coming-of-age plot may feel familiar, but it's packed with fresh touches, hilarious observations and some surprising twists and turns along the way.

Channing Tatum Brags About His Diaper Changing Skills

Channing Tatum Jonah Hill

Channing Tatum has made a pretty bold claim when it comes to his parenting skills. “I’m solid at diaper changing!” the Magic Mike actor revealed in an interview. He added: “If a guy isn’t good at changing a diaper I don’t know what he’s there for really, because for the first seven months or so, the mom is the end-all, be-all of everything.”

Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill have returned as Morton Schmidt and Greg Jenko, the undercover cops we saw cause havoc and hilarity in 21 Jump Street. Only this time they've graduated high school and are heading to college. Critics loved the first movie, a modernisation of the hit 80s show of the same name, but has 22 Jump Street managed to impress?

The Good News? '22 Jump Street' Is Very, Very Good

Jonah Hill Channing Tatum

'21 Jump Street' was an unexpected delighted in 2012 for olumbia with the seemingly mismatched team of Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill proving they had the comedy clout to not only pull off the movie adaptation of the teen series - but make it good. In the sequel - 22 Jump Street - the pair make the case for being considered one of the best new comedy duos around.

22 Jump StreetJonah Hill [L] and Channing Tatum [R] in '22 Jump Street'

After making their way through high school (twice) Schmidt and Jenko are tasked with going undercover at a local college. However, when Jenko (Tatum) meets a kindred spirit on the football team and Schmidt infiltrates the bohemian art scene, they begin to question their ability work together.

'22 Jump Street': How Hollywood Sequels Can Learn From James Bond

Channing Tatum Jonah Hill

The central joke of Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum's follow-up 22 Jump Street is that sequels are by definition bigger and more complicated, but never quite as good as the original. Indeed, at every point the filmmakers one-up 2012's 21 Jump Street, from the fact that every crashed car explodes into a ball of flame to the new glass-and-steel headquarters for the undercover squad, just across the street from the old one.

22 Jump StreetJonah Hill [L] and Channing Tatum [R] in '22 Jump Street'

Clearly this is a theory that's been adopted by Marvel for their Avengers family of movies, as the stakes keep getting higher and higher. But once you've saved Los Angeles, New York, London and the entire planet, where do you go? So now we have Thor's inter-realm shenanigans. And they're pushing it into a new level with this summer's Guardians of the Galaxy.

22 Jump Street Review

Very Good

A consistently hilarious stream of in-jokes keeps the audience in fits of laughter even if there's virtually no plot to this follow-up to the 2012 hit 21 Jump Street. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum revive their amusing double-act to poke fun at sequels and franchises amid silly set-pieces and starry cameos. And it gives filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller their second terrific comedy of the year, after The Lego Movie.

Following their successful bust of a high school drug ring, undercover officers Schmidt and Jenko (Hill and Tatum) are assigned by their grumpy captain (Ice Cube) to infiltrate a university and track down who's dealing the new drug whyphy. But both get distracted by life on campus: Schmidt begins a romance with Maya (Amber Stevens), while Jenko finds his meathead soul-mate in football teammate Zook (Wyatt Russell). With their partnership in jeopardy, Schmidt and Jenko must refocus on a spring break trip to Mexico, where they discover an old nemesis (Peter Stormare) on the loose.

Using a non-stop series of gags about how follow-up movies are more expensive and less original, the filmmakers go about proving this hypothesis with amusingly overwrought sets and a chaotic, derivative narrative that has very little momentum. Meanwhile, they pack every moment of the film with witty humour that's played expertly by Hill and Tatum, who rekindle their chemistry with a steady barrage of gay double entendre that reveals the movie's true nature as a brom-com. On the other hand, neither the actors nor the filmmakers are willing to push things too far, so they settle for silly vulgarity instead of any black comedy or edgy humour.

Jonah Hill Delivers Emotional Apology For Anti-Gay Slur On 'Tonight Show'

Jonah Hill

Jonah Hill is very sorry for the remarks he made this past weekend to a photographer.

The 30 year-old actor caused controversy when he was caught on camera delivering a homophobic slur to a member of the paparazzi, who was disrupting his day.

In a 40-second clip released by TMZ, Hill told this certain individual, "Suck my d***, you f*****!"

Jonah Hill Offers Up Numerous Apologies For Homophobic Slur

Jonah Hill Channing Tatum

Jonah Hill landed himself in a bit of trouble recently when he told a paparazzi to “suck his d*ck” and called him a “f**ggot”. Having been a staunch supporter of LGBT rights for his whole life, the scandal did seem like a surprise, and Hill has offered up numerous heartfelt apologies on both The Howard Stern Show and The Tonight Show.

22 Jump StreetJonah Hill and Channing Tatum in '22 Jump Street'

“This person had been following me around all day, had been saying hurtful things about my family, really hurtful things about me personally,” Hill explained. “And I played into exactly what he wanted and lost my cool. And in that moment, I said a disgusting word that does not at all reflect how I feel about any group of people… I’m not at all defending my choice of words, but I’m happy to be the poster boy for thinking about what you say and how those words — even if you don’t intend them — and how they’re rooted in hate and that’s bullshit and I shouldn’t have said that.”

Jonah Hill And The Art Of Apologizing Like An Alright Human Being

Jonah Hill Howard Stern

Well, at least Jonah Hill knows how to apologize like a grownup. The 22 Jump Street star had a run-in with a pap over the weekend and he lashed out, yelling at the man: “"Suck my d***, you f*****!”

Jonah Hill
It looks like Hill is aware of why and how his words were hurtful and inappropriate.

It wasn’t his highest point, to be sure, especially considering that Hill is an outspoken LGBT+ supporter and has worked with the Human Rights Campaign to spread awareness before. To his credit, however, when Hill went on Howard Stern yesterday, there were no excuses or non-apologies of the “I’m sorry you were offended” variety. Despite Stern giving him the opportunity to deny it, saying that he couldn’t really hear what the actor was saying, Hill faced his gaffe head on. His exact words (via TMZ) were: “What I said in that moment was disgusting ... I shouldn't have said that.”
