Monica Warhol referred to Kim as an "icon" and said that Andy would have loved her
Kanye West really loves his fiancé, Kim Kardashian, as his endless showing of pricey gifts continues to show. The latest gift for his wife-to-be was a portrait of the reality star, painted by none other than Monica Warhol, the cousin of Andy Warhol.
The pair have been going strong for some time now
West hired the Tucson, Arizona-based artist to create a painting of his baby momma, with Monica going on to commend Kim for her 'work,' calling her an "icon."
“She’s an icon. She’s famous for nothing. Andy would have loved her,” Monica told the New York Post. She continued, “Kim is beautiful. She’s so manufactured. She looks like a human Barbie.”
Although claiming to have never studied her famed relative's work, Monica makes silk-screen works using photographs to create her art, just as Andy did. Andy died when Monica was just ten, growing up in his native Pittsburgh and she went on to explain that her style of painting is not a conscious effort to copy her late relative's style, instead claiming that she was drawn to the method for its physicality.
Monica never knew her famous relative
The loved-up couple have made no secret of their feelings towards each other, as they made pretty clear in the much-parodied video for Kanye's 'Bound 2' single. Following the birth of their first child together, North West, this summer, Kanye asked Kim to marry him in an extravagant and elaborate proposal in October, the two plan on tying the knot in the summer. Recent reports have also suggested that the two may even be planning on having a second baby once the honeymoon is over.
