Journey frontman Neal Schon has filed suit against city officials in San Francisco, California over a fee he was charged for his 2013 wedding to former reality star Michaele Salahi.

The veteran rocker agreed to pay $58,000 (£36,250) to stage the ceremony at the Palace of Fine Arts city landmark in December, 2013, but he claims authorities hiked up the price of the permit to $240,000 (£150,000) less than a week before the nuptials when they realised the event would be filmed and broadcast on pay-per-view Tv.

He lodged legal papers for unspecified damages in a California court on Friday (06Feb15).

City officials have yet to respond to the suit.

Schon proposed to former Real Housewives of D.C. star Salahi onstage in 2012 after beginning an affair while they were both still married.

Salahi's divorce to businessman Tareq Salahi was finalised in August, 2012.
