Prince Harry's Royal Baby Response: "I'll Make Sure He Has Fun"

Kate Middleton Prince Harry Prince William Prince Charles

Now new parents William and Kate have had a few famous names welcoming their royal baby, George Alexander Louis - Prince George of Cambridge, into their family. Will's brother, Prince Harry has had a few words to say in reaction to the birth of his nephew. Speaking to the BBC at a photographic exhibition in London documenting the work of his Lesotho charity Sentebale, Prince Harry said it was "fantastic to have another addition to the family", and that the newborn "was crying his eyes out" when he met him.

Prince George is third in line to the throne, taking the place of Harry who is now fourth in line. The mischievous prince - who has previously faced criticism for wearing a Nazi uniform to a party, and dancing naked in Las Vegas - when asked what his mission as an uncle was, "To make sure [George] has a good upbringing, and keep him out of harm's way and to make sure he has fun. The rest I'll leave to the parents."

Odds Of Royal Baby Are 1:1, Everything Else Is Up For Grabs

Prince William Kate Middleton Queen Elizabeth II

While the world (or parts of it, anyway) awaits the birth of the royal baby with baited breath, bookies are making some serious dough every day that the infant bides its time. There are bets on every possible variable in the birth of William and Kate’s offspring – from the date, to the gender and name. If you search heard enough, you’d probably find someone to take your wager on whether the little one will be born with hair or not. Although we’re not entirely sure how that would be verified.

Odds are, Becks will face a disappointment.

Bookies say bets on the name, sex and date of the first child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are drawing a record number of wagers for a non-sports market, worth over £1 million (1.1 million euros) so far. Gary Burton, from the Coral betting company, explained for AFP that the event as created the biggest novelty market ever. In case you’re wondering, Alexandra and James are the leading predictions for the little one’s name. David, despite David Beckham’s hopes, isn’t really a contender.

Safety First - Kate Middleton Baby To Be Born Naturally

Kate Middleton Prince William

Caesarean sections are all the rage with celebs; we won’t go into why, but they just are. But for Kate Middleton – who is set to give birth to a royal sprog in the next few weeks – has elected to go for a natural birth, for safety reasons.

The birth will take place in the private Lindo wing of St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, of course. It’s the same hospital that Prince William was born at, 31 years ago, and by electing to give life the old fashioned way, she follows in the footsteps of Princess Diana. Mervi Jokinen of the Royal College of Midwives and president of the European Midwives Association explains how women in the U.K are encouraged to formulate a birthing plan early on. “These consist of several things, they sometimes state the woman's wishes about pain relief in labour, positions they might want to take, who they bring with them, if they want any kind of drugs or if they are against epidurals," she said. "Basically it is a discussion before your birth about what you would like your labour to be."

Discussion: had. Decision: natural. And in keeping with their traditional tropes, Prince William and Kate “do not know and do not plan to find out the gender of the baby in advance,” killing off rumours that they’ve told friends and family the gender of their incoming little one.

Kate Middleton Christens The 'Royal Princess' As Birth Approaches

Kate Middleton Prince William Jessica Alba

Kate Middleton has made her last appearance performing Royal Duties before the birth of her child, due next month.

The wife of Prince William visited Southampton yesterday (13 June 2013) in order to christen the cruise ship, the 'Royal Princess', named for the soon-to-be mother. She is the ship's godmother, a tradition dating from the 18th century, this is an honorary role reserved for important and deserving women.

Middleton was honoured by Alan Buckelew, President and Chief Executive Officer of the cruise company, describing her as 'an inspiring ambassador for Britain' who 'is admired around the world for her style and grace, and for her compassion for others', in a speech reported by The Huffington Post.

What Is A Hypnobirth And Why Is Kate Middleton Considering It?

Kate Middleton Prince William

After making her final solo public appearance before her due date, Kate Middleton is already immersed in plans for the baby’s arrival and apparently she is considering a hypnobirth. According to the proponents of the alternative method, most of the pain during labor stems from the fear and anxiety of the mother, so a hypnobirth could make the entire event much shorter and less painful for the Duchess of Cambridge – or at keast that’s how the theory goes.

The mother-to-be has reportedly been considering the option for a while. Last month, a source close to the royals said for Now Magazine: 'Kate's very excited about the idea of
hypnobirth. She's exploring lots of options
but thinks
it sounds very interesting.

'The principle behind this latest celebrity fad sounds simple enough. Different visualization techniques and breathing exercises are used at various stages of the birth to relax the mind. This reportedly helps lessen the pain without the need for an epidural. According to specialists on the technique, at its core is the idea of changing the way the mind and body perceive the birth.

Final Pre-Baby Engagement Sees Duchess Of Cambridge Naming A Ship On The South Coast

Kate Middleton

The Duchess of Cambridge is scheduled to make what will likely be her last solo public appearance before her due date, at the naming of a cruise ship on the south coast today. The now heavily pregnant Catherine will be part of a very traditional naming ceremony in Southampton, including smashing a bottle into the ship’s hull, a blessing and music by military bands, according to a report by CNN. The cruise ship carries the rather appropriate name “Royal Princess.” As its godmother, Catherine was given a tour of the ocean liner.

The vessel is owned by Princess Cruises and, after the ceremony, it will sail off on its maiden voyage this Sunday. The ship has a capacity of 3600 The Royal Princess will then sail Mediterranean cruises through the summer and Eastern Caribbean cruises in the fall. Princess Cruises' president and chief executive Alan Buckelew said, via the Mirror: "We are delighted that the Duchess will launch our new ship and can think of no better way to celebrate our company's British heritage and our commitment to the country."

After some minor problems initially, Catherine is now going through a smooth pregnancy. She is expected to give birth sometime in mid-July. The baby’s sex is still unannounced, but due to a change in succession laws, it will become the heir to the throne regardless.

Kate Middleton Attends The Scout Awards

Kate Middleton

Kate Middleton, The Duchess Of Cambridge, was on hand to honour Scouts at Windsor Castle over the weekend, with the royal being called a “role model” for the youngsters who were there to receive recognition for feats of bravery and gallantry.

According to Sky News, 2,800 new adult volunteers have signed up to the Scouts since Middleton herself joined. The Duchess is of course heavily pregnant at the moment but has been undertaking a huge amount of charity and ambassadorial work regardless. Chief Scout, adventurer and TV star Bear Grylls said to Sky News: "The Duchess is an incredible role model and she helps us show that Scouting's not just for boys. She's also such a generous volunteer and everyone is so excited to have her in the Scouting family. Many people have followed her lead and are getting involved and enjoying the adventure."

Notable honourees included 17-year-old Lee Craven, who apparently helped drag a friend from an icy canal on one of the coldest days of the year. Explaining the situation, Craven commented "I hooked my feet under a tree stump and tried to reach for his hand. It was pitch black but I managed to pull him to the side to safety. It was quite easy because of the adrenalin." Daniel Bean, 16, from the Isle of Wight, was given an award for going to the aid of a suicidal woman who had slit her wrist meanwhile. He was walking along a cliff top when he spotted the woman and commented “I had my phone on me and luckily I had a signal, so I called an ambulance and they and the police came down."

Bear Grylls Says Kate Middleton Is An “Incredible Role Model” For The Scouts

Kate Middleton Bear Grylls

It’s not only kids that can don the scout uniform and start collecting those elusive badges, you know; adults can too! Since Kate Middleton, 31, joined the Scouts last year, more than 2,800 new adult volunteers have joined up, representing the second biggest rise since 1986.

Chief Scout, TV star Bear Grylls, who was present as the pregnant Middleton honoured the achievements of hundreds of Scouts at Windsor Castle, said: "The Duchess is an incredible role model and she helps us show that Scouting's not just for boys. She's also such a generous volunteer and everyone is so excited to have her in the Scouting family. Many people have followed her lead and are getting involved and enjoying the adventure." 17-year-old Lee Craven, from Hook, Hampshire was one of the more adventurous scouts honoured at the event. He helped drag a friend from an icy canal after he fell in in the dark. Lee said: "I hooked my feet under a tree stump and tried to reach for his hand. It was pitch black but I managed to pull him to the side to safety. It was quite easy because of the adrenalin."

Kate Middleton Due Date Announced During Royal Trip To Scotland

Kate Middleton Prince William

Kate Middleton Due Date. Kate Middleton has rested our collective worries by at last announcing the due date of the future King or Queen of England during a Royal trip to Scotland with husband Prince William. Early on yesterday (April 4), Kate was answering questions in Glasgow when she was asked when the due date was, to which she cheekily replied, "It's around mid-July but apparently babies have their own agenda."

During their two day visit, the future King and Queen of the United Kingdom took in the sights of Scotland's second city, including the Emirates Arena and the recently opened Chris Hoy Velodrome, as they inspected the city's preparations for next years Commonwealth Games. The sporty pair tried their hand at a number of activities, but given Kate's current state she was naturally unable to participate in a number of sports. After visiting the Donald Dewar Leisure Centre, Prince William delivered a speech outside the sporting venue after taking part in a game of field hockey. During the speech he thanked the workers at sport complex for their hospitality and even hinted at a touch of competitiveness between himself and his wife. "Catherine, who, you may have noticed, is limited a little in the sports she can play right now, has had to hold herself back from grabbing a tennis racquet and challenging me to a full game," he said, before gallantly quipping, "I am far too much of a gentleman to say who would win."

The Royal couple's two day tour of Scotland came to an end today (April 5) and saw the pair inspect the venues that are being used for the 2014 Commonwealth Games as well as meeting meet some of the athletes due to take part in the upcoming event.

U.S. Women Decide Kate Middleton Nose Best

Kate Middleton

Kate Middleton's nose has become somewhat of a desired feature over in America, as women try and replicate the regal conk currently owned by the Duchess of Cambridge.

A few months ago, Manhattan's Dr Stephen Greenberg started getting requests for the surgery, and they've been relentless ever since. "It has become so popular that we have made a file of a dozen Kate Middleton pictures to show patients when they come in for their consultation," Dr Greenberg said to Sky News. "Women, especially over the age of 28, want the nose of a woman who is regal, refined and strong," he says. "They certainly don't want the scooped out, over-affected, upturned, pinched nose of a pop star." The last sniffer to get this much attention was Jennifer Anniston's, whose turn as Rachel - especially in the first six seasons of Friends - inspired people to change their appearance. Her hair was also highly desired, and started a wave of Rachels walking around the Western World. It's pretty weird, really.

Jessica Blaier - a New York University pre-medical student - has had the Kate nose 'installed' onto her face, snd seems to be delighted with it. "The goal was to have my new nose look natural," she says. "So when people don't notice it, that's a good thing. But I know that my nose was modelled by Kate Middleton, and that's what is most important." Dr Greenberg has twenty more women scheduled in for the nose-job next month, at $7,000. That's $140k in one month, looks like this doctor owes a certain pregnant royal a drink.

Diana? Elizabeth? Kate Middleton (Sort Of) Reveals She's Expecting A Daughter

Kate Middleton Prince William

Will Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, and husband Prince William name their daughter after the Duke's late mother, Princess Diana of Wales? It became much more of a possibility on Tuesday (March 5, 2013) when Kate inadvertently dropped a hint about the gender of her baby during a public appearance in the North of England.

When a well-wisher gave Middleton a teddy bear, she responded, "Thank you, I will take that for my d..." before cutting the sentence short. It was enough to send Britain's tabloids into frenzy, with most of Wednesday's editions carrying the headline 'It's a girl!' or something similar.

Sandra Cook, a well-wisher standing near the Duchess, told reporters that she asked Kate whether she had been about to say 'daughter,' though was told the royal couple did not know the child's gender and would not reveal it, even if they did.

Why Has Kate Middleton Not Responded To Hilary Mantel 'Attack'?

Kate Middleton Hilary Mantel

Kate Middleton has not responded to the comments that Hilary Mantel made about her in a lecture, but the rest of the world has. Why has she remained silent?

Many have expressed their opinions regarding Hilary Mantel's comments about Kate Middleton during a lecture she gave last month, in which she described the Duchess as 'plastic' and 'machine made". Avid royalists defended Middleton to the hilt, David Cameron even said his bit. Many others who view Kate as a woman, not just a member of the royal family, defended Mantel, arguing that her words were an attack on the press rather than the woman herself. The one opinion we all want to hear though, is Kate's, and she has remained completely silent on the matter.

Her muteness, like Mantel's verbosity, can be construed in two ways. Firstly, her apparent refusal to comment could affirm Mantel's apparent judgements. Machines are still and silent until their owners allow them to move and make sound. On the other hand, however, Kate could of course be employing those distinctly human traits, historically considered to be endowed to us by God, of choice and free will.

Kate Middleton A Victim Of Mantel Abuse! Called A "Mannequin" By Booker Prize-Winning Writer

Kate Middleton Hilary Mantel

Kate Middleton has come in for the leatheriest of shoe pie servings from double Booker Prize-winning writer Hilary Mantel, who claimed that the Duchess of Cambridge and current cultivator of the next royal baby was a “shop window mannequin”. Harsh words.

Mantel was delivering a London Review of Books lecture on Royal Bodies at the British Museum, according to The Independent. She said that on first impressions , Middleton was “a jointed doll on which certain rags are hung. In those days she was a shop-window mannequin, with no personality of her own, entirely defined by what she wore.” Carrying on her remorseless verbal assault, Mantel commented “She appears precision-made, machine-made, so different from Diana whose human awkwardness and emotional incontinence showed in her every gesture.” We presume that at this point, a (definitely not) watching-on Morrissey stood to his feet and started whooping and hollering in agreement before sauntering out the room with a bunch of daffodils in his hand.

Mantel wasn’t done there though: “Presumably Kate was designed to breed in some manners. She looks like a nicely brought up young lady, with ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ part of her vocabulary” she said, before turning her ire on Kate’s first official royal portrait and commenting of the Paul Emsley-painted creation “her eyes are dead.” Middleton basically was a poor third place to Anne Boleyn and Princess Diana, judging by the rest of the speech, which was about as withering as they come.

Chi Magazine Editor Defends Publishing Pregnant Kate Middleton Photos

Kate Middleton

The British Royal family, to some extent, enjoy a portion more privacy than many other celebrities due to their elevated status. However, while many celebrities are snapped constantly in states of disarray and bikini clad on beaches that they thought were private, when that happens to Kate Middleton and Prince William - especially when Kate's pregnant - that kind of exposure of the family is called right into question. So much so that one of the magazines who opted to publish the photos of Kate on holiday has been forced to defend his decision.

"The article features photos of a young couple in love as they happily walk along the shore," Chi magazine's Alfonso Signorini told Hollywood Life. "They are images of such unexceptional normality that there is only limited mention of them on the cover of the magazine. Moreover," he continued, "the photographs can hardly be considered an invasion of privacy when the subjects are public figures in a public place, in the open air; specifically on a beach surrounded by other bathers."

A Palace spokesperson made a statement: "We are disappointed that photographs of the Duke and Duchess on a private holiday look likely to be published overseas. This is a clear breach of the couple's right to privacy."

Breach Of Privacy? Kate Middleton Pregnant Bikini Photos Condemned By St James Palace

Kate Middleton Prince William

Once again, paparazzi photographs of Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, have been published in a gossip magazine, in a move condemned by St. James’ Palace as a breach of Kate and Prince William’s right to privacy. The photographs were taken whilst the Duchess of Cambridge and her husband were holidaying on the island of Mustique, the BBC reports.

The images reportedly show a pregnant Kate, in a bikini, underneath the headline “the belly grows.” It appears that the couple were unaware that the photographs were being taken and nor did they give their consent to them being taken, or published. The snaps have been published in the Italian magazine Chi. Its publishers, Mondadori have confirmed that the magazine went on sale in Italy today (February 13, 2013). Due to snow-related distribution problems, however, the magazine is not yet on sale in Rome.

A spokesman for St. James’ Palace said last night “We are disappointed that photographs of the Duke and Duchess on a private holiday look likely to be published overseas. This is a clear breach of the couple's right to privacy.” Last year, another publication owned by Silvio Berlusconi’s Mondodoni media group – the French magazine Closer – published photographs of the Duchess sunbathing topless whilst she was on a private holiday in France. The publishers were ordered by a Paris court to hand over the original photographs within 24 hours, or face daily fines of $10,000.

Kate Middleton And Will's Pre Baby Vacation Raided By Paparazzi - Again!

Kate Middleton Prince William

Kate Middleton is on the receiving end of another breach of privacy at the hands of the foreign media as she is snapped showing off her baby bump in a bikini on a private holiday with hubby Prince William.

The Duchess of Cambridge is doing well to maintain calm and dignified in her new life as the future queen despite the constant media attention and invasion of privacy she is suffering as a result. In a rather unsurprising turn of events, the pregnant Duchess was snapped in her beachwear with the Duke on holiday on the beautiful Caribbean island of Mustique. The pictures were then published by Italian magazine Chi with the headlines 'the belly grows' and 'Kate and William honeymoon in three'. It's not clear if the snaps were obtained with the photographer on the island or on a boat using a long lens.

This isn't the first time the Duchess has been spotted relaxing on a private vacation. Last year (2012) there was outrage when the French Closer mag published pictures of her topless after she'd removed her bikini top while at Chateau d'Autet near Aix-en-Provence. These new pictures have been blasted by the palace, with a spokesperson telling The Mirror: 'We are disappointed that photographs of the Duke and Duchess on a private holiday look likely to be published overseas. This is a clear breach of the couple's right to privacy.'

Kate Middleton's Baby Bump Spotted On Mustique Holiday

Kate Middleton Prince William

The time is fast approaching, the time when the future King or Queen of the United Kingdom is born, with Kate Middleton being spotted stepping off the plane as she arrived in Mustique for a quick holiday with Prince William, taking her ever-growing baby bump with her.

The Duchess of Cambridge, believed to be around 19 or 20 weeks along, has headed off to the Caribbean island with her husband and the rest of the Middleton clan to escape the torrid British winter for a few weeks. According to the Sun, she and her family will be lapping up the sun at a £15,000 villa for a few days, before flying home to make her first public appearances since December. A source close to the royal pair told the paper: "The Duke and Duchess have joined the Middletons for a winter break. Both William and Kate were hoping her condition would not stop her from making the eight-hour flight to Barbados and the connection to Mustique."

In December, the notion of Kate flying across the Atlantic for a getaway would have seemed absurd given her serious bout with morning sickness, but fortunately it looks as though the Duchess is fit and health once again as she can now enjoy her sixth holiday on the Caribbean island with her husband.

Kate's Baby Bump Makes First Outing In London - Kate Middleton Baby Due In July

Kate Middleton Prince William Kim Kardashian

Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge has been spotted out sporting just a hint of a baby bump; her baby is due in July. Kate was spotting a tartan print cape whilst out shopping and even though she’d opted for a garment that would cover up a bump, rather than accentuate it, you could still catch a glimpse of the silhouette of her baby bump. Kate was spotted out in West London, just days after she was seen in the capital’s posh district of Chelsea.

Kate was wearing black leggings and riding boots with her sophisticated tartan cape, topped off with black riding boots. With her tied back in a ponytail, the 30 year-old wife of Prince William was looking fit and healthy, after a worrying start to her pregnancy which saw her hospitalised with severe pregnancy-related sickness. She’d recently been seen buying jeggings from The Gap, obviously seeking out comfy garments to boost her maternity wardrobe.

The arrival of Kate and William’s baby is big news in the world of celebrity gossip and the paparazzi will be keen to get a better shot of Kate’s baby bump as her pregnancy progresses. They’ll be hoping that she stops hiding under a cape, of course but they’ll have no such problems with Kim Kardashian, the other major celebrity mum of the year. Kim’s due to give birth in the same month as Kate but hasn’t been so shy about showing off her figure, thus far.

First Glimpses Of Kate Middleton's Baby Bump Surface

Kate Middleton

Kate Middleton is having a baby! You probably already knew that, but as time goes by, that fabled date draws all the more closer and with the emergence of some new photos of the Duchess that time looks to be drawing all the more nearer.

Kate hasn't done a Demi Moore-esque photo shoot or anything (we can only dream) and stripped off so the world can see her bump in the flesh, but instead she was snapped wrapped up warm in a chic gray tartan Zara cape whilst en route to a London footwear boutique, with the photos showing up on E! News last night (Feb 2). The sideways shot clearly shows the beginnings of a fully-fledged baby bump on it's way, as Kate went on to fulfil one of her major duties of late: shopping.

Last week, the Duchess of Cambridge was spotted eyeing up maternity wear on London's King's Road and shortly after was seen in Selfridges buying a new work-out wardrobe. Clearly Kate is back to her fit old self after her morning sickness scare, and if she's eyeing up exercise wear then she must not be feeling too run down.

Australian Hoax DJs Will Not Face Charges Over Nurse's Suicide

Kate Middleton

The two Australian DJs who made a prank phone call to the hospital that was treating Kate Middleton's morning sickness, after which the nurse who took the call committed suicide, have escaped any charges following a court decision on Friday (Feb 1).

Mel Greig and Michael Christian rang the King Edward VII Hospital in London on December3 last year posing as Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles so they could potentially get the chance to speak to Kate Middleton. Jacintha Saldanha answered the call and unknowingly put the two through to one of her superiors believing the rouse to be real. She was found dead near the hospital a few days later after a suspected suicide.

Since the incident the two DJs have been inundated with threats and have subsequently been fired from their posts on 2Day FM, they have also issued an official, tearful apology and shown remorse for inadvertently causing the mother of two's death and are even said to have sought counselling to cope with the traumatic experience. Their worries were eased slightly when the Crown Prosecution Service ruled in favour of the two, noting that they had only intended it as a harmless prank and were not solely to blame for the aftermath.

Woman Pays $12k For Kate Middleton's Nose

Kate Middleton

Alright, she didn't pay $12k for Kate Middleton's nose, rather she coughed up the dosh to make her nose look like The Duchess of Cambridge's royal schnoz, ABC reports.

"Every time she smiled I was like 'Wow! I want my nose to be like that,'" the 21-year-old Jessica Blaier told "Good Morning America" in an interview that aired on the show today.  She paid the plastic surgeon $12,000 to have a plastic surgeon change her nose to look like Middleton's. "I try to get in every picture I can," she said. "Her nose is what I modeled with and that's what I got. It was definitely a process, but it was so worth it." And if you're thinking she's weird, well, she is. But she's not quite as weird as you think, as, according to One British cosmetic surgery company, Kate's is the most requested nose in the business.

Dr. Thomas Romo III, director of facial plastic surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan and the man who performed the surgery on young Miss Blaier, speaks highly of Kate's nose, saying "It's strong. It's a woman's nose. It's not infantile. It's not overdone," and adding, "I don't think Kate has a nose job. I think she was just blessed with good genes."

All In The Family: Kate Middleton Wants Her Mother To Become Royal Nanny

Kate Middleton Prince William Queen Elizabeth II

With the big day fast approaching, its time for Kate Middleton and Prince William to start planning for life with a little one in the mix and the first order of business is appointing a royal nanny. Luckily for the Duke and Duchess their needs may be met closer to home than they'd have thought.

Kate is believed to want to break from tradition and rather than hiring a professional childminder, as is the norm, to bring in her mum for the duty. Speaking to Australian magazine New Idea, Jessica Hay - a close friend of Kate - told the mag that Kate wants her mother, Carole, to take on the responsibility of royal babysitter. She told the magazine, “Kate and William are both pretty terrified about the rest of the pregnancy after the hyperemesis.," adding, “Carole may even move in with them when the baby’s born so they don’t have to rely on a nanny."

Jessica, who went to school with Kate, also revealed that Kate's grandmother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II, has been a doting family member since Kate's battle with morning sickness that landed the Duchess in hospital. Apparently, Her Majesty has been sending Kate health tips and has even sent her chutney from her estate, telling her grand-daughter-in-law to eat it up should she begin to feel ill again. Jessica also says that Kate has taken up yoga and hypnotherapy to help combat any future ailments, but is said to be in good health at the moment.

Kate Middleton Pregnancy - Will Kim Kardashian's Baby Arrive On The Same Day As Kate's?

Kim Kardashian Kate Middleton Kanye West

What are the chances of Kim Kardashian and Kate Middleton’s babies being born on the same day? Well, according to Paddy Power, we’re talking odds of 66/1. Although they haven’t offered any odds on the internet caving in on itself, if that actually does happen. According to the Irish Independent, a spokesperson for Paddy Power said “If both Kate and Kim do the double, the world's media will have a baby bonanza on their hands and a right royal fight will be had over those all-important first pictures.”

William Hill are already starting to feel the pinch, now that St James’ Palace have confirmed that the Duchess’ baby is due in July. They’ll be making a pretty big payout for that one and the fact that it will be born this year and their spokesman Rupert Adams joked “We can only hope that they don’t have a baby with ginger hair as that would break the bank.” There’s also a rush on people trying to guess the name of the royal baby, though initial claims that Kate was expecting twins have now been turned on their head so at least you only have one name to guess and not two, if you fancy risking a tenner on that one.

Meanwhile, news of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s baby (lil’ baby Kimye) is pretty much as important as a royal baby, in the world of celebrities, as Kim and Kanye are the equivalent of a royal couple in the world of hip-hop, reality TV and gossip mags. Now, if we could only arrange for a synchronized birth between them, that would send the worldwide web into overdrive.

12 Week Scan Shows Will And Kate's Baby To Be Healthy, And Ready For The World In July

Kate Middleton Prince William

After the difficult beginning to her pregnancy, St James Palace has now confirmed that not only is Kate Middleton getting healthier and healthier. "Their Royal Highnesses, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, are delighted to confirm they are expecting a baby in July," the statement read. "The Duchess's condition continues to improve since her stay in hospital last month."

As NY Daily News speculates, it seems she has been carrying for around 14 weeks, which would make the time of conception way back in October. For 14 her bump is still barely there to be seen. Although it was thought she may be carrying twins because of her suffering with extreme morning sickness, otherwise known as hyperemesis gravidarum, the singular 'baby' in the statement implies otherwise. In the Royal tradition of secrecy, there is much left unknown by the public and it is unclear yet whether they are expecting a girl or a boy.

With the baby estimated at 14 weeks so far, the Duchess' due date is not until next July. Now that she's healthy let's hope she stays that way. She has been laying low most of the time since her stint in hospital, undoubtedly largely to look after her health, but also because of the tragic death of Nurse Jacintha Saldanha who committed suicide following a prank call from an Australian radio station. Her latest public appearance was at the National Portrait Gallery for the unveiling of her first royal portrait.

Kate Middleton's Offspring To Be A July Baby, No Twins

Kate Middleton

We're fast running out of things to speculate on re: Kate And Wills royal baby, as it's been revealed by an official spokesperson that he or she is due for a July birth, The Guardian report.

"Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to confirm they are expecting a baby in July," said a palace spokesman (via The Guardian). Also revealed was the status of Kate's health, and it would appear she's feeling better after her infamous stay in hospital last month following a bout of hyperemesis gravidarum (severe morning sickness). A spokesman for the couple said they were unlikely to undertake any engagements in the next few weeks as William would be concentrating on his flying with the RAF search and rescue force. He added that Kate was likely to return to engagements "in the near future".

It appears the regal-nipper is starting to affect the betting markets, as July was the even money bet. A spokesperson for William Hill said, "The royal baby is starting to cost us a small fortune; we have already paid out on the year and now the month that the baby will be born. We can only hope that they don't have a baby with ginger hair as that would break the bank."

July Due Date Announced For William And Kate's Royal Baby

Kate Middleton Prince William

Prince William and Kate Middleton have announced that their royal baby is expected to arrive this July, in a short statement via St. James’ Palace.

Whilst the USA might be eagerly anticipating the birth of their next superstar baby in the form of whatever it is that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have contrived to create, for the Brits there’s only one birth they’ll be keeping an eye on and that’s the delivery of a new royal baby. USA Today reports that a statement released today (January 14, 2013) read "Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to confirm they are expecting a baby in July." The message went on to say "The Duchess's condition continues to improve since her stay in hospital last month."

That trip to the hospital unfortunately attracted headlines for all the wrong reasons after one of the nurses looking after Middleton at the King Edward VII Hospital, Jacintha Saldanha, committed suicide after being fooled into almost giving away personal details about Middleton to an Australian radio station. Middleton was there for extreme morning sickness, but has since recovered enough to unveil a new – a first ever royal – portrait of her at the National Portrait Gallery in London. All was not well there either, with the picture receiving mixed reviews.

Kate Middleton On Canvas- What's The Verdict? 'Unimpressive'

Kate Middleton

Royal portraits have historically been stuffy affairs. Rigid and stoic, their faces over the centuries have glared out at us with glazed eyes. Sadly, the first portrait of the Duchess, Kate Middleton, despite having a contemporary composition, and despite her being one of the most lively members of the royal family, Kate's portrait is not unlike the ones that have preceded it, and most reviews agree.

Artist Paul Elmsley has given her lifeless eyes and skin that is almost grey in hue. "Fortunately," the Daily Mail writes, "the Duchess of Cambridge looks nothing like this in real life. I'm really sad to say this is a rotten portrait."

"Paul Emsley has managed quite a feat making the future Queen look like a dowdy 45-year-old." The Mirror said, "This horrible, soft-lens style painting - which the Duchess emerges from in an almost ghostly way - robs her of any of the sparkle and life she is loved for."

Kate Middleton Portrait Resembles Creepy Painting From Ghostbusters 2

Kate Middleton

The Kate Middleton portrait is being quickly and aggressively pulled apart by art critics and amateur reviewers on Twitter. The portrait - by artist Paul Emsley - was unveiled at the National Portrait Gallery on Friday (January 11, 2013), though attracted scrutiny for its soft focus and lack of warmth. Critics say the Duchess' national beauty is almost entirely absent.

Mr Emsley himself has spoken of the difficulty of painting one of Britain's most elegant women, admitting to the Daily Mirror, "The fact she is a beautiful woman is for an artist difficult. In the end I think what I tried to do really was to convey something about her warmth and her smile." Middleton, who has a degree in the history of art, was apparently "amazed" after seeing the finished painting during a tour of the gallery in London. "I think, from what I can see this morning, she's delighted with it. I'm very happy about that," said Emsley. The Glasgow-born artist appears to have used similar techniques to those apparent in his portrait of Nelson Mandela, and his latest work took him three and a half months. "A person whose image is so pervasive, for an artist it is really difficult to go beyond that and find something which is original - you have to rely on your technique and your artistic instincts to do that and I hope I've succeeded," he added.

The art critics were presumably sharpening their knives before seeing the portrait, and, as expected, gave Emsley a massive thumbs down early on Friday. Mark Hudson of The Telegraph said, "What is it about the conjunction of the Royal Family, oil paint and official commissions that seems to lead inevitably to aesthetic disaster? Even Lucien Freud made a fudge job of his portrait of the Queen." Charlotte Higgins of The Guardian asked, "How is it that she has been transformed into something unpleasant from the Twilight franchise?" adding, "The first thing that strikes you about Middleton's visage as it looms from the sepulchral gloom of her first official portrait is the dead eyes."

Kate Middleton Prank Call DJ's Won't Face Prosecution

Kate Middleton

When the two Australian DJ's responsible for that now-infamous prank call picked up the phone, they would have had no idea how powerful their actions could be.

The full extent of their influence on the suicide of Jacintha Saldanha - who was found dead three days after taking the call - is unknown, and is likely never to be ascertained, but the implications on their personal lives will be huge.

They will, however, not be subject to prosecution, The BBC reports. Scotland Yard said before Christmas that it had submitted a file to the Crown Prosecution Service on 19 December "for them to consider whether any potential offences may have been committed by making the hoax call".

Jacintha Saldanha Attempted Suicide Twice Before Hoax Call

Kate Middleton Prince Charles

Jacintha Saldanha, the nurse who killed herself after being fooled by a hoax call to the hospital treating the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, had attempted suicide twice before, it was reported yesterday. The 46-year-old was also prescribed anti-depressants by doctors, according to The Sun.

A hoax call made by an Australian radio station initially became the talk of the internet, though in a tragic turn of events, Saldanha was found dead at her home three days later. However, it has now emerged that she first attempted suicide by taking an overdose of pills during a family holiday last December, and was rushed to hospital days later after throwing herself off a building. She was treated for depression and admitted to a psychiatric ward at Father Muller Medical College Hospital in Mangalore, India. Her brother Saveen, 42, said, "We didn't know about the first incident, but we knew about the second."

Two DJ's pretending to be the Queen and Prince Charles called the hospital where Kate Middleton was being treated for severe morning sickness following the announcement that she is expecting her first child. Jacintha put them through to another nurse, who revealed confidential medical details about the Duchess' condition. Prosecutors were last week handed a police file and will decide whether anyone should face charges over the incident.

Kate And Wills Have A 50/50 Chance Of Having A Red-Headed Baby

Kate Middleton Prince William Prince Harry

According to geneticists, Kate Middleton's bun in the oven has around a 52% chance of being ginger, should she and Prince William both carry the red-haired gene.

Since the news broke that the royal pair are expecting, rounds of people have been predicting what the future heir to the throne may look like, and it turns out the future third in line for the throne may end up looking like the current third in line, Uncle Harry - that's Prince Harry!

Despite both sporting a much darker head of hair, the odds of having a red-headed child are actually quite high for the royal couple. In fact, scientists found that the chances of any couple in Britain giving birth to a red-head may be higher than expected, as a study of ancestral DNA of more 5,000 people in the UK showed that a whopping 38.3% had the red-haired gene. With a ginger brother, there is a more than likely chance that Wills carries the gene, as for Kate, Alistair Moffat - director of BritainsDNA - told the Daily Mail: “As a result of our study, we can say she has a 38.3 per cent chance of being one."

Kate Middleton Attends Sports Personality Awards

Kate Middleton

In her first appearance since her now infamous hospital visit, where a prank call spiralled into tragic consequences, Kate Middleton attended another British institution: the BBC’s Sports Personality of The Year awards.

She appeared on stage to present the prize to this year’s winner: Bradley Wiggins – the British cyclist that broke into the realms of fame on this Summer’s 2012 Olympic games. Jessica Ennis, who enjoyed a similar fate, came second, while Scottish tennis star, who failed at Wimbledon, but prevailed with a gold medal, beating Roger Federer in the Olympic final, came third. Lord Coe, the chairman of London 2012 organisers Locog, received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Duchess. Earlier the BBC's royal correspondent Peter Hunt tweeted: "Kate, according to her office, is keen to show her support to UK sportsmen and women at 'this prestigious event which caps a momentous year'."

Picking up his award, Wiggins said, “I’m not going to swear tonight so I’m just going to say, ‘Thank you very much for the people who picked the phone up and voted. We’ve had all that jungle stuff and the X Factor the last couple of weeks so for people in half an hour to pick up and pay £1.50 to vote thank you very much. And, my nan - the cheque’s in the post because you pushed redial god knows how many times.”

Kate Middleton Prank Call Nurse Left Suicide Note; Jacintha Saldanha Update.

Kate Middleton

A further development has been reported in the suicide of Jacintha Saldanha; the Kate Middleton prank call nurse left a suicide note for her family, Yahoo reports.

While several British media outlets have reported the existence of a suicide note, the exact content is unknown, and due to the sensitive nature; common decency would suggest that it never should. The news comes soon after Southern Cross media yesterday decided it will donate all profits from 2Day FM advertising from now until the end of the year to a fund that will directly benefit the family of Jacintha Saldanha."We are very sorry for what has happened. It is a terrible tragedy and our thoughts continue to be with the (Saldanha) family," Southern Cross Austero CEO Rhys Holleran said in the statement. "We hope that by contributing to a memorial fund we can help to provide the Saldanha family with the support they need at this very difficult time."

The 2Day FM Christmas Party has been called off following the death of UK nurse Jacintha Saldanha, who died on Friday after she was fooled by the prank call. "This is no time for celebration at Southern Cross Austereo Sydney," a spokesperson explained. The $13,000 bar tab will be donated to Beyond Blue and Lifeline. While the recent donations in light of this tragedy may be extrapolated by some as an admission of guilt, one wonders what the company could do in the situation without upsetting someone else.

Radio Station Of Kate Middleton Prank DJs Pledge At Least £326,000 To Nurse's Family

Kate Middleton

While a 'suicide note' has been reported by the Evening Standard, and the family of Jacintha Saldanha are looking and asking for answers from the hospital where she worked, the radio station from which the hoax call was broadcast has pledged a minimum of £326,000 to the family, as well as cancelling their Christmas party in a gesture of respect, according to The Telegraph.

Jacintha Saldanha was the nurse who died in a suspected suicide after answering the hoax call made by an Australian radio station, asking to speak to Kate Middleton and claiming to be the queen. However, while it seems that the radio station's act is one of goodwill, it could also be read as an admission of responsibility, which is risky business given the current climate of suing anyone and everyone for the smallest of misdemeanours (a judge in the US is suing a launderers for $65m for losing his trousers).

The family are naturally distressed and looking for answers. At the moment, however, they're looking to the hospital to give them the information and reason that they feel they need. The chairman of the Commons home affairs committee, said: "What the family need are the full facts... The chairman of the hospital said... that there are inquiries going on in the hospital." Adding, however, "That is not sufficient for the family. There are unexplained circumstances. The family want to know everything. All the facts, fully and clearly. The hospital needs to be more proactive, a full inquiry is needed and the family need to be included in that."

Kate Middleton Prank-call DJs Issue Teary Response To Jacintha Saldanha's Death

Kate Middleton

While the notion of prank calling a hospital to inquire about the wellbeing of an ill pregnant woman might seem repugnant and ill-considered to many, the tragic news that followed - the suspected suicide of Jacintha Saldanha - was something no one considered. And indeed, no one considers it to be the fault of Mel Greig or Michael Christian, the radio DJ's who instigated the prank.

"I have thought about this a million times in my head, that I just wanted to reach out to (Saldanha's family) and just give them a big hug and say sorry," Greig told Australia's Nine News on Monday. "The thought we may have played a part in (Saldhana's death) is gut-wrenching." Christian went on to that he was "shattered, heartbroken" and that "The joke 100% was on us. The idea was never, 'Let's call up and get through to Kate,' or 'Let's speak to a nurse.' The joke was our accents are horrible, they don't sound anything like who they're intended to be."

The British press took the news as an opportunity to scapegoat the radio DJ's, as they so often do when Royal affairs are at hand. But, even though the prank may have been a bad idea, regardless of the sad and as of yet fully explained outcome, it would seem unfair to blame them fully for the death of another human being.

Kate Middleton Hospital Prank Call Saga: Family Of Jacintha Saldanha Pay Tribute

Kate Middleton

The tragic events that followed an ill-advised prank call regarding the pregnant and ill Kate Middleton have been followed by an emotional tribute to the late Jacintha Saldanha, who was found dead on Friday 7th after a suspected suicide.

Her family described Mrs Saldanha as a "loving mother and a loving wife," via Keith Vaz MP, report Sky News. "This is a close family, they are devastated by what has happened, they miss her every moment of every day," he said. "They are really grateful for the support of the British public and the public overseas for the messages of support and kindness," he added.

Prime Minister David Cameron spoke of his "shock" at Mrs Saldanha's death. He said: "I thought it was completely shocking ... I heard about the suicide of this nurse, who worked incredibly hard and obviously was incredibly dedicated. I feel incredibly sorry for her and her family. It is an absolute tragedy that this has happened and I am sure everyone will want to reflect on how it was allowed to happen."

Kate Middleton Prank Call Update: SCA On Damage Control

Kate Middleton

The two DJ’s, who pranked a nurse into revealing details about Kate Middleton’s condition have been sanctioned and Southern Cross Austereo, the company behind the offending radio show, has reported that it is taking comprehensive action to prevent anything like this from happening again. The sanctions include the termination of 2Day FM’s Hot 30 show, the suspension of all advertising on 2Day FM, a company-wide suspension of prank calls, as well as a review of company policies. Whether that will be enough to clear SCA’s reputation remains to be seen.

SCA have also expressed their condolences for those affected by Jacintha Saldanha’s death. The nurse committed suicide shortly after the scandal broke and, regardless of whether the tragedy had anything to do with the nurse being fooled by the DJ’s, her death sheds an eerie light over the entire scandal and the fallout might be hard for the company to control.

According to a statement issued by Rhys Holleran, the CEO of Southern Cross Austereo, has stated that the company is “providing support to our people who are deeply saddened by this tragic and unforseen event”. Exactly who those people are is unclear, since, according to TMZ, before the suspension, the DJs were heard bragging about the prank.

The Queen To Be Broadcast On Our TV Screens In 3D This Christmas

Queen Elizabeth II Prince William Kate Middleton

Her Majesty the Queen is set to have her upcoming 2012 Christmas speech broadcast in 3D for the very first time after the Royal family made the special agreement.

This year has been a special year for both Britain and the Royal family themselves what with the thrilling events of the 2012 London Olympics, the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrating her 60 year reign and, of course, the truly wonderful news of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (formerly Prince William and Kate Middleton) expecting their first child who will be third in line for the throne. Though the news of the pregnancy will not be mentioned by Her Majesty, she will no doubt have much to say for our country this year and what better way to experience her heartfelt annual message than in fantastic phenomenon that is 3D TV. The speech, which has been recorded by BskyB at Buckingham Palace, will be available to view on BBC and ITV but you will need a 3D television and box for the full experience.

Last year, Prince William chose against allowing his wedding to be filmed in 3D at Westminster Abbey so this marks a new step in technology for our Royals after already signing up for a Twitter and YouTube account.

Kate Middleton Prank Call DJs “Shattered” About London Nurse Suicide

Kate Middleton

The two Australian DJs involved in the prank call to Kate Middleton’s hospital have finally spoken in response to the news that one of the nurses who answered the call has committed suicide.

The prank call involved Aussie DJs Mel Greig and Michael Christian calling the London hospital and pretending to be the Queen of England, complete with corgis barking in the background. The pair maintain that they had not expected to be put through and that the joke was supposed to be on them, not on any of the hospital workers.

Both DJs told of their distress at hearing the news of nurse Jacintha Saldanha’s death. The phone call that delivered the news to Mel Greig was described as “the worst phone call I’ve ever had in my life,” by the DJ. She was asked if she had a message for Saldanha’s family and replied “[I] have wanted to reach out to them and just give them a big hug. I hope they're OK, I really do.” Christian also extended his sympathies to the family of the nurse, saying “our deepest sympathies go out to the family… We just hope that her family and friends are being as good as they can be and are giving [them] the love and support they need. We are shattered.”

Did Duchess Kate's Nurse 'Commits Suicide'?

Kate Middleton

In tragic news, Duchess Kate Middleton’s nurse, who took a phone call from two Australian DJs pretending to be Queen Elizabeth II and Prince of Wales, has been found dead from suspected suicide.

Sky News reports that Jacintha Saldanha had been looking after the Duchess of Cambridge after she was admitted to the King Edward VII hospital complaining of severe morning sickness in light of her pregnancy. Earlier in the week the two DJs had called up Saldanha under the guise of the royal family members and had asked questions about the well-being of Middleton, who is still short of being 12 weeks pregnant. 46 year-old Saldanha was found at an address near the hospital this morning (December 7), with suicide being the expected cause of death.

Her family said that they were “deeply saddened by the death” of the nurse, whilst the Australian DJs Michael Christian and Mel Greig have been suspended from their station, 2DayFM, until further notice. The hospital said that, contrary to rumors, Saldanha had not been disciplined for falling victim to the hoax call and that they’d been supportive of her throughout the period. Dr Peter Carter, chief executive and general secretary of the Royal College of Nursing said: "This is tragic news, and the thoughts of all at the Royal College of Nursing go to the family of Jacintha Saldanha. It is deeply saddening that a simple human error due to a cruel hoax could lead to the death of a dedicated and caring member of the nursing profession."

Report: Kate Middleton Prank Call Receptionist Commits Suicide

Kate Middleton

The receptionist who put through a prank phone call from an Australian DJ asking of Kate Middleton's condition in hospital, has committed suicide. Two Australian DJ's pretending to be the Queen and Prince Charles with comedy accents were put through to the nurse caring for the Duchess at the King Edward VII hospital this week.

The woman was the first to pick up the call and happily transferred the call through to nurses. Sky News' Crime Correspondent Martin Brunt said: "It does appear that the receptionist who put the original call through has been found dead, thought to be suicide." The 30-year-old Duchess of Cambridge was being treated at the hospital for severe morning sickness, though the DJ's managed to gain details of her condition. "She's sleeping at the moment and she has had an uneventful night. She's been given some fluids. She's stable at the moment," the nurse informed the supposed Queen and Prince, according to the Associated Press. The hospital staff became a subject of mockery, with a spokesperson saying it's telephone protocols were being reviewed.

The Australian station 2DayFM placed the recording of the conversation on its website, though DJ's Mel Greig and Michael Christian later apologized. "We were very surprised that our call was put through. We thought we'd be hung up on as soon as they heard our terrible accents," they said in a joint statement, "We're very sorry if we've caused any issues and we're glad to hear that Kate is doing well."

Kate Middleton Leaves Hospital in LondonPicture Perfect: Kate Middleton Beams After Leaving Hospital In London

Kate Middleton left the King Edward VII Hospital in central London early on Thursday (December 4, 2012) after spending four days being treated for hyperemesis gravidarum (or, severe morning sickness). The Duchess of Cambridge looked fit as a fiddle upon checking out, holding a bouquet of flowers and smiling for the cameras with husband Prince William by her side. "The Duchess of Cambridge has been discharged from the King Edward VII Hospital and will now head to Kensington Palace for a period of rest," Nick Loughran, the assistant press secretary to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, said in a statement. "Their Royal Highnesses would like to thank the staff at the hospital for the care and treatment The Duchess has received."

Middleton, 30, is less than 12 weeks pregnant, though was suffering from a serious bout of morning sickness earlier this week. The acute nausea is usually diagnosed around 12 weeks into a pregnancy and in most cases resolves itself by 20 weeks, according to Dr Ashley Roman, who spoke with The Independent. In rare cases, it can last the whole pregnancy, though Middleton looked pretty healthy as she posed on the steps of the hospital this morning, before departing in a black car. The Duke and Duchess were spending time with her parents in Bucklebury when she became nauseas. Ever the reliable husband, Prince William sprung into the action and drove his wife 50 miles in their Range Rover to the hospital, where Kate was placed on an IV drip. Such was the nature of the hospitalization, the royal family were only notified of Kate's pregnancy a couple of hours before the rest of the world.

Kate Middleton Pregnancy Sparks Baby Name Speculation: Chardonnay!?

Kate Middleton Prince William

Kate Middleton pregnancy has only just been announced, but the world's media have already descended on London, probably for the entirety of the nine months. You see, there's plenty of things we can speculate on before the future King or Queen arrives: gender, weight, hair color, eye color, and of course that all important name.

With Middleton's penchant for fashion and contemporary trends, perhaps she and William will opt against a traditional royal name? The bookmakers are playing it safe for the time being, offering George and Victoria as the favorites at 10/1, with Ann, Charles, Edward and Elizabeth available at around 12/1. Ambitious punters can have 20/1 on Diana, while there are big odds available for those with a little more imagination. How about Kate to name her son after the late designer Alexander McQueen? The name is currently around 33/1 and certainly retains a regal edge to it. For a girl, Sophie and Florence are 66/1, while Chardonnay is 1000/1. Tulisa is 500/1, as is Wayne, Rafa, Peaches, Hashtag, Gavin, Frogmella, Dawn, Britney, Arsene and Apple. Any takers?

Extra TV's royal family insider Sam Haskell said, "As a royal heir, there will be four names. I would guess Diana could be in there," also noting Elizabeth and Mary as possibilities.

Kate Middleton Pregnant With Twins? Experts Certainly Think So

Kate Middleton Prince William

Is Kate Middleton pregnant with twins? After the royal family announced her pregnancy, the Duchess of Cambridge remains in hospital with acute morning sickness known as hyperemesis gravidarum. The rare condition results in weight loss and is often associated with having twins.

Women diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum typically lose 5 per cent of their pre-pregnancy weight, says Dr Ashley Roman, a professor at the New York University Langone Medical Center. "It's traditionally thought that nausea and vomiting is a sign of a healthy pregnancy." Dr Nancy Cossler at University Hospitals in Ohio said the Duchess and her family should not be worried, "The biggest problem with this is how it interferes with your life.Constantly feeling sick and puking is difficult." Cossler explains that the condition is thought to be caused by higher levels of the pregnancy hormone hCG, which can often mean that the woman is carrying more than one foetus. Though there's very little data on twins and hyperemesis gravidarum, one study shows that women carrying twins had a 7.5 per cent higher risk of experiencing the acute morning sickness - a considerable increase in the grand scheme of things. According to The Independent newspaper, there is evidence that mothers-to-be who suffer from the condition are three times more likely to have a multiple birth than other woman.

The severe type of morning sickness is usually diagnosed about nine weeks into the pregnancy, however, in rare cases it can last the whole pregnancy. "As the pregnancy is in its very early stages, Her Royal Highness is expected to stay in hospital for several days and will require a period of rest thereafter," read a statement from St. James Palace. Middleton's husband Prince William is currently by his wife's side at a private hospital in central London.

Kate Middleton is pregnant with her and Prince William's first child. The news was announced by St James Palace today on behalf of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who married in 2011.

According to ABC News, the child - whether a girl or boy - will eventually be heir to the British throne, according to new legislation awaiting final approval. The Duchess was admitted to King Edward VII Hospital on Monday (December 3, 2012) with hyperemesis gravidarum, an acute morning sickness that requires supplementary hydration and nutrients. "As the pregnancy is in its very early stages, Her Royal Highness is expected to stay in hospital for several days and will require a period of rest thereafter. Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby," the palace said in a statement today. "The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry and members of both families are delighted with the news." The couple have made no secret of their desire to have children, though 'Kate Middleton pregnant' headlines have been cropping up on a weekly basis since the couple married.
