Kasabian (formed 1999)
Kasabian is an alternative rock band, originally from Leicester, England. The original line-up of the band consisted of Tom Meighan on vocals, Sergio Pizzorno on guitar and vocals, Chris Edwards on bass, Chris Karloff on keyboards and guitar and Ash Hannis on drums. Hannis left after the debut album was released. He was replaced by Ian Matthews. Chris Karloff was also asked to leave the band around this time. Jay Mehler was his replacement.
Kasabian: Formation & Early Years
The members of Kasabian met whilst they were attending Leysland High School and Countesthorpe Community College in Leicestershire.
The band's name comes from Linda Kasabian. She was the girl who drove the getaway car in the Charles Bronson Tate / LaBianca murders. The original name chosen for the band was Saracuse. It was with that name that the band started recording material at Leicester's Bedrock Studios.
The band's debut album was self-titled and was released in September 2004 on Arista Records. Kasabian's first two single releases, 'Processed Beats' and 'Reason is Treason' achieved moderate success. It was not until the release of 'Club Foot', though, that they achieved chart success. The track reached number 21 in the UK charts.
Following a performance on the 'Other Stage' at Glastonbury 2005, Kasabian began writing and recording their second album. Empire was released in August 2006 and by the time of its release, the band had seen two lineup changes. The title track from the album was released as the lead single and reached number nine in the UK singles charts. The next two singles were 'Shoot The Runner' and 'Me Plus One'. In October 2006, Kasabian recorded Live From Abbey Road at the infamous London studios that became famous when The Beatles recorded there.
At the 2007, NME Awards, Kasabian won the award for Best Live Act. That same year, they played the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury, as well as performing as part of the Live Earth event, at Wembley Stadium. When they played at Edinburgh's Hogmany party, Oasis' Noel Gallagher joined them on guitar for the last three songs.
For their third album, Kasabian noted that Pink Floyd and particularly Syd Barrett had influenced the sound of the recordings. It was during these recordings that Jay Mehler joined as a permanent member. The title for the album was announced as West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum. Dan the Automator, best known for his work with Gorillaz, was chosen to produce the album. The video for 'Vlad the Impaler' featured Noel Fielding of The Mighty Boosh as a vampire slayer.
Kasabian's Sergio Pizzorno thinks you can feel a songwriter's ''soul'' in a song.
The 36-year-old artist became the 'Fire' hitmaker's songwriter following the departure of former band member Christopher Karloff, and though he has hinted the creative process is difficult, he believes the lyrics to a track says a lot about the writer.
Speaking to the Metro newspaper, he said: ''It's the 'writing team' thing. I understand it, It's like American TV shows, the reason why they're so great is because 15 people in a room write it.

The O2 Forum Kentish Town is tonight's venue for the third and final London show as part of the Kasabian's intimate UK tour in preparation for the band's 6th studio album 'For Cryin Out Loud', released on April 28. Opening with the track 'Comeback Kid,' one of twelve songs featured on the highly anticipated album, marks a gentle way to start what we all know will turn out to be a raucous Thursday night gig.
Crowd pleasers 'Bumblebee', 'Underdog' and 'Eez-Eh' follow sending the sold out 2300 capacity venue into a frenzy. Frontman Tom Meighan and guitarist Sergio Pizzorno true friendship is demonstrated throughout the gig and their love for performing together is still very much evident.

Summer 2017 is shaping up to be good one for music!
As March progressed and the sun began to come out a little bit, it was hard not to get the feeling that 2017 had finally begun to actually happen after the cold winter months. So it was for music fans, who were treated to a lot of great news about new music from some of the biggest bands in the industry, both in Britain and internationally.
We’ve detailed six of the biggest – and, hopefully, best – new albums to look out for in the coming few months!

Endangered birds and local opposition had threatened to derail the move to the new site at Strathallan Castle, but the local council gave the organisers the nod on Tuesday.
Following an uncertain few weeks, T In The Park has been given the go-ahead for its new site at Strathallan Castle.
The BBC reported that a 90 minute meeting of the Perth and Kinross Council on Tuesday resulted in unanimous support for the application submitted by DF Concerts, which lasts for three years and is subject to a handful of conditions.

Ospreys are reported to have built a nest within the noise disturbance 'buffer zone' that the law is required to enforce, leaving T In The Park hanging in the balance.
The annual T In The Park festival in Scotland is under threat of cancellation if the local council for its proposed new site at Strathallan Castle in Perthshire fails to approve its application.
Opposition to the move from environmental protestors has been gathering momentum following a recent report that nesting ospreys had arrived within a proposed 2,500 feet ‘buffer zone’ designed by law to protect such species.
Kasabian are set to headline T In The Park - but will it even go ahead?

The 'Rather Be' stars were recently called out by Kasabian's Serge Pizzorno as part of a reaction to their BRIT Awards snub.
Serge Pizzorno, guitarist and chief songwriter of the Leicester quartet, told The Independent last week that he was displeased at the group’s total lack of recognition at the upcoming Brit Awards. Despite scoring a fourth UK Number 1 album last year with 48:13, Kasabian received no nominations at all, which Pizzorno described as a “conspiracy” to “shut rock ‘n’ roll out.”
