More than 500,000 music fans have flocked to Mexico City's Palacio de Bellas Artes to pay tribute to Juan Gabriel.
The singer died after suffering a heart attack at his home in Santa Monica, California on 28 August (16), and his fans have been in mourning ever since.
Two tribute shows will take place in Mexico City on Monday (05Sep16), with the second expected to continue well into Tuesday (05Sep16).
An urn containing Gabriel's ashes will take centre stage at both events.
Pepe Aguilar, Daniela Romo, Ana Gabriel, and Fernando de la Mora are among the entertainers expected to perform.
Monday's Mexico City memorial shows follow a weekend of events staged in Ciudad Juarez, the late singer's hometown, and Guadalajara, which featured performances by Lupillo Rivera and Vicente Fernandez, Jr.
