Kate Mara's father hates her hair.

The 'Fantastic Four' actress recently cut her long bob into a stylish pixie crop and while she is thrilled with the low maintenance look, her father is unimpressed.

Speaking on 'Live with Kelly and Michael', she said: ''I text messaged my dad the other day saying 'I miss you' and his response was 'I miss your hair'. So thanks dad!''

However, Kate loves her new hair and said: 'I don't have to wash it now. I don't have to brush it. I love it.'

32-year-old Kate's father is New York Giants executive Timothy Christopher Mara.

The actress dyed her hair for a role, which she explained during an awkward interview in with Atlanta's Rock 100.5 in which host Steven J. Rickman complained he preferred it before.

She said: ''They asked me to. I'm an actress. I have to be a chameleon.'

Kate's sister is 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' star Rooney Mara, 30, and there is no rivalry between them.

Kate explained: '' People always want to know: 'Is there competition between you and your sister?' Luckily there isn't. but rivalry is an industrywide obsession - and it's toxic. I have to remind myself that just because a person got a job I wanted, it doesn't make me any 'less than.' When I'm at my strongest mentally, I don't ever compare myself to others.''
