NBC are saying thanks but no thanks to two of their freshman comedies, ‘Bad Judge’ and ‘A to Z’. The cancellations are the network’s first of the season, after ABC led the way last week, axing romantic comedy 'Manhattan Love Story'.

According to Deadline, both comedies had been pulling in low ratings, with 'Bad Judge' earning a 0.9 while 'A to Z' took a less than impressive 0.7 in the 18-49 demographic.

But despite the cancellation, both shows will be airing all 13 episodes that were originally ordered in their original time slot of Thursday nights between 9 and 10pm. The network has also already lined up their replacement, flagship drama 'The Blacklist' which will occupy the timeslot after the Super Bowl.

Co-created by Chad Kultgen and Anne Heche. ‘Bad Judge’ stars ‘Peak Practices’’ Kate Walsh as tough L.A. judge Rebecca Wright whose life is turned upside down by an eight-year-old boy whose parents she had put behind bars. On paper the series looked like a potential hit thanks to Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's involvement as executive producers.

'A to Z' starred Cristin Milioti (‘How I Met Your Mother’s’ the mother) as Zelda, a single lawyer  who falls for Andrew an employee at an internet dating site. Katey Sagal served as the series narrator, while ‘Mad Men’s’ Ben Feldman also starred.
