Rapper Juicy J is facing legal action over the video for his hit song Bandz A Make Her Dance after allegedly failing to pay the producer of the promo.

Mahad Dar claims he was contacted by the hip-hop star's representatives and asked to make the 2013 video through his Creative Dream Production (Cdp) Llc company.

The firm's executives footed the cost of the production and once completed, attempted to transfer the rights for the video to Juicy J's record label bosses at Sony Music label Columbia Records, but the deal fell through.

Dar admits he did not sign a "work for hire" agreement with Juicy J's crew and worked with the understanding that he would own the copyright until it could be transferred.

However, he alleges Columbia chiefs continued to distribute the promo without having actually paid for the rights, and now he is demanding compensation.

In legal papers filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California and obtained by Law360.com, his lawyer states: "Neither Juicy J, Columbia, Sony Music nor Sony Corp. own any rights in the music video 'Bandz A Make Her Dance' and their use and widespread dissemination of the video is a flagrant violation of plaintiffs' rights."

Dar is seeking damages for the alleged copyright infringement and an injunction to halt the unlawful distribution of the video, which also features Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz and has been viewed on YouTube.com more than 34 million times.

Juicy J, real name Jordan Houston, is named as a defendant, alongside his label bosses. They have yet to respond to the suit.
