For almost five full seasons now, The CW series 'Arrow' has brought the superhero of the same name to the small screen through actor Stephen Amell. Telling some intricate and beautifully-detailed stories that have, for the most-part impressed the millions of viewers that tune in week to week, 'Arrow' has been the starting point for a whole universe on the channel made up of some of the most recognisable DC Comics characters in existence.

Bringing some incredible talent to the forefront, spin-off series 'The Flash', 'Supergirl' and 'DC's Legends of Tomorrow' were born out of Arrow's success, with new series 'Black Lightning' also on the way at The CW. It's fair to say the Arrowverse has been pushing aside any boundaries set out before it.

Arrow's executive producer Marc Guggenheim just revealed some great news for fans of the show, confirming that Katie Cassidy would be returning to the sixth season of the show as a series regular. He said in a statement: "This year, our midseason finale introduced us to Laurel's doppelgänger, Black Siren. We were so taken by Katie's fearless interpretation of this character that we knew her story was not yet finished."

Cassidy has remained a firm favourite with viewers ever since she started suiting up as Black Canary, so when her character was killed off in some of the most shocking scenes 'Arrow' has shown to-date, the fan base was left in uproar. Now, without bringing someone back from the dead once more, Cassidy is going to be able to return to the show in an altered state, existing in Earth-2 as the Black Siren.

The news comes after it was confirmed former WWE wrestler Cody Rhodes - who's still competing in various other circuits - would be making his return to the series in the near future as the villain Derek Sampson. Exactly how long his time on the show will go on for however is still yet to be seen.
