Kasabian Serge Pizzorno

Kasabian's Serge Pizzorno says playing Reading Festival was ''one of the best days ever''.

The 36-year-old guitarist and his band mates - Tom Meighan, Chris Edwards and Ian Matthews - will be headlining the festival at Richmond Park on August 25.

Speaking on Absolute Radio, he said: ''We went to Reading as kids, that yellow poster I got and framed it because it meant so much. It's a big old gig and we attacked it and it was amazing, weren't it? It was one of the best days ever.''

Kasabian's Album For Cying Out Loud Inspired By Motown

Kasabian's new album was inspired by Motown.

The English rock band, which is comprised of Tom Meighan, Serge Pizzorno, Chris Edwards, and Ian Matthews have admitted their new LP titled 'For Crying Out Loud', which is set to be released next month, was influenced by the iconic seventies era when guitarists had ''strong melodies and great riffs''.

The bands 36-year-old guitarist told the Evening Standard Online: ''On a grand scale we want to save guitar music from hell and be the saviours of rock and roll. In reality, I wanted to try and make an album full of really good, well-crafted songs.

Kasabian Announce Plans For Huge Celebration Gig At Leicester City's Stadium

Kasabian Tom Meighan Serge Pizzorno

Leicester City fans Kasabian have announced plans for a huge, one-off gig at the club’s stadium next month, in celebration of the team’s extraordinary season.

The Midlands football club, known as the Foxes, stand on the brink of one of the most astonishing and unlikely achievements in sporting history, as the 5,000-1 rank outsiders are just one victory away from winning the English Premier League.

However, win or lose – and it seems increasingly likely that it will be a win – the indie rock group, who hail from the city, will perform in front of 30,000 fans at the club’s King Power Stadium on May 28th. Tickets go on sale this Saturday (April 30th).

Archaeological Discovery Will Not Prevent 'T In The Park' Go-Ahead

T In The Park Kasabian The Libertines Noel Gallagher

The recent archaeological discovery at the new site of the T In The Park festival will not prevent the weekend-long event from going ahead, experts have confirmed.

Contractors preparing the site near Strathallan Castle came across what archaeological experts believe to be a 3,000 year old roundhouse, and works were immediately put on hold while the structure was examined.

The festival’s organisers, DF Concerts, had feared that the discovery would force them to delay or perhaps cancel this year’s festival, due to be held in July. Archaeological discoveries frequently hold back construction projects all over the world.

Is Kasabian's BRIT Snub Really A "Conspiracy" Against Rock?

Kasabian Brit Awards

Kasabian will play at this year's BAFTA's ceremony in London after being snubbed by the music industry's annual showcase, the Brit Awards. The Leicester rockers failed to receive a nomination for next month's awards ceremony, much to the bemusement of their diehard following.

KasabianSerge Pizzorno says Kasabian's BRITs snubbing is a conspiracy against rock

Sharp-eyed BAFTA producers were quickly on the case and invited Kasabian to open the show for their black-tie movie fest.

So About That Kasabian 'All Londoners Are...' Backdrop...

Kasabian Serge Pizzorno

London based fans of Kasabian might have been left a little shocked (and offended) after a profane backdrop exclaiming “London is full of c**ts”, was projected on-stage during a recent gig in Glasgow. But rather than being an expression of the group's true feeling, Kasabian have now claimed the backdrop was simply a ‘production error’ and not anything to do with the band themselves.

Kasabian Kasabian’s Serge Pizzorno and Tom Meighan

Speaking to the NME, guitarist Serge Pizzorno said, “We were all shocked and certainly didn’t mean to offend anyone.” “The production team fucked up.” he continued. “There were supposed to be photos of mundane objects in that section but instead I turned around in the middle of [the song] 'Clouds' and couldn’t believe my eyes.”

Apple’s iTunes Festival 2014 isn’t until September, but there are already some awesome performers lined up. Pharrell Williams, Kylie Minogue and Maroon 5 are all a part of  this year’s lineup, which was announced Monday, July 21.

Pharrell Williams
Pharrell will cap off a successful year with a headlining gig at iTunes Festival.

Other big names to grace the Roundhouse stage in Camden include old-school favorites, as well as a bunch of newcomers - David Guetta, Sam Smith, Blondie, Beck and Kasabian are all on the list of performers. The full lineup this year includes over 60 acts, set to perform at Roundhouse over a full month. As usual, the tech-centric event will be filmed and streamed live by Apple, with fans able to watch on their computers, iPhones, iPads and iPod touch devices, or on their televisions via the company's Apple TV set-top box. Looking after its international customers, the company has promised to make the livestream available in over 100 countries. This year, the festivities will be broadcast through the iTunes store on iOS devices, rather than through a dedicated app.

Kasabian - Leicester July 2014 Live Review

Never backward in proclaiming their own worth, it's safe to say that Kasabian have always had an aura about them. From their early days as vaguely trip-hop based act Saracuse, they always envisioned that one day they would bring the world to their hometown and on Saturday 21st June 2014, they did. A decade on from the release of their eponymous debut album and on the back of their fourth UK number one album ('48:13'), the Leicester-based quartet have achieved most of their musical ambitions but that day was one they will never forget.

Kasabian - Live Review

In interviews before the show, Sergio Pizzorno had eluded to the fact that the day could've been their "Spike Island" or "Knebworth". Yes, not on the same scale, but nevertheless that's how it felt. The scene was set early as the queues started forming around Victoria Park from late morning. The feeling in the air was so palpable, you could cut the excitement with a knife. As a site, Victoria Park has not hosted many events, the last one on this scale being Radio 1's "One Big Weekend", but it's well designed and surprisingly easy to navigate.

The warm up acts were not what you would expect from a self-picked Kasabian show. The three youthful looking members of Aussie based indie-dance upstarts Jagwar Ma strode out on stage like they belonged, all donning "Bucket Hats" and baggy clothing reminiscent of early Roses (Stone) fans, and preceded into a set of tunes that got the crowd limbered up, without anyone over exerting themselves. Next up was Rudimental, who would not have been the fans' choice to support that is for sure. But, as the duo jumped from hit to hit, it was clear to see why they were there. The entire crowd, (of those under 30), were bouncing along knowing every word and, all in all, they got the place pumped.

Glastonbury Festival Goers Told To "Prepare For Rape" By BBC

And it looks like this year might be a wet one. Forecasters are predicting sunshine up until the gates open, then a deluge of rainfall is set to cascade over Worthy Farm as Arcade Fire, Kasabian and Metallica headline the Pyramid Stage. The Met Office are predicting heavy rain showers between 10am and 9pm on Friday - the first full day of music at the festival.

Billy Bragg Likens Kasabian's Swagger To Spinal Tap's Satire

Billy Bragg Kasabian Glastonbury Festival

Kasabian were the subject of derision when they chose to divulge the lyrics, "Horsemeat in the burgers, people commit murders, everyone’s on bugle, we’re being watched by Google" early. They eventually revised those lyrics for their current single, ‘Eez-eh’, but Billy Brag still thinks they’re the Spinal Tap of modern music.

"They have an important role to play: they are there to remind us how true Spinal Tap was. I'm not a fan, but if you read their interviews as if it was dialogue from Spinal Tap, it's very entertaining," says Bragg. Only trouble is, high-maintenance lead-singer Serge isn’t really going for satire; he’s genuinely making what he believes to be a comment on the socio-political state of the United Kingdom.

Could This Be The Lineup For Glastonbury Festival 2014?

Glastonbury Festival Prince Kasabian Arcade Fire Adele

Some acts may still be rumours and others are yet to be confirmed, but we have a strong suspicion that this is what the Glastonbury Festival Lineup for 2014 will end up looking like! Eek, we can't wait! The three day music festival is the hottest (and most quickly sold out) ticket of the year, and with a (rumoured) lineup like this, who’s surprised?

prince glastonbury Prince is rumoured to be performing at Glastonbury Festival 2014

Indie rock band Arcade Fire have already confirmed their Friday night slot on the Pyramid Stage at the festival. The Canadian band are fortunate to be playing on the Friday night before everybody has had a sleepless few days and energy starts to die down!  Actually, on second thought, Glastonbury Festival goers never really lose any energy.  There must be something in the air which keeps them all going.

Bruce Serenades His Mother At Hard Rock Calling Festival: What A Mummy's Boy!

Bruce Springsteen Kasabian Hard Rock Calling

In a Streisand-style family affair, US rocker Bruce Springsteen has introduced crowds of fans to family members whilst on stage. During his Sunday headline slot at last weekend's Hard Rock Calling festival, Springsteen invited his mother Adele, 87, on to the stage for a performance of 'Dancing in the Dark.' The pair slow-waltzed together before his younger sister Pam also joined them on stage with a guitar ready to strum out the song's crescendo.

The Hard Rock Calling crowds, who had already rocked out to shows from The Jam, Kasabian, The Black Crowes and Alabama Shakes, were treated by the rock icon to 1984's Born In The USA played in its entirety. According to Digital Spy, 63 year-old Springsteen incorporated request banners from the crowd into his setlist, adding in 'Johnny 99' and 'Jungleland' to the 3 hour set that was received rapturously in a performance described as "joyful," "celebratory," "funky" and a "stunning filibuster of a show" by The Telegraph.

Hard Rock Calling: Fans Answer In Their Thousands To See Springsteen & Kasabian

In Somerset, Glastonbury was in full swing but further East a different festival drew its own thousands. Rock fans flocked to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in East London's Stratford to attend Hard Rock Calling: a two day festival hosting massive names in rock 'n' roll. Held in a pop-up venue at the site of the London 2012 Olympic Games Basketball venue, the festival welcomed Leicester's Kasabian, USA performer Bruce Springsteen and special guests; mod rock band, The Jam.

Kasabian enjoyed a successful Saturday night headlining slot, helping to christen the venue for a festival that began in 2006, with trumpet and violin-playing women and a cover of The Beatles' 'She Loves You' performed by lead singer Tom Meighan without any instrumental accompaniment. Busy bees Alabama Shakes managed to fit both festivals into the same weekend, playing Glasto on Friday then Hard Rock Calling on Sunday. Springsteen AKA The Boss certainly didn't let anyone down, according to the East London Advertiser, with the 65 year-old playing his 80s album Born In The USA in its entirety, accompanied by his E Street Band and even serenading his mother with 'Dancing in the Dark' onstage in front of 40,000 fans.

Kasabian - Royal Albert Hall 22nd March 2013 Live Review 2013

Each year the Teenage Cancer Trust puts on a series of gigs, and each year the line-up is equally impressive. Needless to say, with Noel Gallagher, Damon Albarn, Primal Scream, Russell Brand and Kasabian on the bill, this year was no exception. I was there to see the mighty Kasabian take to the stage for the Friday night slot to raise money and the roof off the Albert Hall.

Kasabian - Royal Albert Hall 22nd March 2013 Live Review

The band certainly know how to kick off a show with uninhibited panache; recent track Days Are Forgotten lead them in with ease, swiftly followed by fan-favourites Shoot the Runner and Velociraptor which had the eager crowd dancing and singing along to their deliciously poppy choruses. There are few singers who own the stage with such a nonchalant self-assured swagger as this Leicester quartet's Tom Meighan does and he lead the way accordingly as anarchic Reason Is Treason and the grinding electronic opening bars to I.D. reverberated through the historic venue. Last Night of the Proms this was not but there was certainly no-one complaining.

The string accompaniment and a switch to guitarist Serge Pizzorno on vocal duties for Take Aim introduced a slightly slower pace in proceedings and this followed on in the nostalgic reminiscence of British Legion. However, the band's usual fervour was never far away and they soon launched into the crowd-pleasing Empire, which had an enraptured crowd back in chanting-along mode. A rather brilliant cover of Fatboy Slim's Praise You acted as the introduction to iconic track L.S.F. whilst a rousing and impassioned performance of Fire ended the night, causing delighted gig-goers to jump up and down as one in the balconies.
