Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson is disappointed in his idol Paul Weller, after hearing the veteran rocker attack a host of other musicians.

Weller hit the headlines last week (ends03FEB06) when he declared he would "rather eat my own s**t" than perform with James Blunt and questioned why Brit Award bosses presented SIR Bob Geldof with a Lifetime Achievement Award, saying, "What did he win it for? Can't be for his music. Boomtown Rats, f**k off."

The former Jam frontman caused further controversy when he attacked late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, saying, "He said he wanted to bring ballet to the working classes. What a c**t."

Wilson says, "Paul's a bit of an old fuddy-duddy for slagging those people off. I think if you haven't got anything good to say...

"You shouldn't just slag people off just because you don't like their music, when you don't even know them or when you'll bump into them next week.

"I'd definitely be starstruck if I met Paul. His music is great."
